  1. oh mine... really that cheap???!!! if only i know about it 2 months ago.
  2. my blum is charged by per drawer. Ranges from 60-80 depending on size. I have some big drawers for pots n pans. negotiated and contractor absorbed cost for 9 drawers.
  3. our stand: as long as kids are independent and don ask you for handout when you are old, that is already a blessing. agree with zirhk. it is our mindset that needs to change. my parents are the typical chinese. so basically my siblings n I are expected to take care of their medical, give them allowance... etc. I don think we can expect the same from the next generation. Times have changed.
  4. my washer died on me last week. got the service man to come in. servicing really ex (mine is out of warranty already). Just for them to come n take a look is $62. Then change the parts $180. Total: $242.... think water got in during the shifting and it short circuit.
  5. hwinho: we have the same toilet setup / layout. from toilet bowl, mirror, vanity top, shower screen... one of my neighbour who is also using CD also have the same layout. really feels like factory production.
  6. hwinho: maybe you can share more info. as in who installed the heater? did you managed to get the installer to check? what causes the fused.. etc. unless wiring not done correctly leading to the fuse, then i would say get CD to rectify.
  7. ehh steve, rectification work not assured by me lah. lol. But KK, am sure CD will do the rectification work for you and not disappear. Maine07: not sure if we are talking about the same CD. From what i know, CD only have 1 shop.
  8. congrats KK. Good luck for your reno. One thing for sure, rectification will all be done.
  9. INT: was telling gina we saw you at tanglin halt sheng siong last week and she told us you just got married. we gave u an unofficial nick 'M1' cos of your orange theme. don mean to be a stalker. Honestly with no offence to anyone, if my friend asked if I will recommend my contractor, I will give them my breakdown view on it. ie, CD's great attitude and how I grade their sub con's work.
  10. intriquer: one thing that i really agree with u on is their attitude. I done my final payment when they came over last weekend. After that, they still send ah hai up to fix the slow closing on my shoe rack n vanity (these are not in the quotation and they did it FOC). I only ask to buy the 'gun' from them. This gesture is really greatly appreciated. we were very upset initially when the reno was not up to our expectation but their attitude won me over. they never complain about the long list of recitification work required. BTW, congrats. heard u just got married.
  11. kk: maybe you want to elaborate on why you feel the lamination work is terrible? is it chipped off or there is the joining lines. If you are referring to the joining lines, then i think it is normal. All laminate will have joining lines unless you are using the 'wrapped' type. That type is more pricy and the type of laminate used is different. condition of my solid top? umm... what do you mean by condition? sorry, don really understand. Maintenance wise, we felt is the same for all solid top, if there is any spills, have to wipe it up quickly.
  12. kk: sorry for not replying your PM. but think your mailbox is full, i cant send anything to you. happy: yes, we did open concept kitchen. used white solid top cos most of our furniture are dark wood colour. need to balance off a bit. if not, whole hse will be very 'dark'.
  13. Taken from the kithen kk, your mailbox is full, so i cant reply your pm. initially wanted to buy the soft closing from Gina for my shoe rack n vanity shelf but she gave it to me FOC. Even got ah hai to come fix it for me. Good service.
  14. kksg, my laminate for tv console and kitchen is ok. I chose from the box of laminate samples. I was complaining about the scratches at the edge of my tv console. But ah hai has replaced it for me. now it looks ok.
  15. what we did was to call them and get a queue # to reserve the set when it comes in. We received an sms when the stock was in and went down to collect. The wait at the queue is about 20 min or so. Collected our item 2 weeks ago.
  16. kk: Are you looking at the wardrode or cabinets. They are using different type of laminate for both item.
  17. Happy: We can do this but we need to think of a fair way to do this. We need to take into account the sub cons assigned to do our unit. Understand they have more than 1 group of sub cons for each category.
  18. Havent had time to post my post reno comments since I moved in. been busy with cleaning and unpacking. Now that all the work are done, guess it is a good time to give our feedback on the reno and our experience with CD. We wanted to give a fair comments and felt the way to do it would be to separate our feedback for CD and their sub cons. All feedback below are based solely on our experiences which may differ from customers to customers depending on who the sub cons are. CD For those who read the prevous thread would know we were very unhappy with some of the work done at our place. We brought this up to CD and as of last week, recitification work has been completed. We are happy with the recification work done and have to comment that CD's attitude during this period had been very good. We were not shown 'black or unhappy faces' during this period. Despite our frustrations, angers and complains, CD maintains a very professional attitude. They try their best to get the issues rectified. Honestly, we can feel their sincerity in trying to get things sorted out for us and we are thankful for it. Tony also let us chose the design for the replacement doors. In term of service and good attitude, we would give them 4/5. In term of pricing, they were somewhere in the middle based on the quotations we have received. In term of design, can't comments as we came up with most of the design. Sub Cons Tiling: Ah yen did our tilings. Honest guy with good attitude. 1 incident to share, we did a rock feature wall and when he first started work on it, there were many small gaps in between the joining tiles. Hubby spoke with him and asked if he is able to minimise the gaps. He said can try and immediately redo those parts with gaps and managed to minimise all the gaps. He even managed to patch the rocks around our power socket. I will try to take a pic of this cos I think it takes skills and experience to be able to do this. Wiring: Don did our wiring. Will not recommend him. He takes on more projects than he can handle and work is slip short. Carpentry: Ah Hai did the carpentry work. we have this love hate thing with ah hai. In general, he produces decent work, not those bo-bo type who gets the measurement wrong. But one thing irkes us to this day is his magic marker. touching up a bit with the marker is fine but when you see so much touch up with the marker, it just drives us nuts. One thing we hope he had done for us during the reno was to pellet wrap the laminated wood pcs during the transportation to our place. This prob would have have minimise some scratches and rounded edges incurred during transportation and in turn less marker touch up. We seen a few carpenter using pellet wraps on corners of wood work during the transportation to site to prevent / minimise damages. Plumber: we didnt get his name. a young chap. not very impressed by him. He is quite clumsy Painter: neat and fast workers but somehow, the walls gets stained easily and when i try to wipe it with a damp cloth, the colour comes off.... is this normal? I know some of you are asking for photos. give me a bit more time. i cannot remember which box my camera cable is in....
  19. i didnt get their fridge but have been using their WM for the past 3year +. Love it. If i need to replace my WM, will get another F&P.
  20. Finally able to get online. Just shifted to my new place yday. still doing unpacking. kksg: yes. i have some issues with some of CD's work as you could see from the thread that was removed (not sure what happened to the thread). As of today, almost all the rectification work has been done. only left with one minor one. have to say they have been very responsible and follow up with all the rectification work. design wise, i cant really comment much as we knew what we wanted and did most of the design ourselves. hubby drew out the kitchen layout, cabinets, tv console, wiw and passed the design to Gina together with measurement. will post pics when we are more settled. too tired from packing n cleaning.
  21. my understanding is: the second inspection is to check that the house is in the same condition as at the time when you decide to purchase it. Unless the seller took out or change any fixtures, then you can 'complain'. If you want to bargain, do it before you sign the OTP. if not, it is taken that you are buying it at the 'existing condition'.
  22. Tiger: this is for 40"???!!! if it is, the price is really good.
  23. Really??? haiz. i was told that inverter savings will only kick in if I use at least 2 units for more than 8 hrs at one time. If not, there will be minimum savings.
