  1. Which hotel are you staying in? Think the one near the Ben Than market is the new world. what type of house hold stuff? Basically you can go to Dong Khoi st. and the main shopping area is there, make sure you bargain. Ben Than market is also great for shopping but depends on what you want to buy. The embroidered stuff like table cloth etc is quite nice.. and they have some great art galleries also. I go to HCMC almost once a month on biz so pm me if you want to know more specific stuff.
  2. wow, that's a very neon green the previous owners !!! didn't they get a constant headache? good luck though.. your flat reminds me of my first ever rental flat when i moved to SG, exact same layout.. lots of good memories in that smallplace
  3. this will make your water bill go crazy, but i would suggest running your machine once with nothing in it, just water, this will ensure the machine gets a 'fresh' start..
  4. for the kitchen, I would recommend the Song Cho products, used them in my old house for 10 yrs, no rust, no problems at all... so sad the new owners decided to throw them all away!!!
  5. the condo provided MK for our place, we kept it for the other 2 bedrooms but changed to legrand in the MBR only cause their champagne colour matched our decor more... we do notice that loud click with the MK switches but not with the legrand ones.
  6. that's a harrowing thought mace...
  7. hi happy, yeah.. think the older we get, the simpler we want things. For me, I wanted a simpler pallete, so i can add my own accents wih art and interesting pieces of furniture. Plus I have the option of moving things around! I've succumbed this time though and had a tv console built coz we just couldn't figure out how to hang the tv in the living room! which reminds me i have to update my t-blog
  8. hmm Mace... took the words out of my mouth! I think a lot of the so-called ID's in Singapore have a lot to answer for. They offer themes and cut and paste schemes for their customers to choose from, no creativity at all. Many of the ID firms I spoke to, and I spoke to a LOT kept asking me for a theme, rather than trying to understand our personality, lifestyle and needs... what will i do with a modern contemporary theme for example, if I have to spend the rest of the next few years caring for the black laminate kitchen cupboards?? Sometimes, people forget function over form, cove lighting may look nice, but are a **** to clean (can you imagine how much dust settles inside those??) It's great to do up a house that's worthy of a magazine feature, but one must remember that the stylist comes once, maintaining the house is one's responsibility... and from the on-set, a easy to maintain house is 100X better than a fashionably stylish house! Or is it coz I'm so much older that i know think this way?? notice i avoided calling you "kor" coz i think i'm a little (or a lot) older than you
  9. hi isasoap, we've moved in too!!! must catch up one of these days.... ps your planter looks great!
  10. hehe, you can come over anytime instead was so busy today i totally forgot to take any pictures! handover is tomorrow, quite exciting. but I think Lesley is super duper stressed !

  12. can't believe we'll be moving to the new place on tuesday! The lights will be installed tonight, and the finishing of the carpentry... can't wait to see how everythng looks like!
  13. no worries, glad i could have helped. just remember to insist with your ID you want one whole piece of plywood, no joining so there won't be that ugly line in the middle (they will have to special order the 3 meter board), and the measurement must be exact so it sits nicely against the wall, as small a gap as possible. Also, there should be a 2-3mm overhang of the timber to the wall (dunno why but hb insisted and I do agree it looked nicer) If you need any help, don't hesitate to get in touch....
  14. Hi Steve, here is how the timber at the bay window looks like
  15. hi hi... i love those kitchen you posted!! my dream kitchen too!!! told hb one day we have to move to a house with a kitchen big enough to put my dream kitchen too!! stainless steel all over, integrated everything... no harm to dream!

  20. haha yah!!!! the 3+1 is bigger but the MBR and bedroom 2 is smaller i think... i actually liked it coz that small nook is nice... btw, do you have a ledge in your bathroom? i just realized some unit have a ledge in the shower area.. mine doesn't
  21. ranval, try to pour some dishwashing detergent on the pan, add a squeeze of lemon or a tsp of white vinegar, bring to a boil, and soak it overnight.
  22. thank you! actually to be honest, I really dread leaving my current place. Coz am so used to the area and it's so much bigger!! hi.. yup... coffee/drinks by the pool! I haven't really tested the pressure, coz all the taps etc still covered in plastic. Will check in at when we go and keep you posted! I think most of the layouts are the same. just bigger or smaller only! yours is the 3 bedroom or the 3+1?
  23. don't have time to go and take pics today.. but here is the light i had to convince hb a few weeks to get before he would agree this is the light hb chose for the entrance to the MBR will find the light to the MBR and post later.....
