  1. Hi everyone, im in love with the vinyl woody texture and the rubbery feel when i step on it, but however after reading a lot of info here shared by fellow renotalk members, i feel there is a need to look more into which brand is good. I asked evorich during the recent expo and they quoted me $6.20 which is still quite ex to me.Supreme the cheapest $5.50 but not much choice i visited inovar as well and they quoted me $7plus if im not mistaken. However theirs is not the click and lock system, which they claim to be not good cos can c gaps. May i know how true is this, anybody used Evorich or Innovar Vinyl care to share? CLick and lock or the normal ones better. Also i asked my contractor and he said he using ACE for my vinyl floor from US and says that its much cheaper. Anybody had used this brand before. I cant find much about this brand for the reviews. THank you in advance!

  12. Hi I am in the midst of renovation and wanted to have some views/advice from you guys here. my place a HDB 3 room flat with the wall between kitchen and living room hacked. 1. I really love track lights in the living room but was told that it will not be bright enough. My ID guy suggested to get a 1 x 2m with 4 LED lights (warm white) and 1 x 1.5 or 1 x 1 x 1m with 3 LED lights. Can anyone advise if this is bright enough for my living room? 2. If I would like to install track lights in kitchen, how many lights do I need? btw, I will have an island kitchen. 3. Anyone has install ceiling fan in the living room? I was told I will feel "oppress" due to the ceiling fan. any recommendation for good ceiling fan - not too ex? My 3room flat is 3NG. thank you very much!
  13. Hi all.. I would like to seek some advice on Feng Shui aspects of our house layout... it is a standard HDB BTO 4 room layout, and we were thinking of changing it, but worried that it might not be "good feng shui" for the house .... so here it goes: Question 1 ) In Feng Shui, I think it is said that doors should not face each other or something? Which means LAYOUT 3 & LAYOUT 2 are not good right? Since the door of the study is facing the master bedroom's door? However, as per in the Original Floorplan, the door of the common toilet is also facing the door of one of the bedrooms. Does this means it's bad as well? Question 2) I heard LAYOUT 3 may be even worse than LAYOUT 2, in the sense that the protruding perpendicular wall edge of the room is "bad" or something (resembles a sharp thing poking against you)? Although it could be that right angled/ 90 degrees ones are okay, only those that are not right-angled are bad? As such, is LAYOUT 1 the only "safe" / "okay" one in terms of Feng shui? Or are Layout 2 and Layout 3 fine as well? Does anybody has any idea regarding this =( ??? Thank you in advance! >.< EDIT: Title should be "Advice Regarding Change of House Layout"

  15. Hi everyone! After 30 years of staying in my parent's flat, we've decided to have a makeover to our kitchen and living room. The idea of renovating our kitchen was that the floor tiles given by HDB in 1985 was already popping out and doesn't look modern anymore. While the idea of renovating the living room concurrently was due to our thinking: " Since doing kitchen already, might as well do living room too. During the planning phase sometime in May 2015, I had been reading many of the blogs here and appreciated all contributions big or small by the friendly people here. Through this forum, I make myself to absorb and learn about renovations to help my parents while at the same time learnt from the process as my BTO will be ready sometime in 2018. This project is taking place real time as we've just selected the company to do up our house, and I'll share about the ID we selected in the next post. First up, here is the floor plan

  18. Hi All, Background of house - Resale flat and old tiles (small tiles) (Living Room Tiles) (Kitchen Tiles) (Condition of wall covered with wallpaper) Due to budget constraint, would like to find out from anyone who had experienced with their resale flat living rm & kitchen overlayed with homogeneous tiles instead of hacking and laying it with 3-in-1 prepacked cement and tiles. ID said better hack existing tiles and do up with new tiles then just overlaying it as new tiles might popped later due to:- 1) potential hollow space in old tiles 2) the moving of the soil etc... Worse case scenario, was thinking of overlaying Living room with homogeneous tiles but hack the kitchen and re-do all the tiles. So, needed advise badly for those who had overlayed their resale flat living rm and kitchen with homogeneous tiles 1) Has it popped so far? 2) Advisable to overlay living room and kitchen? Last qns, 3) as the condition of the wall and ceiling is very original and 'raw', should I plaster the wall and not the ceiling? All advise are welcome. Many thanks in advance for the reply.
