I've found this company in renotalk forum and decided to give it a try. At 1st I'm only thinking of let them do my carpentry work. I speak to Jonathon which is a young manager and realise that they can get my floor and toilet done up as well. Quote compare to ID firm is cheaper . Will update my house photo soon.

Congrats on finding the dining table for your new home! I am intrigued by the stone top. The sofa and chair look good too!

We're a bit 'lucky' in Singapore(1 deg N) so the sun moves 'up & down' - view from earth - meaning sun rises from east, goes to our top, then sets in the west, however, with only 48 deg variation. So we can choose a 'fixed' residential with door/windows directions to avoid/welcome rising and setting sunlight. Unlike Beijing (46 degN) and Sydney (46 deg S) the sun movement is not so much 'up & down' but 'left & right' - slowly download the articles, read and digest. Personally, I prefer to have morning sunlight to go into my house and do not mind 'a little bit' of evening sunlight to go through windows or main door. This determines HOW I choose the FACING of DOOR and WINDOWS. Ones has to understand various directions of 'wind blow' throughout the year in where he stays so he choose the FACING of DOOR and WINDOWS to enjoy the natural wind. Of course, these days he can enjoy FORCED air by electric fan and aircon by hack caring the directions of door and windows. Personally,I prefer to have morning sunlight through windows, to have N-S windows facing. No direct evening sun through windows. I have enough encounters with flooding, I avoid flooding-prone areas. Of course, I like 'good view', i like 'good neighbour'( Can I choose??), i like 'convenient' place..... All these are my 'parameters' of the equation of choosing a good house, what about yours? 1+2+3+....=8888 or what NESW ?

Always study the quotations provided by the ID or any contractors carefully. Do not be misguided with just the package prices. Most importantly, always ask when in doubt and never commit unless you are fully satisfied.

tired from all the sourcing of quotations. finally shortlisted 3. I think i've approached more than 10 companies so far & 10 quotes were received. This is the latest summary of the quotes I've gotten - and yes, this will be the final list. no more looking around. it's really tiring! 1) U Home (Pen - ID) - met up 2 mths ago but no quote yet. think they aren't keen in doing business 2) Design Ministry (ID - recommended by colleague) - quote submitted. way exceeded budget by at least $10k. 3) Prozfile (Alvin - ID) - saw their booth at a recent exhibition at expo. love their designs. quote was ok (mid range) 4) Vace (Vincent - Contractor) - recommended by colleague. suprisingly expensive, despite being a contractor. 5) Renozone (Colin - ID) - recommended by friend. very prompt & sincere. quote among the top 3 most competitive. 6) AMDA Interior (Ambrose) - recommended by friend. quote among the top 3 most competitive. 7) Mr K - contractor - recommended by Renotalk members. very expensive. 8) Ming Hui - ID - recommended by agent. ex as well. 9) Jiawei - recommended by renotalk member. quote was rather ex. 10) Aian (Alan - contractor) - recommended by renotalk members. quote among the top 3 most competitive. So, I've shortlisted the following: 1) Renozone (Colin - ID) - recommended by friend. Colin is the boss. Very busy man but never fails to return my calls when I have questions about the quote - met up with him once & he showed me a unit which he renovated a year ago - very good after sales service (from what I have observed when the flat owner allowed him to bring customers to view the unit) & honest as well 2) AMDA Interior (Ambrose - ID) - recommended by friend - new company but Ambrose is not new to the industry. - the main con is that his company is not a HDB registered reno co 3) Aian (Alan - contractor) - recommended by renotalk members - provided the lowest quote - have heard & read a mix of reviews about him
