Homogenous Gloss For Kitchen Floor Tiles? Advisable?
booksntoys replied to rickzan's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Very beautiful floor! Like it sooooo much!!! Would love such glossy floor for our kitchen, but with many kids in & out most of the time, spilling & dripping water every where, and me doing much cooking, I wouldn't dare take the chance of having glossy tiles in case it's slippery -

there's a thread in RT on -ve reviews on Mitsubishi. Many salespersons in Courts & Gain City dun recommend it and some told us that it's not cold. As for kitchen sink, i bought an anti-scratch one from Poh Seng Hardware @ Jln Besah -

our house is beside the road too...but the dust is 'white/grey'! maybe it's the type of vehicles that pass by, or the type of wind that blows ard our area?!?! i noticed that we're staying at complete opposite end of Singapore - maybe that explains why!! -

Materials That U Regret Using/ Installing

As someone who does all the washing & cleaning, I totally agree with Webbit. My TV, hi-fi, DVD players, sofa & bed headboards are all in black. Dust can seen more easily as compared to surfaces of lighter colours. I wipe them once a week but dust can be seen after a few days. Try not wiping them for 2 weeks and it's obvious enough for my spouse to say,"Wah, how come our house is so dusty?!" I've rounded white sinks and it's definitely faster to clean them than to scrub the corners of the square sinks. -
hi we use wooden skirting for the floor tiles, prices at SBH for less than $3 can only get u beige & cheap looking tiles. THe whiter the tiles, the more ex the price. we used rough & matt tiles in the kitchen & bathroom too - non-slippering & not so noticeable when dirty see the contrast in rough/matt tiles and glossy tiles

white tiles probably have a higher chance of being uneven, on the walls or on the floor. plus it's more noticeable. Happened to us too. Our kitchen wall tiles are 60x30, living/dining floor tiles 60x60 So, either u can a very good tiler who knows what to do with the uneven tiles (e.g, has good workmanship, place them at the sides or corners, exchange them for better ones...) or don't choose white tiles at all -

Yes, he's the one. U have to negotiate with him re the numbers of colours. Here's one from Nippon Odourless All in 1 - Maldives Sand - for our TV wall Here's one from Nippon Easy Wash - Natural Cane - for our dining wall I've 2 other colours for my bedrooms + 1 white (Odourless No.1142) for the rest of the house.

Bought all our lights from them. Very happy with the designs. However, one of the bulb was spoilt when it was delivered. We didn't realize that it was bulb's problem, had thought that something was loose. Thus we didn't inform them 'bt it; according to their electrician, it could be exchanged for a new one. Also, for our dining room light, also the most expensive one ($200+), the transformer was spoilt after only 3 weeks of using. For that, their electrician came & fixed it for us FOC.

oic. For us, we've to top up about $900 for choosing the $4/pc tiles. So now that the tiles are super uneven, it unfair for us to pay the $900. Our discount is around there... no further discount for poor workmanship. Our contractor told us our floor 白做给你们了, i.e., he din earn from it? Dunno how true lah... but i guess there's no perfect reno lor -
wow, we really learn from others' mistakes!

I used Spin powder (3/4 to 1 big cup for full load) and had no problem with water & soapy foam spilling out from the pipe-end. But recently, I switched to yellow Top powder (after reading in RT that it's great for indoor drying). Many times, for the same load as b4, i used 3/4 to 1 full scoop (provided by Top) and soapy foam & water will spill from the pipe-end Oh yes, I wash my blankets & bedsheets using Fuzzy mode.
