  1. In Singapore?? Prices are never really very 'reasonable' for black glass. Got mine in JB... 6ft, around S$440. Let me know if you need me to PM u the contact.
  2. Well.... the curtains did not manage to block the sunlight from the sides of the windows completely even though I asked Jimmy about it and he said it can be done. Also.... they drill the side support for the wooden bars a bit too far away from the side wall (about 1ft), which means that that part of the curtain can never be fully opened (or pulled to the end, if you know what I mean). When I asked the guy... he said because my window is long (3m, long meh?) so the side support has to be closer to the middle so that the wooden poles will last and won't slag. Dono bluff me or not, because I did not have the same issues in my old place and the curtains can be fully open to the sides. This part also no one highlight to me. I feel they should at least say something during measurement time. So overall... only acceptable lah. Workmanship is fine.... just minor disappointments. Will try to share pictures when I have the time. So busy these days.
  3. Mine turn out quite ok. Not the best work... but acceptable lor.
  4. If his parents stay near Bishan, you may want to consider Bishan as well. I have seen those new 4rm flats at AMK... at 91sqm... the place is quite small (esp living room space) and usually have a few odd corners. Older flats between 8 to 25 years old in Bishan is much more spacious. Most are also cheaper than the ones near AMK hub. My view.... don't attached too much plus points for the flat being near to AMK Hub... afterall... how often exactly do you have to visit the hub? What is important is the distance to work... which, like it or not, you must take that trip at least 5 times a week. Personally, I don't mind older flats that is not nicely done up... then you have a free hand... create the home that you want... a home that completely suits your needs. Sure... its hard work .... but your home leh... the efforts are worth the while. What's crucial is the flat's layout... cause you cannot really change that. My two cents.
  5. I also don't like the see the ugly wires. I once saw in one of the many furniture shops I have visited, there was a TV console that comes with an attached vertical board behind that acts as some sort of mobile feature wall. It is meant for mounting flat screen TV and hiding ugly wires. I think it was a shop in JB near Giant Hypermart. Sorry... not very sure now. But If you can find that... then it will solve your problem. A feature wall may not work for you... since you have aircon on top. But you can always show a contractor pictures of my partition wall and see if they can do something similar... maybe possible since the partition wall is kept upright because it is attached to the main wall... and not the ceiling. No harm asking around.
  6. No... not one piece... as I understood... it came into Singapore inside one of three truck loads of furniture! Many JB shops use transport companies to send their furniture. So transport companies will pull the orders and pack the truck full before they set off. No economies of scale if they just send one piece. Guess at the end of the day.. it is how the transport company's workers handle the furniture. Depending on luck I guess.... but it is good if you and others can feedback to the shop... then they may not use this transport company again.
  7. As of 1 March.... we are officially Bishanians!!
  8. No... it came well-wrapped. No visible external scratches except for a chip inside... more like a manufacture QC problem rather than a transport issue. Ya... I know the pictures looks like white light... it doesn't do justice to the actual lighting effect that we have.
  9. Decent looking TV consoles in Singapore are so overpriced! Not worth buying in my books. Actually... all my lights are warm lights except for the kitchen. In real life... the T-5 lights looks more romantic and warm.... but when I take pictures using my hp... it always turns out a bit more whitish. The TV console is great! Very solid construction and consequently... very heavy. In fact, both my wife and I were standing on the console to stick winkplay decals... as it is as stable as a rock..... don't regret buying it at all. It actually comes with blue lights bulit in... but I don't think I will plug it in and use it. Not necessary.
  10. Got my TV console from a JB furniture shop... transport, levy and GST all in.... RM1000 or about S$440. T-5 lights are thin strip of flourescent lights... often used to install inside furniture because they are thinner than the usual flourescent tubes.
  11. OK.... here are pictures of my completed partition wall with TV mounted. I have also included a side picture. The partition wall is actually attached to the main wall... but it is covered up nicely. The T-5 lights are also tucked in behind so that others will not see them from the sides. Let me know what you think! This is a shot of my living room... with the 3-piece oil painting we bought from Shenzhen.
  12. Definitely not a good idea to get a combi. Combi usually can only dry half the load... so it is silly... cause when you wash 5kg... you ideally want to dry 5kg as well... if you can only dry half... then u have to spend twice the drying time. Somemore it is usually more ex. If you have the space... do go for two separate machines.
  13. Hi all.... Just moved into our new place! Some teething problems but sorting them out one by one. Anyways.. I just got my computer set up. To answer your questions... I did not do full width of the wall for three main reasons 1) 6ft width is meant to match my 6ft TV console, 2) So that I can put T-5 lights behind the partition wall, 3) to save costs!! The partition wall is full height end-to-end. Back of the wall is steel and wood, so that it can support the weight of the TV. As for how they did it...err... I wasn't there to watch... so I dono. The TV can be mounted by the TV guys or the contractor. But usually it is the TV guy as part of the service for new TV purchase. If old TV, then pay lor. My TV is already up and TV console in place! I just spent some time earlier to link up my SCV and DVD recorder. Complete!! I will stick winkplay as deco for the wall tomorrow and will try to post some pictures. I have also spend time over the weekend putting up the oil paintings we bought from Shenzhen and mirrors from Ikea. The place really looks great!! Still got some unpacking to but glad that it is 70% done! Will keep u guys posted... so watch out for more pictures!
  14. Here u go... btw... it is not a feature wall of any kind at all... it is just a partition wall with steel frame back to wall mount my TV and hide the wires behind.
  15. Brass also won't rust right? Why not? Don't like the design?
  16. Bought it about two weeks ago... they seem to have enough stock... and I don't think business is "booming" at Tradehub. Anyways, for the same set in other Adamas outlets, I was quoted $150-$160... so I figured for $70 savings, why not travel to Tradehub? You should have a direct bus from TPY, free parking if you drive... take it as an outing lor... can go look look see see furniture as well.
  17. Sure... will try to post a picture tonight.... for the wall complete with TV console and plasma, you'll have to wait till Monday.
  18. Yes... it is not a good job. Unfortunately, some things are too small to ask for a total recall, even if it is their fault.... in such cases, we have to live with the luck element. But if more of such cases happen, then the supplier will be throwing away their own reputation. I only hope that since mine is after CNY, they will have more time to do a proper job. I know you did not rush them, but unfortunately, it is not necessary the message received down at the factory, especially during CNY. I am already commitment myself, so just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
  19. Hi Jule, Thanks for the picture. This must be your romain blinds? I can see that the snitching is poor... and maybe affected by the metal bar running through? How about your day and night curtains where you were not satisfied with the workmanship. Got pictures to share? Mine will be installed this Sat... need to learn what to look out for. Thanks!!
  20. Bought a SS 7-piece set (toilet roll holder, twin towel bar, glass shelf, tooth brush and soap holder, hand towel ring and single hook), matt finishing at Adamas at TradeHub 21 for $90. I think it is quite cheap and value buy. Strange... the same set in other Adamas branches costs $160, so I had to go back there to get my set. The guy says it is definitely SS and will not rust. Dono about the density though... do check it out if you are there... quite nice.
  21. Mine part of whole reno job. So dono who is the carpenter. If you want, I can ask my contractor for the contact, but I doubt it will be $350 for a stand alone job.
  22. Wow... didn't know your pocket so deep. Silly of me to talk about Seahorse brand for the mid to lower class citizens like me... haha. You are in a totally different league. Glad you got a sofa set that you like. Full leather is a good option compared to half leather.... it pays in the long run. My half leather 2-seater recliner now has two different and very obvious patches of yellow! Sigh Just remember to clean it every two months or so and wipe with leather protector. Else, the leather skin will tear over time. Furniture shops always like to pull out tricks like adding transport, GST and some even have installation costs! One shop told me "no GST", then when they were issuing invoice and GST was added, the boss told me the salesman English no good, what he meant was "not inclusive of GST"! Sigh... all sorts of people in this world. No lah... don't think it is common for shops to charge installation of sofa. Sometimes, sofas will come in pieces for east transport and fit through narrow doors. Then, workers will assemble it together with power tools there and then. But these costs are definitely included. Not to worry.
  23. Not much space difference lah.... I just not as rich as you... haha. My original living room also very narrow... but I shifted a bedroom wall, making it smaller so as to enlarge my living room. Now my living area feels so much more spacious! I also want nice nice feature wall.... but just like your quote indicated... it will costs well above 1k.... a luxury I cannot afford. But my partition wall turned out quite nice... especially the T-5 lights at the back and painted a different colour from my other walls. My TV console will be delivered this Sat and plasma will be up by this Sun.... hope there will be no issues and it will look good after installation.
  24. To save cost, I have installed a 6ft wide partition wall in front of my living room wall. This is reinforced with steel so it is strong enough to hold a 42" flat screen TV. They cut a 10cm hole on the middle and one at the bottom so that your wires can stick out and connect to your DVD, SCV..etc on your existing TV console. This partition wall... with paint finishing, cost me $350. May cost more if it is a stand alone job. Not as nice as bro Yang Guo's but I like it cause it is plain and simple. If you want it to look more posh... you can DIY wallpaper finishing or stick wickplay on the wall. I am sticking wickplay stickers ($69) on my wall to give it more character. Btw... I have also installed T-5 4ft tube lights on the sides of the partition wall to create a glowing effect on the back of my wall. FYI. Just some options you can consider.
  25. Btw... half leather doesn't mean that the non-leather part is only at the back. Even the support area and the sides are made of PVC. Over time, the two materials will have different colour... so you have to decide if you are ok with that.
