  1. so i believe ur contractor pop u the magic question.... "can i bring my clients to see ur place next time?" :D i got quite a few open house visits from mine..... and i charge my contractor royalty fees.... haaaa
  2. cool price, what about the bedroom & living room flooring costs?
  3. Hdb floors n walls are never square and straight at the corners… even if ur contractor/id use a datum (reference) edge n work on. The errors are cumulative and will show up at the end of the wall/floor. The idea is to plan how your furniture layout will be & have those slanted areas covered by furnitures. For me the first "set-off" tile from main door must be str8 & centered and work from there onwards until the slanted areas occur at the inconspicuous , making it less obvious and easier to 收口 (seal gaps). Other than that, there's nothing much u can do liao…
  4. Apparently Alan din forget moi n sent moi a CNY greeting card… was expecting a Noel hamper instead… :D
  5. u can ask ur contractor to do adhoc plaster touchup before painting instead of comprehensive plastering to cut down costs. that's what i did for my reno. also use emulsion paints that is low-sheen type such that any uneven wall surfaces appear more diffused when light shines on them.
  6. it may look obvious as the room is empty, but once u hv furnitures on the floor, it will no longer be tat obvious.

  8. Get a free copy of the dulux color swatches, feel the thickness of L&S vs other types and u can tell the thinness of the paint.
  9. Instant heaters are not designed to work with rainshowers. There are cases of blown/burst instant heaters on such installations.
  10. It's mandatory to prominently display reno notice else if neighbor complain n Hdb comes, will look for owner trouble n issue demerit points to the involved contractors.
  11. Plumbing, electrical, aircon, painting, carpentry shd be the sequence
  12. the rubbish chute hopper nicely and squarely aligned between the two 300mm x 600mm tiles.... at this point in time, it maybe good if u start to inspect the tiling workmanship in details, check everything is in order before the tilers leave for another site, deficiencies highlighted to Alan so he can ask his guys to make good...
  13. give them some breathing space. they shd priortize & know what to do. no point making urself worked up about this...
  14. haha, alan never bluff me, he's using the SAME gang of tilers in his projects.... i recognise the baldy guy so i trust everything is ok and smooth for ya? now that tiling is almost done, can start to rack ur brains on the electricals, plan & decide where the power/LAN points will be.... not to worry, i'm pretty sure he will meet u again to reconfirm the points....
  15. Moonlighting very common out there, service technician use company spare parts do house repairs. Nothing to be surprised about. It's a win-win situation for all; technician earn extra pocket $, bypass company, customer also enjoy lower repair bill with SAME quality n workmanship.
  16. swee... now ur living room reeks heavily of the ikea smell? suggestion, maybe u want to install automatic door closer on ur main door, cos if not careful one big swing can shatter ur sliding glass....
  17. take note if ur opennet TP is already there, just ask the electrician provide power points for u. when ur opennet is commissioned for subscription then u can subscribe to RSP (SingTel/StarHub/M1) where they will arrange with their vendor to come ur place install the ONT. so u cannot really expect the ONT to be done before u start ur carpentry. best is ONT dun conceal, cat5 cables can conceal no problem.
  18. Lolx…the inflatable crow bot at daiso doesn't work. Hang there they still fly in. My mum asked those tofu seller in the market and said put red lights nearby that that'll piss off the crows n no more peck at the tofu n taogay liao…
  19. din have the wobbling problem u mentioned. din see the electrician put any balancing kit also....
  20. Now can search the public register for the housing agent you are dealing with.... http://www.cea.gov.sg/cea/app/newimplpubli...icregister.jspa
  21. Yes. All inside closed cabinet. Preferably not in a shoe cabinet as it maybe too low for maintenance access n if using wireless, router antenna shd be placed high so that signals can cover more areas.
  22. Those diy stores in shopping centers confirm more expensive one. Try the hardware stores in kranji road there. Way cheaper.
  23. The opennet TP output will be light signal, so will require optic fibre cable patch cord to connect. See above wiring diagrams.
  24. ABOUT 800,000 HDB households can expect to receive $50 million worth of utility rebates early next year, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) revealed on Thursday. The payout is part of the $80 million of U-Save rebates the Government will give out in 2011, beginning in January. Another $30 million in rebates will be paid out in July 2011, MOF added. A Singaporean household may receive up to $190 worth of U-Save rebates in 2011, depending on HDB flat type: Those living in 1-room and 2-room HDB flats, for example, will get U-Save rebates which will offset approximately 20 per cent of their annual utility bills on average. The U-Save rebates are part of the $4 billion GST Offset Package to help Singaporeans - especially low and middle-income households - cope with the higher cost of living. 25. If it's long term staying, then it will be worth the effort spend more & do up nicely. One time pain, bite the bullet n do it. The worst thing is to face with something for the next 20yrs which u regretted not doing it in the first place. I think for four/five roomers, highly unlikely will enbloc.
