  1. The fine ants are termites, it's a good thing you threw the chest of drawers in time. Otherwise, they may infest all your wooden furniture and then you will have to replace everything.
  2. It would be cheaper to get a new sofa.
  3. Sometimes you have missing parts. I really don't think it is worthwhile for an individual to go China and buy one set of furniture. Just too much hassle. I am in the trade and I wouldn't do it.
  4. Your can call Mattress International at 6844 7555. They are the company that owns the brand Maxcoil.
  5. You are absolutely right. Softer mattresses act like a winter coat. So if you are not planning to sleep with your air-con on, get something firmer so that you are not stuck inside your mattress.
  6. Ligne Roset at Odeon tower sell real French furniture.
  7. The world rankings are as follows: Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Tempur. It really depends how much money you have for your mattress. If you have less than 1.5K, buy a Four Star, cheap and good. If you have more than 1.5K, choose something from the top brands. If you sleep on your back, get something firm, if you sleep on your side you will need something plusher. Best bet is to take your time to try. If I were you I would spend my money on the established brands. The established brands are as follow: Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Slumberland, KingKoil, Four Star, Dunlopillo. I am sure you will find what you like from these brands. Good Luck.
  8. Genuine Leather is not water proof, the PVC stuff is.
  9. 2.8m L-Shape Sofas typically com in full leather. Actually there's not many places one can go for an honest deal. I recommend Lorenzo, Cellini and May OM. But be prepared to spend about 3K. With a budget of 1.5K. I would buy a full leather 3 seater at about 2.1m long. Otherwise, I can easily get a 2.8m L-Shape fabric sofa.
  10. I wouldn't worry about Defu, KingKoil mattress are made by Matsu****a Greatwall who will deliver the mattress to you.
  11. Let me give everyone a piece of advise. Almost all the companies that advertise on WB on Friday evenings use a bait and switch strategy. They are advertise really cheap products and then try to convert you to a more expensive product that is not much better. Protect yourselves but looking at which companies are advertising on WB and avoid those store and you will be quite safe. Read thru' this forum and you can also see that many stores have warnings attached to them.
  12. If you have more than 1K by all mean lot for a leather set. Leather will last longer than PU or PVC. Mold happens when you living room is very humid, make sure your living room is well ventilated and not wet and you should be fine. I suggest you go to the following shops to get good value for money. Lorenzo, Cellini, Star Not a big fan of Casa Italy but you can go have a look
  13. If you are looking for a pocket spring mattress then be prepared to spent at least 1K on the mattress alone. There are many mattress companies that will cover their bonnell coils with a fabric and claim that it is a pocket coil. This is technically not lying. If you have a very limited budget buy a fourstar, made in Singapore not Vietnam.
  14. What does it say on your order? There is no such thing as ultra violet leather. So creams claim to protect against fading, that's it. It is quite easy to tell if it is not real leather.
  15. It depends on how tight your budget is. If you only have $400 for a sofa set then buy a fabric or PVC set. If you have more than 1K, you can invest in a Half Leather set. A leather set will last longer than a PVC set because PVC sofas will tear in about 16 months.
  16. Typically Lorenzo and Cellini will use "Corrected Grain Cow-Hide" which is effectively a form of Pigmented leather. But I have a lot of respect for these 2 companies and I think they will give you leather of a reasonable quality. I have alway felt that Furniture Club overcharges customers and if you like what you see then by all means buy what you like.
  17. Leather Comes in many forms below are the 4 general classes. Natural Bovine Leather Reconstituted Leather aka Reborn Leather PVC Synthetic Leather PU (Polyurethane) Synthetic Leather Other than natural leather the rest effectively have a plastic surface and not very breathable so will be quite warm. Leather leather comes in many grades but can be divided into 2 general classes: Aniline Leather Pigmented Leather Aniline leather are very lightly treated and coloured using natural stains and dyes they feel very soft and are very breathable. Aniline leather sofas are very expensive and very hard to maintain. You cannot buy an Aniline leather sofa for less than $5000. Pigmented Leather is leather that have a coat of pigment applied to the surface and is more durable that Aniline leather, this leather varies a lot in terms of quality. Price ranges for such sofas are very great. Any leather sofa below $2500 is considered low-end. If you want a comfortable leather sofa be prepared to spend upwards of $3000, otherwise you are almost alway better off getting a fabric sofa. Hope this helps.
  18. Hi Jason, I wouldn't worry about it, just negotiate. Morris lifestyle gets their products from wholesalers, if they don't give you discount, I am sure you can find the products somewhere else.
  19. OM is not part of Star. OM belongs to Nobel Design Ltd.
  20. Don't always check that but the law implies a 1 year warranty on most products under contract law. It is called merchantability, you may want to check with a lawyer. Also, the time limit for small claims tribunal is also one year. So if you have a problem with your product within one year of purchase you can still go to small claims tribunal to seek redress. Most reputable furniture companies will service your product within one year of delivery.
  21. Other brands you may want to look at are: Star Furniture Group, includes Star, Mondi, Lucano and Zen Tradition. OM, showrooms at Liang Court, IMM and Joo Seng Road.
  22. My only suggestion when buying display sets is to make them deliver immediately. Don't buy it and let it sit in the showroom or warehouse because it may get damaged.
  23. I don't mean to be rude but when you buy really low-end furniture quality and service will have to be compromised.
  24. You may want to try Lumiere at Balestier road and also the lighting shops at Park Mall, you have very expensive taste.
  25. Sal Sal has a factory in Johore, 2 weeks is enough although 3 week is better.
