1st July got the GST thingy again right? U combine with ur sis's share... save a bit more n its there soon!

LOL!! Actually the truth is... i 'convince' my hubby not to get the crystal lights. Cos i didnt wanted to clean those lights even thou i like them! So now... i can only drool. Drool at familyof4's place.. now drool at yours. One thing abt the s/s backing, will need a little technique in cleaning to ensure no watermarks. They gave me the 3M s/s polishing agent, but i read somewhere its not advisable to use on hob backing. So i would go for a smaller piece for ease of cleaning, thou a long stretch of it will make the whole kitchen look really fabulous. Its ur choice gal! I'll PM u on my curtains experience ok?

if just up/down... i think there r cheaper alternatives like those pulley systems? No point buying this one cos the selling point is the push out feature.... Then again, dun push out into the sun, unless ur service balcony gets sufficient sunlight? Gonna TOP soon!!

keep bugging her with phonecalls! Sometimes ah... these officers really switch on the holiday mood all the time. i waiting for ur reno part 2 also wait until hair white liao.

Agree. Most may be just old age death that happens in the house. And even those who pass away in hospitals, family members believe that they will 'come back' to visit. So its really hard to be certain on these things. My mum (super FS die heart fan) tells me that even new houses will have these things becos of the long vacant period after completion.. lack of Yang qi. Most imptly... the house must give us the 'right' feeling the moment we stepped in.

wahhh!! tt's scary leh. Imagine if u had an appt with Citygas on the same day, then u'll be mistaking this dubious person for the right man! Gd that u warn everyone abt this...
-
Eh.. i dun really like the floral laminates but my hubby loves it! I prefer the solid cores!! Sometimes i think i'm like the pants-wearing in our rship Ah Soon threw in FOC soft closing for all my door and drawers, not the blum ones thou. Since its FOC... i dun bother much as long as it works. I took Celtic white for my solid surface top too! If no budget for glass backsplash, can get him to FOC u the s/s backing? I think its looks quite chio for a pure white kitchen, n definitely easier maintenance that dark glass backing. anyway.. i dun like u!!! u bought the same dining light as familyof4 and i was drooling for wat i was missing lor!

Ah Soon

Licensed or not, at the end of the day... the whole idea is to find a comfortable person to work with and a reasonably quoted budget. I guess all the clients here have mentioned enough abt the gd and bad abt engaging Ah Soon for the reno. Those who trust him will go along.. at their own risk. Those who are more cautious abt their reno or have no time to manage, will choose some other contractors/IDs. At the end of the day, what's impt is the track record and the deliverable results. Everyone has their own way of doing their biz. My 2cents worth. -
xherion: thks xherion! that's one of my wedding photos.. like this series more than my white gown ones! The laundry system ah.. so far so gd. when there's clothes on it, the whole system is easier to push, not as heavy. As for the corrosion part, the guy who sold us was very frank with us that it is powder coated iron, so as long as we dun scratch it, it should not rust. As for weight wise, i tried overloading the system b4, with a lot of hanger-hang clothes... still working fine thou i cant lift it up to its original position, too heavy. If i were to summaries: Pros: 1) no need to hang bamboos! Safety also lah. 2) Siam rain very fast, just pull the whole unit in. I see opp neighbours rushing to keep bamboo i'll feel lucky to have bought this! After rain stops just push out the whole unit again. Cons: 1) Expensive as compared to bamboos 2) There's 2 dead space, inner half of the 1st and last bamboo cannot be used until the whole unit is pushed out. That's where the rollers will roll pass, so clothes cannot be hang there. I usually use them to hang hubby's shirts when i've already hang it on hangers. 3) Was 1 pc also gotta pull down whole unit. For this, i bought another separate alum bamboo just purely for times when i need to hang 1 shirt. 4) limited length, its only 6ft long... 6x6bamboos... so i cannot really hang a lot of laundry. would be gd for those that washes clothes everyday or working couples like us with not much laundry. Not really suitable for big families who washes only once a wk.

very nice wall u have along the stairs! for a moment... i tot it was after-reno pics. The house seems to be in a very gd condition, can shift in any moment! N I think u have the same layout as familyof4!

i think uncle works base on trust ba? I rembr someone saying that he started the biz with the intention of helping as many customers as possible in saving reno cost, that's why he charges to cheaply and yet so sui bian with payment. i still rembr the day he came over ask ask... "ok or not.. u all really ok to pay me the last payment? if cannot u can pay me another time leh." But indeed, i think he needs a financial PA.

xvirusga76: We picked the exact laminates for the kitchen cabinets, while i took the beige floral laminate for my TV console in MBR! My carpenter was ah liew as well, he's quite a nice chap but some of his workers may be a little slow in reacting. And some mis-drilled holes here n there, so do watch out for those ok? He was scolded very badly by uncle for my carpentry, but on the overall, the workmanship is still pretty gd.

time to get the helper in! Will wait here for ur shift in pics!

wow! ur bday on national day?! Like that must double up on the price tag of the pressie he gives! Dun lugi ah! I'm having a luncheon, so no fireworks for me. Yours is near the fireworks, will u be affected by the road blocks? i wanted to hold at the flyers, but confirm tio road block and it will quite a distance to walk in from the nearest drop off point.. so we had to forgo the idea. Its surely stressful to watch after reno and having the wedding preps going on at the same time!
-
hahah! u know my venue and timing leh. u think can see fireworks? Actually my auntie was asking me why so dumb dumb...but i say no such thing as 1 pressie, even if its 1 pressie, it must be a combine value!

mitlancer: ur "before" kitchen looks very condo-alike, ur "after" kitchen is showroom-alike!! Very nice change! The house was already very nice to begin with, and after-reno it feels like condo. Ivy, i got a tower fan for my living room, not strong enough leh. Its only gd for short distance.
-
really? We picked the date cos its just next to my bday and easier for gongkia to rembr. In the end we realised that its 'guan yin dan'...
-
:jawdrop: My wedding's on national day too!! Everyone's giving me the weird look when i tell them its on national day.
-
ur house is sooo nice! Esp the bedroom setting, very warm n cosy. Gd taste!

it's surely a relieve that Alan does ur house swee swee for u! The rest of the works are pretty fast going. Doors n shower screens can be up within the same day! Wedding in aug?
-
Hahaha! it happens to me when i saw pple popping at my door during reno. We chatted until the electrician Ah Tan tot they were my frens! We are all too excited abt ur pretty house mah.
-
ya ya!! weird right? U just reminded me on that.. i don't check my ccard any fee waiver! Isn't it just headache having so much bills to check?

for the dish rack, i'll pick option 2. Bed wise depends very much on the person who's sleeping right beside the powerpoints. I wanted to park my bed to the wall too, but in the end left a gap becos i dun wanna crawl over just to get out of bed. And i'm kinda against sleeping closely beside powerpoints, since current creates magnetic field and i'm not sure how it will affect. Just a little kiasi part.

Sorry to hear the problems with the final stage. I understand how u would have felt for all the delays... mine was pushed back from 3wks.. till countless times.. and finally handed over in 6wks. The only difference, i was not in a rush. Thankfully you finally managed to shift in. Hope the final settlement will be smooth for u. N dun be too bothered by those anonymous msges. We are all here to learn from each other in reno!
