Sorry guys been abit tardy in updating my reviews of the various IDs here..been away on annual leave holiday n all and of cuz busy w reno...will try to post an update later tonight, past midnight bah! Happy new year all!

Hi kindly pm me your id contact

If I not wrong i saw you saying you did a lot at a quotation of not more than 25k for your reno.

No doors no windows no floor......

Very cheap quote, go for it...... Any company can propose me a reno below 30k includes wiring and lighting point for my coming 3 room....I sure sign them.

My new house doing a revamp, vacant and neat unit.

My opinion, if you revamping your whole unit, 22-23 k seems impossible. By changing all grilles, doors and windows already will cost you 5-6 k. Not forgetting the hacking and the tiles work. Master room , toilet and especially kitchen itself will cost you around 5k already.

Although i still had not find a company for my upcoming reno, but I think your quote not many company can meet. My 2 Cents.

( I have no floors and no doors tts why the quotes are high)

Actually i honestly, genuinely like Allen from Thom Signature very much and i really want to award the sale to him. Not pushy. i don't feel pressure from him to give him an answer soon or right away or anything unlike other firms. One good thing about him, i told him we have a budget although we want to do so many things, he cut down the prices for me. I am in the line whereby i oversee reno for my clients doing commercial and I agar agar know the market rate. from what i see, he is cutting on his commission to give me the price which i am very grateful. Easy to talk to and gives constructive feedback about the feasibility of some things tt i want to do.

an example is the L shape cabinet. He pointed out something that NO ONE cautioned me about. The space in the L will be hard to reach and will be a waste of space; wasting my money to make and also will make the room very cramped. I never thought about it until he pointed it out. but seeing that i REALLY wanted it, he stared at it for about 10 mins before coming out with a solution and I loved that solution very much. ( im not going to share tt solution because I feel tt the solution belongs to him and his creativity). Dont get me wrong, Im not trying to promote Thom, im just very impressed by the way they have "brought up" their designers and project managers.

And I agree with you that they are understated. In fact, I feel that they dont do any marketing at all which may not help very much..but at least we know we are not paying to fund their marketing like the bigger names like weiken.com.

Since yesterday, while we are still in midst of deciding and the 3 has finally dropped down to 2. Its between Allen and another ID who has abit more experience in the design department.

Hi guys,

Just to share with you all and add in addition on the input of what was reviewed and shared by the many forumers here. During mid 2012 my hubby and I was sourcing for an ID firm as we are supposed to receive our keys to our new home in end 2012 or early 2013. I would like to share with all the people here on our roller coaster experience on finding a right ID. I describe it as a roller coaster as the experience was really a long tedious ride.

In this post,I will not discredit any individual or company as it will not do anyone good.

Firstly we listed out several ID from the forum and made calls/email to them. The experience initially was good as almost all ID was friendly, nice and patient. However, certain IDs that we met up with gave us the cold shoulder or gave me the feeling that they "did not want to attend" us treatment after they found out that our key collection was 6-9 months later.

As this was the first home that me and my hubby bought, we had totally no experience with any renovation or contracting work. Therefore we started out early in research for a reliable(and cheap) ID. I was turned down and even mocked by some with very sarcastic comment that we were to early to look for an ID. We had totally no idea on what was our budget as well as the design theme that we wanted for our home.

Several of them was reluctant to give their professional advice or even bothered to send us their quotation or share ideas with us. meet ups was usually very brief.

Through out the tedious and long journey of search, my hubby and I narrowed down our choices to 4 ID's , 2 and subsequently 1. One that we thought that was fair, reasonable and was able to satisfy the renovation needs of our new nest. One that we believe will work well in us in the coordination of the building of our home.

Everything was rosy initially before our deposit was placed, however it became a disastrous decision for the both of us and it was a beginning of our nightmare. Immediately after our deposit was placed, our conversation was no longer as before. I wanted the 3D drawing as per promised by him was not delivered on time, he told us that 1 week was all he need for the 3d drawing. However, after 3 weeks of waiting all we got was delays after delays. Response was all short and sweet. It was always " too early for drawings" "I am busy now" "my drafter is not in town" subsequently during the forth week, the 3D drawing was finally out, my husband and I have to make time and accommodate to the time of the ID as he kept lamenting that he was busy and unable to meet up with us. Finally, the appointment was fixed in his office and he was late for nearly an hour before he happily swing into office with a Bluetooth talking to his friend. He totally showed no recourse of being late.

We took it in our stride and finally went into discussion of the drawing. The drawing was totally crap and unacceptable. It was totally different from what we have discussed. We wanted amendments and was greeted by a very unfriendly and totally different Person that we placed our trust in. He told us that no amendments was needed and was fast in trying to shut us up with his quick witted response.

My husband and I was dumb folded, heavy hearted and sent back home with mixed emotions, as the deposit was placed, we proceeded on to accept his proposal. Finally the last-straw that made us bite the bullet and forfeit our deposit was the rude response we got from him when we wanted to meet him up and change certain dimension of the cabinet as well as the position of our bed, (due to consultation from Feng-shui master) he was totally rude and even told us that we were too troublesome and should just listen and trust his expert advice.

After we made our hard decision of forfeiting our deposit, we decided to look for the Id that was second on our list. We went ahead with trust and proceeded on to sign with the next ID. I have to credit her in doing a decent job in the building of our home. We ended up with Joy from Thom Signature and was pretty happy with her service quality as well as accommodating character. She was practical in the ideas as well as willing to accommodate to changes. (I have to admit that we were freckle minded as this was our first home).

Initially we did not proceed on with her was because we felt that a female Id might not be able to handle the contractors well as well as what was mentioned by other forumers, the lack of details in her port-folio. However after working with her, I have to give her the thumbs up. She was quick in response as well as responsible in her work.

I would like to share with all forumers that if you are looking for a id, do not go for a buaya salesmen and not go for the cheapest of the cheapest Id. My hubby and I are both glad that we forfeited our deposit as we are pretty sure that he would have screwed the job up.

Good luck in finding the right one for your home!

First thanks and Congrats on your new house. Secondly, nicely written, I personally feel this is so convincingly written to promote the mentioned ID & company or perhaps you yourself is Joy.

But never mind it is sharing. Unless you follow up with some of your reno photos. Just 2 posts it's a little suspicious but afterall, IF I mean IF, you are self promoter, you are one of the best than the others because you are very "creative in making such a nice and touching story "..... my 3 cents.

Firstly I would wish all of you a Happy new year and 马上发财 to everyone!

Thank you ahbengahseng for the congratulations of my new home. Like I mentioned, I am not here to discredit any individual as I find that working with a ID is a very individual experience. Everyone will have a different experience throughout the coordination work of the renovation with their ID. I find that Joy is a good ID that I had worked with and would definitely give credits to her for that.

The reason being that I am in this forum is also to look for another ID so as to have a discussion as well as compare quote once again for the renovation works of my mother-in-law's place. (I have contacted Joy once again for a quotation, but have decided to have another ID to compare quotation.) *side note, we are all worried of being over charged and over paying.

Did not realize my post will bring negative impact for Joy, (if Joy is in this forum and is reading, I'm very sorry!)

Meanwhile I will load a few pictures of my new nest, please do give your comments :)

I do heard some bad reviews on Thom Signature from my BTO group neighbours regarding to some workmanship issues. Previously i am also considering getting them to renovate my house but after hearing the comments, i have decided to give them a miss. I do not wish to elaborate further as choosing an ID is very individual, we sure heard some reviews here and there but at the end of the day, it is yourself to judge and whether you trust the ID or not. It is good to visit a few of their completed projects to get a feel of their workmanship before commit.

Initial attitude very good, as project kicks in day by day, u can start to see the difference.
