  1. u pay for watever is written on ur quotation lor, doesnt it state how many feet ur cabinets are?
  2. oh dear, i just installed a frameless glass door in my toilet too... can u PM me the company who is in charge of ur glass door? did ur ID gave u warrenty for the reno? i think i better ask my ID to state the warrenty of his workmanship on my quotation...
  3. btw, i suspect if they are doing too slow, could mean they wan to make use of ur hse to show ppl, thats why dun wan handover to owners so quickly.. anyway, just my guess, could be other reasons..
  4. unless.. the owner has got something to gain out of it. if u can, it is betetr to go down to see ard 3 showflats by the ID u have shorlisted b4 u sign. some IDs got problems bringing ppl to view more than 1 show flat.. i figured this could mean 3 things: 1) his business so good he got no time to bring u 2) he got no enough showflats/customers so have trouble arranging more to let u see 3) worse, the only one he brought u to is his friend friends' apartment coz he just got no showflat to show u ~just guessing~ btw, my ID belongs to the (1), i know becoz he's very popular in all the reno forums.
  5. it is not true that the reno will exceed ur intended [rice, it only happens when ur ID/contractor is not honest OR u did not brief them properly in DETAIL. over 90% of the ID/contractors will breakdown individual pricing for u in ur quote. i think it is ESSENTIAL so u know which are the ones they overcharge and which are the other ones u can let them do.
  6. wo.. why u visit the hi end ones? in my personal opinion, best dun spend more than 13K for a 4room premium, coz no matter hw nice u reno, it is STILL a 4 room lah... and after u buy the electricals and micelleneous, u will find out, u probably need to spend ard $25-30K for the whole hse!.. and all these are just the BASIC items nia.
  7. looks EXPENSIVE.. better get a few more quotes. ur kitchen cabinet is $250 per foot run??!! usual is $70 to $100 pfr nia Okay. tell them to go fly kite. I got a research price list in my "signature", u can use for ur reference. hope it helps.
  8. oh dear, that sounds quite complicated, but frm wat i know, we have to engage a HDB lisenced reno contractor to hack hse wall, u can use their PE (usually they will charge $100 comission) or u can get ur own PE. the cheapest PE i found is ard $250 - $380 but depending on ur hse location. but hw can ur contractor be missing? dont they have a shop where u can look him up? is he not registered with HDB?
  9. when u make ur whole hse windows, you can request the window contractor to give u free bars... mine gave me free 4 bars ard 5 feet each and helped me drill into my bathroom area FOC! so nice hee
  10. i think the few IDs who complain in here are just too stress to think straight.. so lets not add on to their fustration and let them be la.. sooner or later they will just realise watever they type here probably isnt going to change anything.
  11. well, ppl with little budget will hav different way of doing things frm ppl who hav too much $ i guess. i do feel very miserable when i realise that we do not have enough budget to do even some basic things that everyone else is having for their hse.. so the very least i can do for my new hse is more research.. in the hope of saving some $.. we all have our own fustrations to deal with but venting it in here is not gg to change the way things work around us, isnt it.. might as well spend our time on other more constructive things.
  12. I agree a lot ppl are lazy and do not do research, they just come in here and put up a new thread and expect some help (btw, i not targeting the TS la) ... but this kind of action is appearing everywhere la, not only Singapore.. u just have to accept it.. they are also contributing to the activity to the forum mah... although i know some ppl who gei gei post and ask "HOW IS ***** ID?" When IN FACT they themselves are the ID!! they ask questions, then pretend to reply with a good comment using a few nicknames, they think all forummers are as stupid as them.
  13. wow, so much anger in this thread, true true a significant number of us, including myself have bad mouth many IDs, but we only speak hw we really feel towards a service, and there is freedom of speech in forum right? in every job, ur bound to meet some difficult customers as for the perspective drawing, u can change change a bit and use it to present to ur next client also mah? regarding follow up calls, meself also had missed a number of calls frm various IDs and i didnt call back. but i tot any service providers should knw enough not to hang on to just 1 single customer - not true? it is true that every ID we choose, we hav take this 'risk and be 'responsible' for wat we get, since we are the ones 'who asked for it' (their service). why not think of it this way: maybe the customer that you lost is a blessing in disguise for urself? coz he/she could be very hard to please/serve. it is disturbing to knw there are these kind of ppl who has taken up a lot of their ID's time and in the end didnt even respond to their follow up calls, did it ever occur to u, they might be fake customers/ even ur competitors? (just like we have a lot of fake forummers in here as well, btw, u know who u r) everyone of us here has had their fair share of bad luck, just shrugg it off and move on bah.
  14. my own reno havnt even start yet so i cant tell u if it will be good. as for the rest, best you can visit their showrooms urself to make a more accurate judgement. cheers
  15. well i am sure any human being would find it is MOSt absurb to be paying 90% when the materials are not even delivered to the customers place. u mean b4 carpentary are up must collect 90%, when materials not even delivered mah?! u Really think it's reasonable? i tink i am gg to pay him max just 40% Upon delivery of materials and the rest in stages till completion.
  16. the lowest quote i got was $70 pfr for solid top and $85pfr for cabinets., but i settle with my ID who charged me only a bit higher coz he give me 3 pcs of glass doors for cabinets in steel/aluminium frame the highest quote pfr i got is $120 - $130 for cabinets and only 2 pcs of glass doors.. and i never stepped into that place again. hope this helps.
  17. got mine for $580 for a plain gloss laminated (tic tac door) type if u wan a horizontal mirror across, will cost additional $150-200, if i rem correctly. mine is 6 feet btw.
  18. Hi TS, i just received this frm HDB in my Email: http://app.orc.gov.sg/Home.aspx it is an electronic reporting service for members of the public to lodge reports to government agencies, without having to know which agency is in-charge of a particular issue. Currently, 11 agencies are participating in the ORC. maybe u will need it?
  19. mine is as follows: 10% deposit 30% start wet works 50% start carpentary works 10% full completion i alr made 10%, but he wanted to collect the 30% and 50% at the same time b4 he start on the carpentary and wetworks.. which means he will have collected 90% frm me even b4 he deliver any carpentry materials to my house!! is this normal??!!? ^_~
  20. oh dear.. anyways, i remember somewhere in this forum got a link to te HDB page , inside are all the emails and ph nos of the management u can complain shoddy work of ur contractor to. but i forgot where i saw it liao. if u happen to find it can let me knw again/ tia!
  21. yes they are.. in fact they are the most mentioned in renotalk, thats why i used them... haiz... i dun wan to mention names yet, .. nvmd, i'll get him to retify the problem by this week and see hw. i tot BCA approved one will definately got standard, so i trusted them :/ if u wan to do windows, i suggest u go down to their showroom and look at their quality first.. dun end up like me...
  22. Hi all! I need help.. CAN I KNOW THE USUAL No of Years given for the WARRENTY for the windows??? I know the glass panel must be at least 0.5cm and grilles must be double-hollow and such, but i overlooked the thickness of the FRAME for the grilles as i tot it should be of acceptable standard. when the windows were delivered to my hse, the frames are so light (a bit flimsy) i can use 3 fingers to lift them up! is this usual??? will my glass panels be secured in those kind of frames?? wat if it falls off.. O_O my old hse window frame is MUCH harder than my new hse one, such that, when i use a bit force, my new frame easily get a dent in it.. wat should i do??? is this normal standard??? the contractor workmanship also not good...i was recommanded by this contractor after sourcing for recommandations in this forum and 3 ppl said they got standard, but its not true for my case.. all my window corners got gaps after joining, very rough workmanship. worse thing is the window frame so Light and thin!! Wat should i do.... HELP...
  23. IF ur budget is only $12K, why r u still doing LBox? just doing the kitchen cabinets and masterroom wardrobe and bomb shelter + 2vanity cabinets for ur toilets will be ard $12K liao. provided u do the painting of the hse by urself. if u wan everything listed in ur quote it can never be $12K. frm wat i see, they are like giving u many items FOC, it looks quite worth the price. but i feel tere are many tings u can cut down on, like the L box and shoe rack thing, but it's up to individual needs la.
  24. i got mine Toshiba from Gain City Imm, its a system 3 inverter (16,10,10) 5 years warrenty for parts and labour . $2855 NO DISCOUNT at all !! who say can get at $2.7K from IMM gain City they REFUSED to deduct a single cent! issit usual they dun give discount at all? and NO Freebies also sianzzz just to add, i got mine in mid March
  25. oh, that was quick, maybe i am too kiasi, but if i were u i will re-write my own quote in simple terms and email it to as many IDs as possible lol Example: 1) Labour cost for Haulage, loading and unloading works of ALL materials 2) To supply labour for transporting materials to stated address, labour for installation and supply all materials needed for renovation (just a suggestion )
