Hi Neoby,

Notice you have a shih tzu. Would like to check wit you, does your shih tzu have itch problem? Mine have and been thru so many vets but still cannot, that poor girl has gone thru so many blood test till I see already also heart pain.

Last week I went to a vet and that vet gave her an injection an the itch actually stop totally but my girl seems so restless after that. Went to another vet so second opinion and was told that her liver expended 10times as normal size!! I was so shocked, was told to bring her back 2 weeks later and check again if her liver size has gone down or not, she say it should go down if it's due to the jab. Am now hoping that the enlargement was due to the jab and will reduce bac to normal size once the medication is out of her body.

Not so good news...

went to vet for Betty's skin condition, received a steroid jab to stop the itchiness for 2 weeks, half an antibiotic tablet twice a day for 20 days, then twice a day for weekend only, also got steroid tablet and histamine tablet for emergency.

her current food of 2 pork meat balls with broccoli, pumpkin and brown rice will finish on coming Saturday, with only slight improvement on her skin condition; going to put her on pure vegetarian diet for next 3 months to see result.

The thing is she don't have any skin problem, just the itchiness. The previous vet gave her a long term steroid for 2 months, and the current vet say steroid will cause the expansion of the liver. So hope that it will reduce back to normal after the medication is gone.

Steroid cannot be given as a long term medication lah... can you share which vet does that? I will avoid that vet at all cost.

yes, he has. we avoid chicken and wheat totally. our vet told us there are several reasons and it's more problematic if they overlaps. (1) environment (2) food (3) genes. we changed a new environment recently and he seems better. we are still avoiding chicken and wheat for him.

if it is genes, then no choice but it's gonna be permanent medication, with occasionally blood test to check that he is ok. but we have not done this.

the vet gave steriod issit? cannot give so much one.

BTW, Blink Blink is taking dry food of salmon and potato only. no other stuff. Recently he got back some of the rashes (looks like bites). We think it's either cos he went out and was near grass and leaves or the duck treat. So stopping both.

BTW, cannot eat so much steriod. no good. if you need vet recommendation, i can pass to you.

Betty is seeing Dr Hsu and Dr June Tan for all her conditions at Animal Clinic at Telok Kurau Lorong L since puppy; her yearly vaccine are done there, her sterilization was done by Dr Hsu. She loves to bark (scold) all the vets and staffs whenever she visits them.

wow!! it's been about 5 months since i moved in. i thought all will be settled. but yesterday while washing the bathroom, i discovered this....

PipeBracket.jpg

I was like...wtf!!!!

Anyway, I told Rick from Idealhouse about this and I also decided not to let his man come rectify. I dont want another reason like the tile is too hard or it's just hairline crack.

Renovation journey has not been easy, also not as hard as some others.

I appreciate the fact that he allowed me to totally cancel the windows work and replace with L box in living room. I also appreciate that the project finished way advance of the original schedule.

I am not happy with the carpentry work...still is..the reason that it's human workmanship when defects were found.

In this 5 months, I also changed the dish drainer tray 2 times. The carpenter said I should clear the water in the tray, else the rubber at the sides will spoil resulting in the leaking problem I had. My reply, it's only 5 months. I had not told him my office dish tray was there for 5 years and it's working fine.

Anyway, lessons learnt. Guys, please remember to check the brackets as well.

And you guys with this white patchy problem on your floor tiles, you can try this advice from Hafary.

Tilewhitening.jpg

I believe the white stains that you are seeing could be mineral residue from the tile. As porcelain tile are made from clay, the mineral might rise to the surface resulting in this issue. It could also be hard water stains (limescale), which is a result of a build-up of alkaline in hard water. (Some areas in Singapore are luckier as they get soft water!)

You might like to try a household method for this problem:Dip clean cloth in white distilled vinegarRub the cloth over the tiles with “stains”. Vinegar will counteract with the mineral deposits and remove them.Soak another cloth in clean water and wipe to clean the vinegar off.If there are any remaining residue, use a pH balanced cleaner to clean it off.Do make sure that no soap suds or vinegar are left behind.

Acid based cleaners are usually targeted to remove stains. However, they are not recommended for everyday cleaning as it could lead to discoloration of the tile.Hence, use them sparingly and at the targeted spots if you have to!Other than the above method, you can also try to purchase specialised products from DIY stores. These will contain some form of acids as well so they should not be used for everyday cleaning.
