The Paint Story Like what everyone else has done, before painting started, we met up with contractor to discuss the colours to be used, where to paint which colours etc. Henry marked and highlighted all info clearly on the floorplan and faxed the stuff to the painter. At first, progress was good. Painter's skill was also not bad Painter at work: As per everyone's advice on Renotalk, we also went to check if the paint used was as per what was promised. We were glad to see that all the paints delivered were correct . Henry also said that if we discovered any problem, inform him immediately so that he can check on the painter. When painting is almost completed, we noticed that the MBR "feature wall" with Lavender Mist paint was painted on the wrong wall of MBR. Marina blue walls in the studies were still not Marina Blue So we called Henry and he asked the painter to do the rectification. However, when we went up to check next day, we saw that the floor protection were all cleared, signifying the end of painting.... BUT the rectification was stiill not done! Of course we called Henry up again... He was puzzled cos the painter kept saying all job is completed. Later, upon checking again and again, Henry found that the painter TOTALLY FORGOT about the Marina Blue............... We urged Henry to complete the painting soon cos our book shelves were coming in (the shelves occupies the wall with Marina Blue paint).................... *To be continued*

Yea he doesn't put things in paper. We get him to tell us the schedule for next one week (like, Mon do A, Tue do A and start B etc) and we note down ourselves. We also went down to new place daily after work. If we see that something wasn't done as per that weekly schedule, i will sms him immediately. normally he will reply to tell us the reason and whether he is confident in catching up. if i get impatient, i will call him up and he will explain i guess communication is the most important part here... if he informed you the reason why you see no progress and tell you his next plan, you'll be more assured, rite? btw, you only left with carpentry, or still got other stuff? i noticed that towards the end, things tend to get slightly slower, maybe becos of nature of the work (e.g. carpentry, you'll gotta wait) anyway... Jiayou jiayou! -
Clockwise from top left: (1) Toilet bifold door - the same one that dmay didn't like last time... LOL (2) Close up on rain shower.... (3) Ariston storage heater and the stupid fat pipes after painting... it looks SO MUCH better now At first, we wanna paint the pipes beige so it will sort of blend in with the wall. However, think the painter got the colour wrong (again) and painted it while... but when we looked at it, we think maybe white is a better choice, so we stick with the "mistake"...

should be okie ba... so long as you are continuously contributing to society (i.e. gainfully employed and paying tax). i know pple who are PR for more than 20 yrs, while there are also PRs that have their citizenship application rejected and remain as PR... the cases i know with PR extension rejected are when they dun stay/work in SG long enough... -
MBR toilet - after : well, not so much on the resort theme, but at least we like the colour scheme and of course, we love the rain shower!! before we did site inspection, we had grand plans for our MBR... wanna make vanity top (something that i realllyyyy wanted), mirror cabinet, glass shower screen... however, due to the strange layout esp. the windows and pipes, all the above cannot be done... in the end, we purchased the cabinet with basin on top. Also, have to settle with a plain mirror cos none of the mirror cabinets sold off-the-shelf can fit into the space available Regret No.1: Did not ask Henry to custom-made a mirror cabinet for us

okie, more photos.... now, the toilets MBR toilet - before: yucks... dirty, ill maintained, and clogged WC... and the fat ugly pipes that are right in front of the windows and blocking part of it... strange design indeed hubby's 1st reaction: ahhhhh there goes my resort-themed bathroom!!!

till now, i still haven't found the bedside table(s)... though the Ikea "Malm" one at $69 or $79 will be just right for us in terms of colour and price (and the drawers too!), we are just too lazy to carry back and assemble ourselves i do hope to get the bedside tables soon... though it's one more item to clean, at least i can get my hubby to start organising things in the drawers, and not throwing stuff all over the room~

aiyo, i missed the replies in my own t-blog... tsk tsk. froggy, any idea how to maintain the shine on the marble? i kinda feel that the floor is not shiny anymore... though it was very nice when we just polished it. maybe all the moving house + furniture coming in were doing the damage... LOL... i wear slippers at home, so won't be able to feel the cold cold floor

hey junwei/solitaire, your reno really a lot of obstacle... first was HDB permit, now carpenter got car accident.... hope that you can have a fruitful meeting with Henry tonite. Ask him for a schedule and be firmed on it. Henry is a person that can talk to, so long as your request is reasonable, he will try his best to do. and let him know that you are kan-cheong about the schedule... i used to nag him almost daily, so maybe that's why most things were on schedule for me (at least, i get to know first-hand any change in schedule and the reason behind). btw, who is your site supervisor? anyway, all the best and wish that all will go smoothly... cheers~ -
i was also thinking... what if you spill your drink? will the water seep through the platform storage? how you counter this problem? maybe... no food and drinks allowed in the room

i guess it also depends on the condition of your existing tiles as well? if it's in really bad condition now, then re-doing the floor will at least make the house much nicer, and ultimately helps in the valuation of your place? like what other says, it's a matter of taste... i'd love to have parquet floor but there are also pple dun like parquet if you find doing the whole house with parquet is expensive, maybe you can choose to do on only part of the house? e.g. in MBR only. btw, talking about PR renewal, so long as you are gainfully employed, and able to show that you have been contributing to CPF and paying tax continuously, should be able to extend... all the best~ -

ya the really frustrating part is you can't get to talk to them, rite? maybe they have a lot of enquires recently after the announcement on the subsidy was on the news. or.... maybe your number is... banned? okie wrt false ceiling, yes you can leave a conduit in the false ceiling for them to pass through the cable later or something like that... someone posted the instruction in renotalk before... you can search for it -

Thanks guys for your info. yup we are prepared to pay the $$... just that if really the appeal goes through, it will be a bonus~ Also heard about the subsidy, again if we get to pay less, it's a bonus too The funny thing about my area is... i dunno if they can consider to be "done" with my area becos (shared this in supersimon's tblog b4): My block's schedule: Dec 2009 - Feb 2010The block on my left: Mar - Jun 2010The block on my right: 2012 dunno what kind of planning is this~ -

hmmm checked back my hubby's e-mail with Opennet. He called the hotline first, they told him we need to pay $220. he then followed up by an e-mail to appeal for waiver in installation charge. Reason: seller not occupying the flat during free installation period and totally not aware of the free offer (my seller stays in overseas). Anyway cannot install also since no one is there. Then they just asked us to produce evidence to show that we become owner after the free installation period, but they never say whether will waive the charge or not.... They're coming to install next week... keeping my fingers crossed... hope they will approve the waiver! talking about this... i still haven't thought of what to do with the new trunking from Opennet -

same same... my seller didn't even know opennet exists... and the seller agent also dunno so my hubby e-mailed Opennet (forgot if he called also...), they told him that it will be done within the next 2 years cos the period at our area is already over, and they will inform us when they can come to install. Yesterday... they actually called back and said they will come and install next week. he e-mailed to "ask@opennet.com.sg". Is it the same as the one you e-mail? -

bro, who did you call/e-mail? my hubby e-mailed them and got reply within a day leh... but from what i understand, if the initial allocated period is already over, they'll determine when to come down to install, we can't ask them to come at a specific time.... -
My cabinet has the same problem, but it can't be gas leak cos my home has no gas pipe at all according to my mom, she said it's due to some treatment or chemical they use when making the cabinet (but she is not a professional, so just treat what she said as FYI). she said it will go off over time... my mom even said this smell can keep out insect so it's good almost wanted to faint when i heard this. btw, gas from citigas should not give you the "burning" sensation, but you should be able to smell the natural gas (smell like those LNG)

Oh... i thought TS got back the money, hence saying that the seller contradicted herself since the seller also claimed that she didn't receive any deposit.......... -
