  1. wow, bought at value and at such a good location. Really a good buy. Mine also 20 yr old flat and paid 17k cov. lifts not confirmed so urs a floor down from 5th floor (lift)? At least the polling completed and awaiting. Our area no news yet. Praying hard that they would give us lift upgrading soon. a serving counter would be nice and glass door would definitely make yr house look trendy. hmmm...what's your budget like? reno for 2 toilets would cost about 6k, re-wiring for 5 room would be close to 2k and its advisable since u're the 2nd owner and the unit already 20yrs old. The rockstone wall would need to be strapped off and plastered so that would be another 3k estimated. What's the condition of the kitchen cabinets? for wardrobes, we forgo carpentry as its way too costly and we bought from hdb furniture shop. U can visit my t-blog. I also didnt overhaul my place.
  2. congrats on your new place. The floor tiles looks like mine and the pattern of laying also sama sama. From the pics, think urs in better condition than mine. Mine got hairline cracks and chips here and there
  3. no la not screwed up...means hdb very efficient so u got the sms alert before the letter. anyway, luckily i still have this inside my photobucket. U can create an account and start storing your photos there. So far, i think photobucket easy to use. By the way, no need to delete the IMG, just copy the entire link fromthe IMG Code and paste onto your reply then it'll show up
  4. This unit already 20years and the ceramic tiles were done by the 1st owners. We wanted a unit with either marble or granite flooring but no luck. We retained the flooring even though there were a few hairline cracks in 2 bedrooms and chips here and there around the house. We would definitely not hack and replace the ceramic tiles with homo tiles as I simply had enough of homo tiles. Never again would I do homo tiles for living/dining n bedrooms. Anyway, luckily we had no budget to re-do the flooring and I'm so happy to see the shine reflected from the ceramic tiles when the lights comes in. we practically clean up the 20 yr old dirty grout and make it white again. Hard work though
  5. We didnt have much reno budget so we only shortlisted units that need min. reno. Not many in the market at that time plus we only wanted specific areas so this unit was the best we could get. Sellers stayed in the unit for less than 2 years and luckily they renovated the 2 toilets. We definitely dont have the budget to reno the toilets. here's the common loo. We merely changed the WC, put in some accessories in the toilet as well as the exhaust fan. here's our MBR loo. We also changed the WC, add some accessories and also an exhaust fan. See the Ikea black box? It where I store my facial stuff and mask. Hubby also kept his shaver and shaving cream inside.
  6. thanks but hubby said the curtains tie like so non-chinese. Hahaha, not racist la. Looks too grand to me....would prefer something hype simple hmmmmm.....where's Touch childcare? At which blk? For hougang, most popular would be Holy Innocents followed by Punggol Pri. Both P1 and P2 would be in PM session and P3 onwards would be AM. I prefer AM from P1 to P6 so these 2 not my choice when I enrol my boz. U can consider putting yr girl at before n after day care.
  7. something to share which I posted in my T-blog. We bought this Ikea table for $39 in 2007 to use as a computer table. After close to 2 years, the edges started to peel and looks ugly but decided to shift to new place. Then we wrapped it up and continued to use it as a computer table. Then last week, we got a 2nd hand study table and dont know what to do with it Cheapo ikea table turned small kitchen table for simple makan.
  8. Same curtains for the 3 bedrooms. This for the boz This for mum & dad Finally, this is for our MBR
  9. The curtains at study room and living room which could block out the sun (for our case, its the morning sun), recommended by the Uncle who did our curtains.
  10. well said. From what I have read so far, I think Uncle Soon is doing a decent biz and not one that's out to 'smoke' those who want to achieve their dream home but no $$ like what u mentioned above. Too bad I already renovated my place before Uncle Soon became Superstar. Maybe when I got the budget to reno my 2 toilets then I get Uncle Soon to do it. Cheers!!!!
  11. no problem. yalor good enough for them to replace for u as they hack it by mistake
  12. wow, me also excited with your reno and cant wait to see the pebblewash flooring. When would the tiler complete it for u to show us?
  13. pretend to be super angry and ask for huge discounts. Heee.......
  14. congrats! err....how old is the flat, how big ar? How come no attached bathroom for one of the room to be known as MBR?
  15. the ceramic tiles are in good condition. the MBR bathroom and kitchen very big. Can do a shower screen inside MBR and kitchen still very spacious when cabinets are up. congrats. Btw, how big is your 5-room and is it those newer blocks thats less than 10yrs?
  16. new beds for the boz. They have never slept on beds before. We put the side support for No. 2 and had it removed after few weeks as the boz had no problem sleeping on the beds.
  17. 32" Sony LCD belongs to my parents. We're still saving up to get a LCD in the living room but so far we're still very happy with the 29" TV aka the grand old man. This TV cabinet was left by the sellers. Since condition was near 100% so we kept it. Save $
  18. We didnt have the budget to do much reno especially the ugly grilles so would be saving up to change to the better looking ones that we did for recess area & kitchen. We do away with beds when No. 2 came along when we were still staying at 4-room flat. Then when we upgraded to EM, we did laminated floorings for all the bedrooms and platforms for the boz room as well as our MBR. Now, we finally bought a bed for ourselves and for our duress queen size mattress. Always have difficulties looking for affordable bedsheets for this duress as the height is much higher than normal 10" mattress. Anyway know where to buy Hush Puppies bedsheet? Bought one during Metro sales sometimes in 2007 and now cant find any place selling it.
  19. Hi, initially I also considered hacking a doorway to the kitchen from the recess area but dropped the idea as I may have to install a door which I wouldnt want to. Another reason for dropping the idea was because the permit would take longer than usual to be approved by HDB and we could not wait. We only have less than 3 weeks to get the flat ready. I also thought of saving cost and wanted to do only grilles for recess area but the rain would definitely get into the kitchen (if I were to hack a doorway at the recess area). I would have to get a fire rated door for the new doorway to the kitchen if I choose not to shift my main door after doing windows and grilles. So in the end, we just shifted out the main door after doing windows and grilles. Saw a few units that hack the recess area wall and the kitchen is bigger but I felt it looks abit funny as people standing outside the gate can see right thru the unit and not much privacy unless one keeps the main door closed at all times. plus, looking at your floorplan...I do agree that it looks abit weird for the maindoor to be next to the rubbish chute.
  20. its me, Hello88 just in case some dunno who is this born_again I can see that its really stressful for those planning babies. Maybe me and hubby are the lucky ones. We never had to count the days for ovulation and always achieve marksmanship results the following month once we planned to have another kid. And my menses is super irregular till now.
  21. ya. Employing maids is like heng suay...some are really good but some cant really act and do funny things behind yr back. Which childcare is your girl attending? inside Hg green itself? good idea.
  22. ya but scare the plastic sheet cant withstand the hot dishes so bought the table mat.
  23. something to share. We bought this Ikea table for $39 in 2007 to use as a computer table. After close to 2 years, the edges started to peel and looks ugly but decided to shift to new place. 24. ya, my parents staying with me as gotta take care of my 3 rascals. I really cant imagine how I'm going to cope without my parents. I dont trust maids. Previously, when we had maids, the maids solely handle housework. Cooking would be done by my mum and we never let the maids feed the kids. thanks. Dad gave it a fresh coat.
