Hi All,

We just bought a resale 8yrs old HDB flat. Need to do some reno and on budget. I don't cook much but like to have a new kitchen.

Please help to advice if this kitchen quote(minus hacking) is high?

Carpentry Works

-Design, fabricate & install bottom kitchen cabinet in laminate and ABS trimming(with s/steel laminate backing) - $2340

-Design, fabricate & install top kitchen cabinet with ABS trimming and laminate(13ft) - $1690

-Design, fabricate & install L shaped granite top kitchen cabinet(18ft) - $2880

Wet Works

-Supply labour & materials to construct L shape new kitchen w/m & fridge base with tiles - $520

Plumbing Works

-Supply labour to re-position kitchen sink outlet & inlet(cold piping) - $280

-Supply labour to re-position w/m outlet & inlet(cold piping) - $180

-Supply labour to install kitchen sink & tap - $60

-Supply labour to install w/m tap - $40

The granite top seems pricey but i have no idea what's the next best thing. The common tops used in SG is Corian and/or laminates? These tops were be less pricer but are they gonna last?

Hi,

A common cheaper alternative is solid surface. It's good enough to last for years. I think you meant 'postform' when you said 'laminates'. The older generation used postform and it lasted them for ages as well but most of us don't use them anymore. Solid surface looks better and feels more solid.
