Believed your concern is the "grout line visual effect". Basically, you should not have worried much abt where to lay 1st tile. Glossy ginish homogenous tiles with 2 ft x 2ft size, have minimum grout lines, quite the same as those granites. Instead should concern about the color of grout lines to be matched with the tile color, they should be looked with minimum contrast color. Water-leveling is more concerned for me, I used a 3-ft "leveling ruler" (bought at BuilderSmart pte ltd鲁班行)(the one with liquid and bubble, can put & mesure vertical & horizontal) to measure floor level at different place while wip, also the walls & window frames, door frames, floor trap...ask contractor to lay & tilt up a bit the foor step (make sure doors can swing & close without rubbing the tilt floor)

Natural light not sufficient at 2nd floor, in particularly, the area between before 3 rms' entrance/tiolets' entrance/staircase. Give ppl a "ying" feeling. 3. The ramp of staircase (near store room), ppls tend to hit the head. 4. Natural air ventilation not good, in particular 2nd floor, when 3 doors closed, no natural air movement, lagi "ying". Good: 1. Balcony big enough with 2 entrances. Some EMs with "rectangular" balcony, very small. Have = don't have. Note: Classical : Mouth is where ppl in/out and it is the house's facing. "Modern" FS theory suggests the "biggest area" exposure to "outside" is the "facing" of the house. If this theory holds true, then, most of the HDB units' door is not the facing of the house liao. Confused right?
