  1. Really? I thought many would have done the same as us. Of course, some may forget during the midst of the reno saga. Hey hi, hahaha. I never knew we have a follower. Ok, shall give you more updates. For those who are still keen and following my reno progress...here's some updates. Please feel free to comment. The reno is done. Our only pending jobs are:- 1. Putting up the curtains and blinds 2. Putting up our kitchen glass door decal 3. Putting up our passage way wallpaper 4. Bringing in all the furnitures of course!!! 5. Move in..hahaha...although I have been taking showers there now once in awhile Happy Viewing...
  2. So how much you paid for your 'barcelona' chair in the end? From whom did you buy it from huh? Curious. Still in my "wish list". Love the white one too...
  3. Depends on who you are engaging. For Prof Yu, he will not entertain any enquiries that are more then 3 mths ahead.
  4. Hi sisters...thanks for all your recommendation. We have just confirmed and register with Prof Yu. Wish me luck
  5. Hi qinzheng80, Welcome to your reno journey. Our contractor isn't the exactly the cheapest around but we found his pricing a lot better then those IDs out there who has no flair in originality. Most importantly, we feel no one understand our design needs better then us do. The kitchen cabin should be around $3500 +/- for 24ft. His workmanship is good and he is a very responsible contractor. One discovery we made during the course of our reno is that he really is a 'trouble-shooter'. There's nothing he can't do when come to issues pertaining to reno works. We give him a thumbs up and will still use him if we have any future reno needs. Cheers & have fun in your process.
  6. Hi Honeygal, it's indeed hard to imagine the blend between a barcelona chair with rosewood armchairs. But if you like it, who cares right? Are you buying an original barcelona chair? There are many replica these days. Think we saw it at V-hive and Comfort Furnishing. Hey, don't fret. There are always pros and cons. Sometimes it's better to rely on ourselves then someone else. Own time own target. No need to push or assume responisibility on who do what. When you targeting to move in?
  7. Hey hi, thanks for the compliment. Send you the contacts for the 'designer' or carpenter huh? We din use a ID one wor
  8. Halo congrats too. Finally your reno 'worries' is coming to an end Do post up some pics when the furnishing are in eh? Your reno work seems very clean and modern, whilest I remember your finishing ideas are a little oriental antique kind. Looking forward to see the final fusion look...
  9. hahaha...there's still a long way to go. I was pretty enthusiastic at the beginning but it got very scary towards the end. Especially when there were an over dosed of lights shopping for us. I cannot imagine myself walking down Jalan Besar or Balestier again. Well, not for a very long time at least. Some how it got very torturing when you see something that you like but know for sure it’s a big blow to your wallet. One of the shops we prefer in designs (except Kartell) is Lightology but their pricing can be a bit over whelming. Flyingballoons is right about the two shops at Jurong/Lake Side, we too could not find a light we could best identify with. Well, it really depends on how particular you are. The best lessons we learnt from these light hunting is probably a PLC down-light can cost from approximately $18 to even $80. Tell me about it…not fun wor.
  10. Hi, any recommendation on who we can engage? If you had yours and would love to share...we will be extremely greatful. If you have heard of any good ones, please share them with us Thanks in advanced.
  11. There are pros and cons. A couple of times when we were upstairs, no one attended to us. This is despite the fact that we have picked up the 'internal' phone to intercom. There are always cheaper alternatives, depending on what you are looking for. Best is to cruise a couple of shops to make a final decision. If it's not a signature light piece, you may take the advice of some forummers here to shop at Kelantan or your neighbourhood shop. There are some decent ones at Jurong in fact. Have fun in the process. Lights shopping was one of the most painful process for us. hahaha
  12. I am not particularly impressed with them. Most of their staff are foreigners it seems and not exactly pro-active. Price range is middle range and service level is slightly below middle range...to me lah. Not exactly the cheapest in town. But I must give them a 'thumbs up' for varierty due to their large showroom.
  13. Hey thank you very much for your compliments. We thought more ppl will be drawn to our Common Bath instead...due to the colour combi. I like our MBR mainly because it's designed according to our 'functional' aspect...not that it's anything unusual but at least we know what 'works' for us. I have always been 'trained' and prefer to do my make-up in the bathroom, instead of a seperate dresser. Thus, sufficient display and storage drawer for my barang barang is very important. hehehehe...vain hor I have yet to finalise a few concepts. Sigh...have to juggle the conceptualising and my (official) work 1. The right pattern wallpaper behind our bed. We need something that will not clash with our TV Feature Design. 2. Nice & inexpensive roman curtain (if possible) for our L-Shape window at the study area...located just opposite our WIW. 3. Panel window infront of the aircon compressor. Thought of making it on my own with beads as the one that I like is either not available in Singapore or too expensive.
  14. Wow...the facade is awesome....
  15. hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuh? Ok, she wins. Almost a year!! Steady hahaha
  16. hehehe...you are not alone. Many of our friends also thought our place has been completed. We were extremely slow. It's not the fault of our contractor. We have been too busy to revert to our contractor to tell them what we want. Taking our own sweet time. Gosh! The WIW combination was explored with IKEA's Home Planner software. After designing, we gave the draft to our contractor to custom-make. My mum is screaming her lungs out at me for having no doors to our wardrobe. She worried about dust and not. But I am taking the chance still. Worst off, we will add a door after proven right. hehehehe
  17. Hi, here's mine. Sorry, only managed to capture a teaser view of the sliding door. - Fabricate and install kitchen entrance 10mm clear glass sliding door @ $680.00 - Supply and install sliding door stainless steel pelmet @ $150.00 Total = $830.00
  18. Hi, I have just post up my wardrobe in this URL http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...mp;#entry372571 It's 10ft @ $160 p.s.f. Without doors. Hope it helps...
  19. Some updates on our carpentery. Today, our wardrobe is up. Here's some preview. Must say we are quite happy with it...
  20. err... thanks. are u from there? Anw, no worries if u are lah. Can u tell me the price on average per roll? Cheers Tried that too. Not too cheap also leh...
  21. From your story, I suddenly recall the 'notorious' Joo Jiat neighbours case. I think neighbours play a very important role in the place we lived. Well, for us at least. During our house hunting, we did chanced upon several nice and ideal units. But after surveying the neighbourhood, we gave several up. For the case of HDBs, may I please comment... 1. Why do they want to hang their clothes outside their door walk way? 2. Why must they hang their bird cage(s) outside their house? 3. If you keep a cat/dog, please ensure they are kept within your home premise or if they need to come out, ensure they are always supervised. 4. Worst case...I have seen some joker putting a sofa outside their house. Gosh...think I better get use to this as I'll be moving to a HDB when my reno is done. haha
  22. Can buy from Spot Light but they dun install for you. Alternatively, you can try Jimmy Textile. I vaguely remember I saw it there...but I am not 100% sure. One more...http://www.yarnnvinyl.com Found this from the web. No comments on them as we did not render their service.
  23. oh that sounds cool. can't wait to see the pic of that. We are also gg to hv our monogram on the kitchen glass sliding door. But details not finalise yet...
