Where To Go For Good Quality Furniture At Affordable Prices?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Fiance and I are moving into our new place very soon. Collecting keys next Monday.

Been planning our furniture - mostly IKEA - for a few weeks now.

However we've realized that most IKEA furniture pieces are not very well made.

We like most of the designs at IKEA - simple, clean and modern - however quality is the big issue.

We'd like our furniture to last for at least 3-5 years bare minimum, the longer the better really.

Do you have any recommendations for good quality, modern furniture at affordable prices? - i.e. about 1500+ for a sofa with chaise, about 300plus for coffee table etc.

Went to Furniture Mall sometime back and found most of the designs to be butt ugly, and prices are also quite hefty =(

Try the Star Furniture group which has a few brands under them, Zen Tradition, Mondi Lifestyle etc. So far the quality is fine and the customer service very good, no horror stories like those from many other furniture retailers. By the way, not all Ikea furniture is low quality. Sme of the more expensive range items are pretty solid.

Are you referring star furniture as Star Living?

I have been staying in my current place since 2003, our friends always comment that my place look like an Ikea showroom. Furniture that are not Ikea are coffee table, bed, WIW, kitchen cabinet and computer table; the rest of the house all full of Ikea stuffs. If you ask me do they last, yes they can last and have last for almost 9 years. The only piece of furniture that has problem is the TV console, it cannot take the weigh of a 32" LCD due to a design flaw; the designer should add extra leg(s) in the middle to hold the weigh so the board don't bend under some weight.
