  1. Hi hi I am downloading 2 movies at 7.8gb and 8.8gb for the coming family gathering this Saturday, it takes forever to download compared to when I download without VPN. A file this size takes less than an hour to dl without VPN but I am aware that there are many other factors and don't dare to verify by downloading without hiding my a** lol I saw that you used Hong Kong servers in your test, and my friend who is a movie buff does his streaming from China servers. No luck for me the speed is less than 5mbps
  2. GREETINGS neighbour! Bus 972 is god send indeed, I commute to orchard road daily and I can choose between bus 972 during off peak and 190 during peak to get a seat for the 20-30 minutes bus ride to Orchard Road. The new downtown line is two bus stops away, think I will try getting off at Stevens Road MRT and catch 972 back from town if the bus still runs so frequently. My friend who lives near Petir Road takes bus 700 to town, she is envious with rthe frequency of bus 972 Haha. Which part of BP are you staying? I am at Fajar Road. Looking forward to the opening of the downtown line Mrt this weekend and the new hawker center next week!
  3. Hi Toh, How is your HMA doing? The download speed when torrenting is a bit depressing and I am still trying to find a server that exceeds 20mbps dl speed. Which servers are you using? I did the full speed test on hma several times and almost all the servers in London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam and Prague (trying my luck with the cities that are ranked in the top 10 broadband speed I saw some months ago ) are not reachable or has less than 10mbps dl speed. A little surprising as hma is an UK company. Saw this article while Googling, good info here: http://www.adeepbite.com/hidemyass-vpn-review/
  4. The Eubiq lah . I very sauku not heard of this power socket until now. Did a google and found a good review of this http://www.gadgetreactor.com/2014/12/eubiq-review-power-socket-revisited.html Waiting to see how you incorporate this into the gap between the subway tiles and the backsplah
  5. Good morning! This home owner installed an Ikea kitchen less than two years ago: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62832-modern-em-reno-bukit-panjang/
  6. Maybe can try shipping via sea freight: https://www.vpost.com.sg/our-services/sea-freight
  7. Hehe. I bought it brand new from a French woman on Craigslist.I bought a number of very good seconds like an art deco wardrobe and an elmwood shoe cabinet on Craigslist/gumtree few years ago. But find nowadays the listings consist mostly IKEA and cheap reproductions.
  8. Hi the issue I facing is once i connect to hma, I can't go to any site. Tried Facebook, BBC, Netflix etc I used default settings as well. Let me check the Mac OS version
  9. It worked when I turned off vpn, didn't try restarting the computer, will try when I am home tonight I only had one active session when I tried to access from Mac mini
  10. Hi KS I signed up HMA after reading your post: ) the Christmas promotion is too good to be missed! Need help! I installed HMA on my Sony phone, Sony tablet and Mac mini. Works fine on Sonys but not Mac mini. It kept saying safari can't find the server when I tried to access a random site to test. I am using wired connection for the Mac mini and tried connecting to hma servers in China, USA and Singapore.
  11. Not particularly fond of the second and third ones and find the first one a bit too plain if you have a plain color fabric sofa. Don't you want some colors or patterns for your manly cave something like the IKEA Stockholm rug
  12. It looks nice. Where you plan to put this floor lamp? I went window shopping at Courts on Friday and ended up buying a table lamp and floor lamp of the same design. I like the style and price! $118 for both
  13. Toh, I am with you concerning the "higher broadband speed means faster connection" mentality. The broadband service providers are cashing on this "bedlinen thread count mindset" by seling customers higher speed broadband at a premium, supported by speed tests results they conducted with tiny small prints that most people overlooked or not able to comprehend. The truth is unless you access Singapore based contents with server situated locally, the speed rarely exceeds 100mbps (or much less Toh??) once you are connected to the world. My friends in Copenhagen and Amsterdam have broadband connection of 30-50 mbps and they are able to stream Netflix and YouTube contents smoothly. Given the choice I would rather stick to cable broadband as the cost of relocating fiber broadband service is quite High but starhub and singtel have packaged their fiber broadband plans more attractively than cable broadband plan. I switched to Viewquest from Starhub 1+ years ago mainly because I don't require cable TV service and I read that VQ doesn't do bandwidth throttling (streaming from China TV /movie sites was painfully slow on Other ISPs back then, and some reviews said torrenting and gaming speed is faster on VQ). I am sure the big brothers Singtel and Starhub have caught up since.. The apple airport express that I used as wifi signal extender is connected via wired connection
  14. I saw the Otto fan at Robinsons few years ago, went looking for it when my Retro fan died this year but they stopped carrying
  15. Mine is 80cm, the yoga rug/runner between the bed and the wardrobe is 65cm: https://flic.kr/p/C6Wedh
  16. Haha my guess is its for IP camera and signal extension as well. Single-storey Hdb and condo units have less issues with wifi performance in general I think. Usually a better router or a wifi signal extender will provide sufficient coverage for the entire unit. Houses are a little more tricky. Me and a techie staff at my sister's shops spent some weeks to troubleshoot the poor wifi signal issues with the singtel fiber broadband installed at the second floor of the shop house, after long ding-dong with singtel technical support over the phone and onsite troubleshooting (which is quite a joke coz all he did was do a speed test via wired connection using his laptop to the server situated in USA and I read that the server is paid by Singtel, and he cant advise me how to address the weak wifi issue when I asked him how to lay the fiber cables for another network pt). In the end I signed up another fiber broadband plan with Viewquest with the intention of terminating Singtel's broadband once the contract ends. With the information I gathered and the recommendation by Viewquest technical staff, I replaced the free singtel router with a highend asus router that worked for the two storey shophouse with many walls , and used my old airport express as an wifi extender at one corner.
  17. I just googled for the tencel fabric and bamboo fabric care instructions. Walau I have been washing my tencel bed linens wrong past three years by using machine wash with 30 degree temperature and 1200 spin speed, and machine dry them instead of drip dry! But the texture and color remains the same leh, maybe only the anti-bacterial properties are destroyed: ) http://www.the-eco-market.com/tencel-fabric/ http://www.bamboofabricstore.com.au/view/care-instructions/36 Thats another incentive to use vinegar!
  18. Walau what's the network point at the service yard for? and **** room? I only have one network point behind the TV. It works for me as I don't have TV and desktop computers in the bedrooms and the wifi signal coverage is good enough
  19. Haha you are less of a slacker than me! I just told myself that I will get a VPN service after Christmas. Please do a review and post it on your t-blog So which servers do you choose for torrenting? I didn't pay attention as the downloading of big full HD video files with Viewquest is quite fast, in the past with Starhub broadband I will think twice about downloading a 5-10gb video file but now I go for the highest resolution I can find on the torrent site.
