My First Renovation Experience

Recommended Posts

ptqbe, thanks. There is carpentry but minimal, only in living room and kitchen.

The renovation process was slow. We started hacking 12 November and handover was 17 January. I didn't do many things, there was much down time throughout the whole process, workers came in at noon rather than early in the morning.

Year end is especially bad time to do renovation. If I had a choice, I would avoid this period.

thanks for the heads up!

Thanks.

Thnx Elin 4 sharing the dogs' area....the bomb shelter flooring was hacked or over-layed? Hoping I could do the same when I get my house keys.

I think it was overlay. You have dogs too?

Hi elin1029,

Is that laminate you are using for your cabinets? can you share more info on the material?

Thank you!

It's laminate. Wanted to do spray painted cabinets but my contractor says it's harder to maintain.

I guess not many are willing to sacrifice a whole room of storage space for their pets. I wanted the dogs to have more space as they may be confined for long hours. The little one is blind and pees everywhere, it's bad for the laminate floor. The mongrel is one year old and can't be trusted around furniture yet. It makes the human feel good that they have more space, but actually they would just park themselves on one spot and lay there the whole day!

As for your cats, I don't think you're able to confine them using baby gate! I'm interested to see what design you come up with for the cats. Let me know! :)
