Contractors doesn't mean they r not gd IDs. My contractor told me honestly tat he cannt draw 3D though he got cert in designs. Hence, he got someone to draft out my 3D using his ideas.

I think not every ID/contractor knows everything. I saw mine often discussed with tilers, the Aircon technician the best way to do the job. He does input ideas or solutions but I find the best person to advice is sometimes a very experienced worker who is doing the job. It's untrue to say that workers juz follow instructions blindly.

I met a few obstacles regarding my floor tiles levelling, right position to tile etc. The tilers actually shown me the best way n even propose alternatives when I disagree. We hv gd discussion with main contractor, Tilers n even Gain city technician!

I am kind of fussy but nice to workers so MAYB they willing to try fulfilling my expectations...

It's time for contributing back to this forum after taking from this forum. hehe <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

After searching up and down for renovation contractor (not ID). I finally landed with a good contractor, extremely satisfy with their workmanship. Though i will not give 10/10 but I will definitely give a 9.8 out of 10 for the quality, material and workmanship of my contractor.

You see, for people out there looking for renovation, I don't see much different getting an ID and and a good contractor. The key thing is a good contractor, and I think for a good one, it's not so many out there. I am lucky for my case as I engaged with a good contractor with very very reasonable price and quality of work... superb ! (in fact, without saying it's a contractor work, some of my friend is asking me which ID firm i am actually engaged with).

I shall be sharing some pictures of my renovation works later. thanks<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hi, I did similar things for ~11k ($7935 + $2760).

The reno works are done with Nam Hin Bee Kee Contractor (Alan Neo, 98568258), while the 2 6-ft sliding wardrobes are done with Siong Yee Renovation General Contractor (Mr Lau 90215165).

:yamseng: Hi folks,

I've done mine with Matrix Concept - Alvin Aw.

Honestly, at other posts of ID, I've testimonied Alvin as ID, but the truth is, I'm not sure how to classifiy him.

'cos the experience my hubby & I had with him was always like he will ask wat kind of theme we had in mind already - then he will briefly explain wat is expected of the theme we mentioned. Followed by focusing on concerns we have - more storage needed? Have pets? Have children? Want nice and yet pratical? etc...

So from the type of questions he asked, he will plan accordingly lor. He will then show his design and explain why he did that; but I can say most of the time, we love his design, so no "debates" there. :P

He also has his own carpentary team, hence, we feel secure and confident of the materials he provides.

Anyways, we have engaged him twice:

1st house - when we bought, it's already a move-in condition, so no major reno done. Alvin still willing to take up the small task of enhancing our house, mainly ideas came from us. 'cos to him, the house is already a move-in, we just have to tell him what other enhancements we need. Any features not appropriate, he will highlight to us.

2nd house (current) - we did a revamp. My testimonial of his works

:horse:

Overall, no harm getting quotes around for your own comparison... It's a house setting that everyday you lived in and which you should really be comfortable in. :D

~ Enjoy~ :yamseng:

Hi I am eagerly sourcing for contractor (on behalf) to do minor works on house (not my house though)

works include:

1) repainting

2) removing and installing of new kitchen dish rack/washer

3) hacking of floor for all 3 rooms and re laying.

4) construct and build a reasonably large display cabinet

5) construct TV console and panel

6) other misc....

Please PM me your recommended contractors, preferably those you have tried before.

I would appreciate if those IDs to not to PM me and recommend yourself.

(There are just too many RT members with only 1-2 posts and recommending this ID or this contractor but actually they are actually recommending themselves or their firms.)

I prefer forum members that have tried the contractor/ID and then recommend them to me. That will be more realistic and beneficial.
