  1. The Yue Minjun painting is very bold. I have no guts to put something so bold in my own place haha
  2. I have a soft spot for budget renos! Looking forward to the before and after pics
  3. Your MBR is huge! 5.3m x 4.5m is extremely comfortable. Can put in a lounge chair, king sized bed, 50" TV and a small study desk easily. In fact, a lot of furniture and decor required to make it feel cosy. I have to thumbs up on Ocean's suggestion. Not meant to be discouraging but I'm also not a fan of WIW. Often I find the ceiling heights too low, there is not enough ventilation in the WIW area, particularly if it's narrow. In addition when poorly lit and not enough natural light, the WIW area can feel cramped. Also WIW tends to not have closet doors. I'm not a fan of that because have to arrange the wardrobe items by colour, must be neat etc. It never looks as good when it's styled in a picture or in a shop. So overall my opinion is that the space is wasted, particularly if have to knock down a wall and combine bedrooms.
  4. Looking gd! Your place is gonna be awesome for hosting parties heh Can share the link for the shop with the laundry basket and cushion covers? Quality looks good!
  5. Hey redder, express shipping is very ex. I think should definitely put in your order soon if want to be in time for cny. Some items are made to order. Meaning it will take some item before it is shipped from tb seller to agent warehouse. This is particularly truly for furniture type items. When I bought through peeka, they will find out from tb seller how long it takes to ship out and inform me on whether I want to wait. Then I can either cancel and put in another seller with same item or just wait. The other advice if time is not on your side, is get all the big stuff which require contractor to install for u. The decor stuff can wait and not so urgent. GST is bo pian one so don't be fixated on that. Gd luck!
  6. Floor lamp is excellent! Wonder if its from the same seller as my table lamp (same design) Poster does look quite bad. Maybe can just distress to salvage it and hide the poor resolution. Lol
  7. Import the barnyard door from the US! It looks stunning. Show stopper and worth the $$
  8. Mine is same dimension except length slightly shorter - about 2.1m Dark tiles with dark grouting will distract visually. Also non-glossy.
  9. Good point. What are the dimensions of the toilet? Mine is pretty small too and there are two drain holes. The slant is very subtle. Can only tell because of the water flow though. I guess the other question is what design/color tiles is going to be laid. It will affect how perceptible the slopes are.
  10. Should definitely do the extra drain hole. And also have the floor slightly slanted towards it so water will flow there during/after showering. if not the water needs to flow across to (presumably) the vanity area and the toilet bowel
  11. What kind of camera are you using? The pictures are very well taken!
  12. The rugs really pop in your dark apartment. Really nice!
  13. I think the two types of ID and contractor which are home owner's two worst nightmares 1. Those at the onset who have no intention of completing the project. Meaning you made payment and they are uncontactable. Some just give the appearance of some work being completed e.g. minor hacking or putting the materials in the home. These are very few but it's a huge disaster. Pretty much can kiss your money goodbye. How to get back money? CASE is useless and small claim court is too much trouble. I have yet to see any successful cases of getting any money back. 2. Those whose company have cash flow problems. I believe they are sincere persons but poor at doing business. Expect delays and constant badgering for payments in order to purchase materials for your reno even though milestones are not met. They will be hardly contactable and project may never be completed and their company (pte ltd) closes down. Someone just had a blog describing their experience. A few ways to mitigate this: 1. Don't get suckered into sweet talk, over promising and being pressured to sign with them. Once you feel like they are pressuring you to sign, immediately walk away. 2. Always ask to see their recently completed projects and speak to the owner who did transaction with them. In fact, look at 2 or 3 recently completed projects. Ask ID/contractor if you can speak to the owner privately. They should be honest and transparent and proud of their work. 3. Search on internet for nasty experiences with this ID/contractor. Don't just search company name, but the name of the ID/contractor. Company name can be changed easily. The last type is those ID/contractor who overcharge for every single item. This is probably the most common as consumers have no idea who the normal price range is and as consumers, we kena carrot chop. This can only be mitigated by looking at other ID/contractor quotes to get a good sense of the price and the pricing structure. Please note there are a lot of people who advertise here but under the guise that they are people with positive experiences with a specific ID/contractor. If they hardly have any posts, just recently registered and post a too-good-to-be-true experience, take it with a pinch of salt. Overall this industry suffers from some black sheep and because consumers have little recourse, paranoia is natural for any newbies.
  14. I have decided to sell a piece of furniture which I shipped from taobao simply because it's too big for my place. It's this side board which doubles as my desk. The pics from taobao for reference Made of steel with matt black coating and distressed. Suitable for industrial or vintage type decor. Dimensions 120 cm length, 55 cm depth and 77 cm height. Price: S$250 (transport own self arrange). Can arrange viewing too. PM please. Edit: Price knocked down from S$450 (original cost of item when I bought it).
  15. Last night I was looking at my place and have finally come to the conclusion that one of my taobao loot doesn't fit into my place. It's just too big for my tiny place. I feel sad because I really love this piece! It's this side board which doubles as my desk. The pics from taobao for reference Made of steel with matt black coating and distressed. Suitable for industrial or vintage type decor. Dimensions 120 cm length, 55 cm depth and 77 cm height. Anyone interested? Trying to find a good home for it. Just want to recover cost at $450 (transport own self arrange). I'm sure this will easily be priced double in retail stores. Can arrange viewing too. PM please.
  16. I've bought three panels from Ron and he installed. You can see on my renotalk t-blog. Comparatively, definitely on the expensive side relative to craft bricks. The advantage is that there is a wide variety of panels and you are not limited by brick like design. He can bring in whichever panel you want from the msd panel website However, if you want brick-like appearance, I believe craft brick will be cheaper.
  17. I see! Good to know. Looks like third party agents still have business. For now.
  18. Natural teak is nice lor. Heh. Sturdy or not?
  19. My own experience from clicking around and trying to gauge the shipping costs when buying direct from taobao For large vol, heavy items, seems like it is more expensive than using an agent Has anyone tried to buy large items directly from taobao without an agent?
  20. Site presentation is very nice. Have you bought anything from them?
  21. The cornices are a nice contrast to the grey. Mind if u tell us which brand and grey colour u used for bedroom and mbr?
