guys, how much discount do u all get from Kevin's 1st quote? I was shocked to see his quote. $5k more than the highest quote I've had so far from a ID firm which I already feel it's quote is too high. Now like dun even have the feeling to ask him to re-quote unless he gives super big discounts. That's why thought of asking here 1st.

tv with usb ports would be good but most of the time, the codec support is limited compared to those stand alone media player and pc/laptops. that means some videos/music/pictures might not play properly because the codec is not supported. broswing in tv i think still not that common nowadays. i would anticipate alot of problems e.g flash not supported, active-x not supported, plugins not supported. i think not ready to hit main stream yet. I tried with my PS3 browser, not as smooth as browsing on a computer. i've nv tried it before, maybe i am wrong.

that media device has to be a usb device, then you are right.

u plug a usb hard disk with the content u want to watch to the WD TV. Then u connect the WD TV to your TV. Browse to the content on the TV and play it. No need for laptop.

are u getting the mini or normal version. do note that the mini one does not support HD. you can also consider the acryan media player. not bad also but slightly more exp.

not only HD channels, it'll do some upscaling of the SD channels like CH8 and Ch U as well. I have singtel mio tv, starhub digital set top box and starhub hd set top box at home. When viewing those free to air channels via them, they look better compared to viewing the channels via plugging directly to the wall antenna socket. hope you get what i mean. but everyone's tolerance to noisy and grainy pictures is different. so it's up to every individual. if you feel it's ok, there's no need to pay for those set top boxes as they will incur more cost.

where are you going to place your wireless router? if you are not using those mio routers, u can always get a N router. should be enuff to cover your whole house.

dun worry, your pc and switch thru'put should be either 100mbps or 1000mbps. even if split many ways still should be more than what your internet connection is. the bottle neck will still be your internet connection.

for me, 32", unless i am intending to hook it up to a laptop and run it in the full hd resolution, i wun go for full hd. i will not see the diff. but if price diff is not too much, why not? bigger size full hd screens esp lcds, if you plug in directly to the tv socket in your home, your picture will look grainy not matter how good they claim their in-built scaler is. unless you have those set top boxes, the picture should look better. plasmas will fare better with sd content.

do note those in built tuners might not receive the signals clearly thus resulting in no reception or poor quality. to get hd content, better get a setup box.

all smoke lah. full hd is 1080p and not 1080i. if the source of the signal is crap, u use whatever cable also no use. at most u will amplify the crap and make it even more crap.

i think for pergo familiy series, not much colors to choose from. dark colors should be wenge or wooden chocolade.

half leather should mean not the whole sofa is covered in leather. u still need to check whether is it genuine or artificial leather. full leather will mean the whole sofa is covered in leather. wha.. 2.8m is quite long. if hdb, might have problem fitting into the lift or stairs.
