There is already a solid wall that cannot be knock down. Our alternative plan is to place the shoe rack behind the door subjected to the space available.

ilmare612 thanks for your sharing your thoughts. I do have a build-in wardrobe in my current house but we won't very happy with it. The problem is that the wardrobe is not customisable and we are "fixed" with the layout after installation. The white board also turns yellow after sometime. (Of course this could be the result of poor workmanship) Wherelse, the Ikea wardrobe technically allows us to change the configuration. This is important bec my daughter is 8 and 2 yrs old now, and what she needs now will not be what she needs in the future. I understand that some Ikea items are not hardy but I thought if they give warranty then they must be confident in their quality.

We are planning to purchase Ikea Pax and Komplement wardrobe for our bedrooms and MBR. Considering Ikea bec a. We would like to customise our wardrobe..... b. We like the interior to be wood colour instead of white. Was told by ID that this will cost me more if custom make..... c. The Komplement roller track is quite smooth and accessories is quite comprehensive..... d. There is 10 years warranty.... I would like to request for feedback on the wardrobe from those who have bought it. Thanks!!!

I see the lights.... I went with my family to shop for lights at Blastier over the weekend. Our aim is to check out two highly recommended shops Lighting Arcade and Chan Huat. (Can't shop much with a 8 and 2 yrs old kids around) Both shops met our expectation of good customer service and reasonable pricing. We found a few lights for the balcony, bedrooms and kitchen.... can't decide on the dinning table lights though. After a while, our eyes went blur after looking at all the lights, crystals and shades. I estimated that lighting will cost us about $1000 to $1500. Hope we still have spare change to buy some decorative lighting and fans. We didn't buy but will likely to go back to the two shops to seal the deal in Mar.

My first major spending... Last weekend, I bought my first big ticket item for the house - a 40" Samsung Series 5 LCD TV. I saw it at Harvey Norman sales, anybody else went? UP 2599 and selling for 1799. What's more it comes with a free 26" Samsung LCD TV. I went reccee at Best Denki to confirm the price and they are selling it at $2599. Wow.... we can't resist the temptation and rush over to HN to buy it .... hope it was a good buy and I hope I won't see a better deal at the coming ITShow. Finally, after much time spent with different ID and contractors, we have found the winner...... The winner is........ AH SOON..... We have decided for a few reasons.... a. His workmanship is good. There are feedback from other threads that the WIW next to toilet will cause your clothes to feel damped unless you put in sufficient ventilation to extract the moisture from the toilet.... For me, I've reconsidered and decided to shift the toilet door.

I also have a not so pleasant encounter with Ah Keong..... Met him for quotation and he said will come back in 1-2 weeks times. After that, I've been trying to contact him through sms and call but no reply. So I concluded that he do not want my business.

My Ikea sofa cover is at a sorry state but the rest of the sofa is still functional. Think it is a waste to throw it away. Anyone know where to uphoslter the sofa cover.... Checked with Ikea and apparently they don't do it.

Hi, I'm planning for my reno and my dear wife is insisting on having white kitchen cabinet. I think otherwise because I thought white will be easily dirty and guess who will be doing all the cleaning and complaining later . I'm also concern whether the white will eventually turn yellowish. Can I check whether my concerns are valid and what is the best colour for kitchen for easy maintenance. Thanks!
