Yes, it is tiring. Kinda a miracle because was still thinking lots of stuff like not settled yet. But just over 1 Sat, can settle so many things. Bluberi - ID told me to get 1st so he can tell carpenter how to do. How come yr ID so cute one? Wire-baskets easier and cheaper to change compared to cabinets.
-
Yup yup... i typo. Flea mkt only 1 floor normally. Shd be same place. That place confirm must cut more than 1/2 price quoted. My BIL who stayed there (thus he brought us there 2 yrs back) told us he will chop 80% off the price quoted. Initially i was like, can meh? But when we see him do, then we know can work.

Hob & Hood - Which Brand Should I Buy?
skywolf replied to joper's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi Keltong, For a combi of both flame + vitroceramic or flame + induction, which brands carry them? -
Visit for houses t bio their works after getting a first quote.
-
I'm looking around for a hob too. When we went to Asia Excel y'day, were recommended Fujioh or Rinnai as these are more of 'asian fire' aka big flames which is more suitable for asian style of cooking. Not sure if it's true. Other than cast-iron grids, what else shd I look out for?
-
Cheap price you got there. 20k may be kinda tough to work upon, seeing tt you are having a bar counter, WIW and revamping of both toilets (hack+tiling). And tempered glass doors will not out of a sudden break de. Why only left 1 bedrm for kids? You can convert the study rm to a room too. Just tt the windows cannot open most of the time because it's facing the corridor...
-
Hee hee... you are very near to my blk. And yr floor plan is my mirror opposite. Second unit along corridor? WIW in the MBR? Erm, it may be a bit cramp if you guys are gg for king size bed. Unless you guys do not need extra chest of drawers along the window part... that's how i feel for my place. Spam spam for more pics~

Even door frame color choosing is a headache. Tempted to just use black for dark brown doors.
-
No prob. I was referring to the Balestier branch... Just rem tt they have other branches.
-
What's movie door? Btw, I founf the ntuc just now while exploring. Haha!

Ya leh, the kitchen baskets are those 90cm pull out ones which are below the cooker. Those that are going to be hung on the walls behind the sink we need not buy first coz Steven said that one can wait till cabinets are done. Then can agar the distance to put those up. Heng, save some $ first. Had not tallied the damage done y'day. Fan model is FFM2000 (tio bo ). Its @ 115 (fan) + 35 (3 bulbs) light kit + 15 (top up for energy saving bulbs). So each is $200. We got 2 of them @ 52". I had already prep my hubby on the long journey that day in anticipated of the black face that normally came out for such long schedules. I told him, you also dowan to take leave and do all these right? And then you still want to play your online game on evenings right? Doors @ YT are $220 each w installation. But added the GST so its abt $235 each. Look for Kaiwen instead of the aunty whom another forummer said macham owe her $$$. Ask for the door stoppers too (i asked and she gave us foc, so dunno if normally need to pay or not). Did the veneer door that your ID gave u is hollow kind or solid kind? YT is the solid kind wor. Perhaps you can ask yr ID then decide? But if $100, perhaps you may let the ID earn a bit? Then along e way, see can ask him to top up a bit here and there? Or you can go YT and see their main doors? My main door and grille is done by ID, we didnt even bother to compare. Now I wonder why I didnt thought of that. But nvm lah, dun think too much. Haha! Haiz, now thinking abt paint colors. We dowan white walls. White ceilings already coz ID said we are not doing plastering, so if paint blue or other color, when lights are switched on, can see the unevenness. Is this true? Most probably doing a darker color for the bedrms bed area and the rest of the 3 walls in a lighter shade. But dunno abt living room. Ah~ dilemma...

Nice browns. We have lots of browns too. Thought the buyer allowing you guys to stay on first? Darrenelle, LSH has a branch just before Hafary when you walked towards Hafary... It's the first shop (i think) and Hafary is the last shop along that stretch.

Oh wow! Shanghai! =) Is the flea market the one somewhere that's not accessible by mrt and its a erm, 4 storey bldg? A place where if you ask for a price and just go without buying, they'll hurl curses at you for even asking? A wholesale area where most of the local ppl buy their stuff and mark up @ outside normal shops? Nice view your mei's apt has.

I hope tt the extension will be secured to the bottom shelves. Coz I whd hate to know that they can collaspe front-wards if something slam at the front of the main cabinet. And yeah, I do not want them to secure it against the wall also. Minimise the drilling involved + possibility tt removing it in the future will be a pain. I suppose when I went down next time, have to see how the corner unit fits now and get my feeling of the ext unit collasping assuaged.
-
And our bank account went:
-
Yeah. I'm thinking of getting the corner unit + the extension height (to maximise the space up there)... so deliberating shd we get either ikea ppl or our id to drill the holes and fix it into the wall so tt it will not collaspe down. Perhaps yours has no ext unit so you use the U-hook to secure it b/w the shelves? But i had heard that once ikea stuff are mounted on the wall, next time if want to dismantle it, the thing will be gone case. So dilemma nw also...
-
Huh... Keltong... the corner unit no longer available ah? I saw it there last mth still! :~ Any idea if other series have the corner unit? I need one with an ext for my study. Btw, when you fixed yrs 10 yrs ago, was it affixed to the wall? Or you leave it there standing on its own?
-
Hee hee.... dun worry.... shd be ok.... Cheers!
-
Wah!! Balcony in MBR! If i were you, i'll hack the wall b/w mbr toilet and balcony, and then have a L-shape wet and dry bathrm !! With a bathtub in the middle and glass doors at the L-shape... *dreaming*
-
Oh, that side ah... Ok... coz i hardly ventured into tt side yet... normally will go Tampines mall there... My parents side there lagi more nearer to mrt. I'm walking to mrt stn to work daily. 10 mins walk. Next time must take bus. zz

Today we went on a roadmarch. Roadmarch because it feels like we are going into a battle. A battle against time! That's what happened because earlier on, we didnt do much. Haha. ourselves. We started off to Ikea at 10+am. Hubby didnt want me to spend too much time coz he know i will drag him to see this and that. But then, it's so hard to get hard to get him to Ikea wor. He just dosen't feel the exciteness in shopping for home stuff. Showed him the bookshelves series and the Grundal (Grentel?) series. Since Gruntel didnt have the pull our 90cm wire basket thingy, we left after picking up the catalogues (and ID said these can be installed after cabinet is up - not so soon). Next stop was Hau Hau Parquet where we placed a deposit for the parquet platforms. Because it was a Sat, and they balek kampong @ 1pm, so we were in a bit of a rush. And as ID do not just do the installation for us, we will most prob be getting the installer tt HauHau recommended. Hope everything is fine for this outsourcing part. Total amt w installation shd be abt $1.1k. We then went to Hoe Kee @ Tg Katong Complex to bio the wire baskets. Theirs was quite expensive so we went by to Poh Joo to get theirs instead (dmg - $310 for 2x90cm, and 1 for the sauces thingy). But we saw a rainshower set @ Hoe Kee tt we liked. Now hoping friend who's in this line can get it to us @ cheaper price. Onwards to next stop to **** Doors @ Eunos Ave 5 (or road 5). Shop was recommended in forum and coicidentally FIL said get from them. So, we placed a deposit for the 4 bedrm doors - kindly sponsored by FIL. Total amt here - $941.60 after GST. Go west ~ life is peaceful there *sings* :bleah: Next stop - GC @ IMM to get the system 4 invertor. With 1/2 inch armaflex, the refridgerent for the saving planet thingy, drainage pipe 16mm, cu gauge of 23, total came to $3949. Yeah, we topped up for the warranty @ 399, coz sales rep there said if anything wrong for invertor units, they change the whole pcb board, not just the chip that's spoilt. Hubby said top-up then (initially we din feel the need to)... Went to Asia Excel to lok see the hobs. I dunno which to choose but sales rep from there said normally ppl buy Rinnai/Fujioh/Herfale (?) coz of the asian cooking - fire big big kind. Was debating which to get still. I know it seems silly to buy based on it's looks, but i really dunno what to look out for. Guessed i need to read up more in RT on hobs. Went to Thomson lightings @ 2nd floor. Uncle there quoted me double bulb downlight @ 31 and single @ 26. Even if buy more downlights, he lowered to price to 24 only. He laffed off the notion of e-ballast. But then, he was OMO and with quite a no. of customers, he couldnt stay there for us to ask for long. So nvm, we left for Chelsea lightings @ JE. The last stop of the day, Chelsea lightings... Sadly, they also said e-ballast no gd, can last 9mths or so, and if gone, got to fix a new one. But then, since our fans will be with lightkits, we figured the downlights may be used more often when there's ppl visiting. So, we LL went for the normal downlights. Remembered someone said @ GreyCat's hse tt downlights spoilt also no pt replacing, coz hardly used anyway. We bought: 22 single bulb downlights @ $18 each. 1 double bulb downlight for MBR wardrobe there @ $25. 3 milo tin lights (which is so cuteee to me...) @ $45 each this 5 bulb thingy light for study rm (can be straightened in 1 line/zig zag pattern) @ $160 a 40W round black border light for kitchen @ $85 2 normal round lights for the other 2 bedrms @ 28 each. (did i mention the covers have maple leaves? ) Nope, no pics. Coz I forgot to bring camera again. But guess the lights shd be pretty standard bahz. Spent $850 in there. With the sink purchase last week + 2 fanco fans (which i dun understand how come they close so early when i called @ 7+), we are left with the basins and taps and mixers. Hopefully, they can be settled by next week. Off to do some account balancing !!
-
Back from a day of BUY BUY BUY. Havent tallied how much we spent today. But hor, Chelsea lightings downlights dun have e-ballast! Sobz. Bought the normal one @ 18 after discount. If want electronic, must pay more, and lady said e-ballast last 9mths niah, and when spoilt, need to pay ppl to fix the whole thing. Haiz. Shack-ed from house shopping.
