Is My Electrical Quote Reasonable ?
Dylanchua replied to regorlim's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Hi alvinraj. pmed you! -
Correct lo Report to police >their taskforce or community policing unit will contact you, you tell them you wish to install, they'll then advise you. then report to HDB whereby they'll give you either 3 months of 6 months period. If anymore have to apply again. then find CCTV and install.

Hi all, just to share with you guys. I have recently renovated my place with this 50+ years old contractor who is working with his son. I decided to settle for him because he was able to answer all of my technical questions and his son was able to provide good ideas on design. I went through several IDs but most of them either lack the technical know-hows, or doesn't seemed to be bothered at all; prices were very high for textbook designs. I also went to talk to my neighbors who told me that the contractor left an apology letter for causing noise, and even gave them noise reduction ear plugs. I have never been more impressed with any other service. In the end, a few of my neighbors also engaged their service for a few minor work. My contractor was able to take care of my place for me, keep clean, constantly supervising the work done by his workers, and quality check for me. As I had some difficulty in generating income, they actually told me that they'll do the electrical work, and a few miscellaneous for me themselves to save cost. I thought that renovating and moving house would be a harrowing experience but they proofed me otherwise. No doubts I had a few rectification works (chips off wall, minor repair work on carpentry, additional power points), but I wasn't afraid to call them back to assist me; I actually felt like they were my friend already. PM me for contractor contact guys. They really deserve to be more well-known for their service and attitude. I'll give them an 1 hour standing ovation. hahaha. You all can email me at dylanchua1970@gmail.com too I've posted in another thread awhile ago and my contractor got alot of called saying I referred them. So here's my another promo (maybe last haha) for them since they are so thankful. haha. Oh yeah, they were on stomp too for good service http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/yes-this-is-in-s%E2%80%99pore-see-what-surprise-contractor-gave-resident-whose-neighbour Cheers and goodluck with all your renovation!

Ya lo, true on HDB side. However, the implementation that all house renovation cement screed should be using the prepacked screed has been pushed back to June. So why is your ID charging you 3k to 5k for the cement screed when your renovation has started? There is no need for him to purchase the prepacked cement screed what..

Yeah. Sorry.. what I meant was they would repaint the whole unit. I have never heard of anyone doing touch up only.. My painting was done before the carpentry, and touched up after the carpentry.

If new BTO when they do light fixture, relocation of power point they need to putty up the hole the cut in the wall. Thats why need to repaint. False ceiling also need to paint to make it smooth. Don't know which paint good though hahah.

Fans - Ask the shop to install for you; need to balance the fan if not will make noise and start 'waving' Fans - If buy from Taobao (not recommended), ask electrician to install Lights - Big pieces from local shop, ask shop to install Lights - Big pieces and small pieces from Taobao, ask electrician to install. they'd charge accordingly. I also had a friend who bought a fan with light from Taobao, less than 2 days, he couldn't turn the fan on, even though the light is on. No manual and no place he could go to. He had to call his electrician to bypass the adapter, so now his fan control is always at medium. Beware of buying things from Taobao. I think if you get the shop staff to install things not bought from them, they'd charge you also lo. Most probably electrician price. Might as well let the shop install their own stuffs, and your electrician install the rest. If something go haywire you would have trouble. Better to consolidate everything to one point of contact. I've got electrician contact if you need. PM me bah if you want. goodluck

Living Room Floor - To Hack Or Not To Hack
Dylanchua replied to AngleFire's topic in Living, Dining & Storage
Wouldn't the room look 'shorter'? hmmm. Did he charge you to raising the level? If he charged you wouldn't the price difference be lesser if you hacked and retiled the living hall? Didn't the ID inform you prior to this? He should have eh. the differentiation in height is a big issue that should be highlighted when discussing about the things to do.- 10 replies

Yeah. I'll try to help too. Anyone who wishes to can PM me for questions. I'll be online most of the time as I'm looking at WTB/WTS hahaha. Good initiative but a few minor disagreement with your post here and there. then again, it is all in contexts and everyone's POV is different. Good post!
