:wub:Scandinavian Modern Farmhouse Inspired

Hi Renotalk Folks & Friends, ;)

Firstly, many thanks to a lot of the Brothers & Sisters here for the Reno sharing and valuable tips/notes over the past 12 months.

I learnt that over the course of planning, it is rather difficult to keep to the budget as we built our dream house. My initial budget has increased almost twice! From wanting to keep it simple and save cost, we have decided to "invest" more for the long term and keep ourselves happier.

:sport-smiley-004: Preparatory stage (Mar - Aug):- :sport-smiley-018:

1) Decided on the overall theme

2) Decided on my essential renovation requirements (family lifestyle, basic fengshui, etc) + Optional requirements (more carpentry, etc)

3) Meet up with recommended ID/contractors to compare quotes and doing research on them.

4) Request to view the ongoing projects for the shortlisted ones to check on workmanship and quality.

5) Confirm actual site conditions(amount of natural light, wind conditions, ceiling beams, etc) and then reassess my design plans, subsequent material selection and colour theme.

6) Enjoying the Reno Journey :jammin:

:dancingqueen:

We hope the house will turn out spacious, well ventilated, hopefully lots of natural light and will be going for low furniture with a woody feel.

Leaning towards white / neutral base colours with a dash of blue / light pastel colours as accent colours and probably a subtle hint of polished industrial or Scandinavian elements.

My wife dislikes the overly raw/distressed /extreme look and mirrors. We like the house to be clutter free and will be counting on the bomb shelter for the additional customized racking storage since we are not doing much carpentry. :yamseng:

We will make space for green plants, 2 or 3 cats and some posters/painting on Animal Photography in the house.
Hopefully we can get the right furnishing to complement such a white based colour scheme.

Considerations for furnishings:-

1. Add texture
2. Clean lines
3. Light Colours
4. Low and not Bulky
5. Can complement surrounding or not make the space cluttered
6. Too much personality to resist
7. Valuable for Money :P

I like gold / bronze / copper. If i am a bachelor now, my Reno theme will be the complete opposite. Imagine Steampunk meets Pop Art meet Industrial. :notti:
As my wife cannot stand it, we decided Common Bathroom shall be under my charge while she gets to decorate the Master Bathroom. :bleah:
