Agreed with Ivy. I've been to three open houses as well. The willingness of others to allow us to view their house also reflect their confidence in Ah Soon. To me, what is important in a contractor is reliable, good workmanship and negotiable... We have also read about many other forumers negative feedback from IDs. The price difference between Ah Soon and ID is also quite substantial, imagine the few IDs initial quotation to me are all above 50k and Ah Soon quote is below 40k with more stuff. To correct myself, Ah Soon does give 3D "hand drawn" drawing.... See sample.

Wow.. we like your sofa and round coffee table (hard to find).......... just want to know how much the sofa and coffee table. Also your oven looks good. how much? where did you get it. I like the pieces you picked.... overall match very nicely... the look is nice nice!

Actually, it depends whether there is significant work needs to be done. If the scope is small, the risk is small, then probably 3D is no necessary. Although market rate is $150, any contractor will mark up. Heard other ID marked up to $500 in other topics in this forum. In my opinion, typical HDB flat reno will not need ID or 3D drawing.

Mrs P, can I ask if your kitchen without handles........ is it difficult to pull out......... we are considering to have handles or not? Cos my wifey wants those pull out drawers (aka blum but I tell her we can only afford Ikea).......... and put in huge pots and pans.......... stacks of plates and bowls....... will it be too heavy to pull out, without the handles.

Today MC so went to 'look-see-look-see' again with wifey.......... We bought drinks up for the tiles 'master' and his disciples. He is quite a nice guy......... and since my wifey speaks Cantonese.......... this guy can communicates with her............ they friend friend already........... somemore, we change our mind about the tiles......... ie... we dont want to mix 2 tiles in 1 wall of the toilet........... thank God we went in time and tell him............ his guys about to tile already........ "Phew"....... I must say work is really fast......... they cement and tiling toilets already. That tile 'master' walk thru the kitchen measurements with my wifey........... cos he is building the base.......... thank God wifey memorize her dream kitchen at the back of her hand.......... straight away can iron out some rough corner and how to hide pipes and work around it.......... Ah soon also very hands on....... he came when we left.......... saw him scolding people into his handphone......... quite a funny sight cos he is talking to the grass patch on his handphone.......... like those 'guru' preaching away.

Casement Or Sliding Windows?
Smallboy replied to rendell's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
I've tried both castment and sliding. For cleaning, both are ok since I only clean once a year during CNY. Sliding window has fewer bars so I do prefer the "OPEN" feeling of a sliding window. -
Agreed. I think that if you don't bargain too hard, then you have better chances for freebies later.

I bought this hobz, hood, sink and tap package. I check with other shops and confirm that this is cheapest. I heard that the owner will increase the price to 799 but I think it is still good price. PM me for contact.

BTW, remember the wood-look-alike tiles which I said I will be using. We have decided against it after putting the tiles under stress test and found that the tile will look dull and dirty after sometime (even after washing), and it is prone to scratches and stains. You might want to reconsider using it.....

Old Flat Came With Old Tv Antenna Cable, Why Cannot Remove
Smallboy replied to jpcc's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Got photo? -
Oh... ..... Fannie, I welcome you to clementi everytime you come and visit your in-law. Ivy, did you notice a antenna pipe that runs in the middle of the living room. I'm having problem as the pipe is not the place that I want my feature wall to be at. Will post picture tonight. Any ideas how to hide the pipe?

Old Flat Came With Old Tv Antenna Cable, Why Cannot Remove
Smallboy replied to jpcc's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
I have the same problem. Any innovative way to conceal the cable? -
Ya ya, you probably can use bino to look at the progress of my place. DAY 1 - Hacked off all kitchen cabinet and floor tiles. - Hacked off all Living and Dinning Room tiles. - Hacked one common toilet. We are very impressed with the speed..... Hi Fannie, welcome to the clementi families.

Yea!!! Finally. Did a walkthrough with Ah Soon yesterday. He recommend that we change the sewage pipe to PBC type. Other IDs have told me that this is HDB area that contractor cannot touch. I doubt it is true because there are others who have approached me about changing pipe before. Any experience? I would love to post picture, but the temporary server is quite slow. May take a while! Praying hard that things will turn out fine.

Finally, the renotalk is back up.... just in time for the start of my reno starting on the 31 Mar. Praying hard that it will be all smooth....
