Hello, Anyone tried installing solar panels for your landed house? Heard that there are some solar panels that you can install and it feeds electricity back into the power grid. SP Services will then give you a rebate off your bill. Anyone has tried this? How is it working for you?

Hi everyone, im in love with the vinyl woody texture and the rubbery feel when i step on it, but however after reading a lot of info here shared by fellow renotalk members, i feel there is a need to look more into which brand is good. I asked evorich during the recent expo and they quoted me $6.20 which is still quite ex to me.Supreme the cheapest $5.50 but not much choice i visited inovar as well and they quoted me $7plus if im not mistaken. However theirs is not the click and lock system, which they claim to be not good cos can c gaps. May i know how true is this, anybody used Evorich or Innovar Vinyl care to share? CLick and lock or the normal ones better. Also i asked my contractor and he said he using ACE for my vinyl floor from US and says that its much cheaper. Anybody had used this brand before. I cant find much about this brand for the reviews. THank you in advance!

Hi all, I have a burning question, do you need to re-do the whole common toilet floor and wall tiles, waterproofing etc when changing the toilet entrance? I had enquired to seal up the existing entrance and hack open a new entrance and was told by a certain ID that I need to re-do my entire common toilet floor and wall tiles and toilet reno. My toilet is still very new as its hardly used so I am very surprised this was suggested by the ID. He said this is to prevent a leaking possibility in the future. I am in need of advice if this is required or am I being chopped as all I want to do is have a new entrance for the door, an opening above the door for ventilation and have a mortar base at the new entrance. He is currently quoting me $8,800 to hack, supply wall/floor tiles, haulage of debris, protection sheet, waterproofing, new door, new stainless steel pipes, build hollow wall to seal current entrance. Price doesn't include the mortar base, boxing up of pipes and include an opening above door for ventilation which I think he forgot to add in. Help please, thanks! Cheers

Hi Can anyone advise roughly what is the cost of plastering the living room of an old 3 room flat? Also, any tips on painting over dark pink, dark green and bright yellow walls? Does primer work better than painting a few layers? Am still considering if i should do DIY painting or to engage painter, coz the current dark colour might be a challenge to paint. Thanks!

Kitchen installation photos - continued: ikea kitchen (day 3) 5 by Harriette_Tan, on FlickrCover panel Being a 1st time ikea kitchen buyer, we have not heard of a "cover panel". When you buy an ikea kitchen, the ikea staff will advise you to buy cover panel to cover the exposed sides of your cabinets. You can choose a cover panel that is the same laminate as your chosen doors. It is purely for aesthetics. The cover panel is about 1cm thick. I also choose to use the cover panel to box up the gap between the cabinets and the ceiling. My chosen cover panel are glossy white, which is the chosen colour of my ikea kitchen cabinet doors. ikea cover panel by Harriette_Tan, on FlickrCustomised shelves Due to a ceiling beam, there is a 7-inch gap between the kitchen cabinets and the wall. ikea kitchen (day 3) 6 by Harriette_Tan, on FlickrThe ikea contractor suggested that the gaps be sealed up. However, I find that this is a waste of space. ikea contractor's suggestion by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr So I requested for customised open shelves for the gap. These shelves will be built using the ikea cover panels, so that they share the consistent look with the rest of the kitchen. This is the drawing done by the ikea contractor. He sent it to me via whatsapp.open shelves by Harriette_Tan, on Flickr The customised shelves will cost me $200+ though, just for workmanship. This is almost the cost of one ikea cabinet frame. sidetrack - I'm actually very glad that smartphones and whatsapp exist. Alot of communication were done this way. I'm also impressed that the ikea contractors (who are not young) can whatsapp.
