  1. Pic 24: our dog waiting patiently for us. Poor us cleaning the floor and ensure that it is flat for flooring to be done. Flooring guy taichi to contractor and vice versa. end up we doing... nose hair turned white
  2. Pic 19 and 20: our mbr and wiw room. using gypsum board at the bed head to make the wall flushed. vinyl flooring will bedone tomorrow. cant wait to see the result! slowly our house is coming together...but I suspect the carpenter has not started on his work we will keep pushing since july is approaching and so is the ghost festival... Pic 21: Lighting points for our WIW Pic 22: Another space in the MBR Pic 23: Wall vanished
  3. Pic 16: waterproofing test Pic 17: kitchen toilet Pic 18: kitchen toilet, we know many people have been using subway tiles in the toilets and we love this idea too.
  4. Pic 14: Dining chairs Pic 15: We have changed to another dining table
  5. Below are some of the goods bought from Tao Bao Pic 9: Coat hanger Pic 10: Track light Pic 11: LED lights Pic 12: Spot light Pic 13: Dining table light
  6. Hi Can PM me the quote for the iron gates as well? Did you call Doctor Doors to come down to quote or you went to their showroom? thank u!
  7. Hi what is that shade of navy blue you used on the wall?
  8. We bought our basins from hoe kee all quite cheap. 100-145 sgd. taps were 35-55 sgd.
  9. Oh no I didn't...sticking to my friend. Although Aaron quote was really good he came up with it 5 hours after seeing our house for first time. I don't think it's fair to my contractor now by comparing his quote and Aaron's since we changed ideas and are hacking not overlaying tiles. I think Aaron may be good if you are doing simple work, he has his own creative output. Speaks proper English as well. If I didn't have this friend I would just choose him... Price as key factor
  10. our parcels from taobao have arrived. all 13 of them. Happy to say we are very pleased and the only casualty was two aluminium lights we bought for the kitchen which cost 12 bucks and was actually recommended by another renotalker..we are fine with the loss since the other items exceeded our expectations. The pink polka dotted bedsheet set was a pleasant surprise in its quality. Wife plans to purchase a satin quilt cover and pillow from Singsale soon as we don't feel comfortable for these items to be shipped from china, tiny and bugs and such may find its way Our renovation is going at a snails pace. Hacking plastering and tiling has taken 2 + weeks.... contractor says it takes time but I am seeing other renotalkers' progressing much faster... oh well. Currently only bathrooms are being done and Kitchen tiling will only start next week.
  11. Hi thank you so much for the advice. I was in dilemma about the goose feather quilt. Shall buy a silk cotton one instead! Went to register with singsale the bedding is really quite cheap ^^
  12. What is this singsale thing? Are items very cheap? Also anyone using goose feature quilt? Will it be too warm if the air con in the bedroom is not turned on?
  13. Hi can I have your painters contacts as well. My contractor quoted 1700 for 5 bedroom thanks!
  14. Mind sharing where is the relate petite fan sold at? Thank you.
  15. Parter going through the quote we decided to outsource painting to an external contractor as this one quoted us 1700 sgd for 5 paints. A previous contractor quoted 1100 sgd for the same work. However I am not sure if he will take us up. Anyone has good painting services to recommend? Starting to feel real heart pain and stressed. Just paid our 30% deposit. The reno work has stopped this week while we sort out this quote ....if it doesn't pick up I am really afraid we will only move in on August which is definitely not ideal.
  16. dear all, can we check if the back splash for kitchen, how much does it cost approximately? As our contractor quoted us 800 SGD for this tempered glass. Also, our kitchen only includes one tall boy and bottom cabinets and he quoted us SGD3200. I feel this is expensive
  17. hi marcel do you know if they just sell the long settee part of your sofa? where is it from? thanks
  18. thanks Ptopaz, you are right we added a feature wall in the MBR that uses some laminates and plywood framing. that is costing us 2.5 k. The carpenter suggested using internal laminate as well for our walk in wardrobe since its open to all to see. but I guess we will eliminate using internal laminates for the kitchen cabinets and shoe cabinet too to see if the cost savings is significant.
  19. hi tommy he has explained that the 6500 includes the 2 toilet vanity, wiw,and study table, sealing up the L shape hole at the MBR window and bedroom side tables. We still have a shoe cabinet not included inside, will probably cost 2k I guess? Hi Topaz reno started because we knew the contractor personally and we agreed on the total budget but now the quote excludes many stuff that will exceed our budget. He is trying to talk to the carpenter to see if he can reduce the pricing. For plumbing works, nothing extensive really we are not using any rain shower just normal instant heater. What is the usual price for plumbing for 2 toilets and 3 air con units? Basically we bought all our toiletries from Hoe Kee, 1600 for change of pipes and installation does seem rather expensive...
  20. Pic 5: Previous wardrobe removed in MBR Pic 6: shelves removed in MBR. Wall(on the right of the pic) has not been hacked yet joining our WIW Pic 7: laminates and shelves (recessed area) removed in our WIW. Workers not forgetting to cool themselves. Pic 8: We have chosen this vinyl for our bedrooms. these are from Krono O. According to sales person this color is new...we like it cos its brighter and less easy to spot hairs and furs
  21. Pic 1: Kitchen top cabinet removed to be replaced by shelves Pic 2: Pipes to be boxed up Pic 3: Removal is always the fastest process Pic 4: Want to get a similar sliding door for our kitchen
  22. HELP! Below is the breakdown for our renovation, it is much more expensive than what we expected, not including electricity points and bedroom doors as yet. We received another quote from Aaron (another ID) his total quote was 39k but there was some discounts and everything (electricity etc) was at a 30k pricing. We are in a conundrum now as we already are using our contractor and walls have been hacked etc. Because he is our friend so.....bad move perhaps. Would really like some advice on the quotes to see where we are being over charged or can cut back on as our contractor is open to negotiation (within valid points of course)
  23. Hi can pm me your kompactop quote and where to get it? Thank you.
