We have half of our balcony in artificial turf. It looks nice, our friends are going :jawdrop: when see it cause we are on the 12th floor and they are not expect to see any kind of "grass" there....... We has it already 1 year, but it is just for decorating purpose only and we are not walk on it. Artificial turf is nice if you are not step on it cause footprint will stay (ater you need to brush it to lift up blades of "grass"). We have some garden pots with plants in it, but since I'm not with 'green fingers' one gardener is coming once monthly to maintaine plants (spray them with chemical, cut the leaves and so on).

Only complaint I have is that recently we noticed black alges on turf around the plant pots (which are very big, btw). Gardener said that is b'cos planters are big and press the turf so rainwater cannot go thru so quickly and stay there few hours or more - and that's happening every time when rain so, on long run, black alges are result.... He clean that every time (try to brush it, but cannot all cause will damage the turf) and put some additional sand on the top of the alges, but still have it at the bottom.....we don't mind so much as it's not so visible, only if you squat and look at that area of turf very close....

Anyway, that will not be the case if our balcony has some roof above, but it's 'open sky' so every drop of rain is there.... Definately alges cannot develop if balcony is sheltered, but we are not allowed to do it (penthouse unit)......

So, except alges, we don't have any other maintainance. Just to brush "grass" if someone walk on it, but that's happened only after gardener's maintainance of plants (and he is doing that after finish with all plants). There is no any changing of colour of turf or any other damage, despite that our balcony is 'open sky' and full exposed to rain and sun (south-east facing).....

Wanted to put pic, but it's raining outside, so maybe next time.....
