Sis Marshy You can say that...it doesn't sound like a good employer. The carpenter told me the incident of another ID: This ID came to know that he made about 15-17% profit for his company and feels like 'overcharging' his customer. Therefore, this ID decided to do something free for the owner, which is slightly more than $1000. When their boss came to know about this freeby given to home owner, their boss asked that ID to cough out from deducting his commission!! When the Salesperson or IDs made a loss, they are to come up with the loss from their own pocket money to pay to the company!! Now, not sure how much my ID has to fork out to cover the loss of my project. Then, when the Company has lucky draws for customers, I was told that each and every ID has to sponsor for the total draw$.

Actually I am a very nice lady until I met with the lousy painters and one lousy tiler who gave me problems. This is what the Project Manager said to my ID that 'actually Linda is a nice lady'. The Project Manager came to see me for the first time and I flared up in front of him over the lousy tiler who accidentally stepped onto the first piece of floor tile on the first day when they laid for me, and the hollowness underneath those laid tiles!! All these flaws are reported in my thread here....

My project is the 'spark' which triggers him to throw in the towel, but thank goodness he is very responsible and didn't abandon half way! My ID is also the Asst Project Manager and you can read from my progress update that he is the only person who came to my place like 3-4 times a week, especially when there is new activity going to start. May be I am also very fussy and my ID 'spent' more time in my project. Like this, his company is also unhappy, what to say further? My ID told me that he was scolded in front of everybody during their Dinner & Dance night! I believe this hurts his ego...... My project is not making $$ because of following reasons: a. My ID knows that he was not shortlisted & I was about to award to another ID whose quotation is about $2K cheaper. So, my ID tried to match the price, and in addition, he accepted the offer I gave him for plastering @ $1800, windows @$2500 (from my cheapest contractor's quotation). He told me that there is still marginal profit to be made. In the end, these 2 items were lo$$ making: Plasterer charged him $1900 due to peak season, and windows nearly $2700 (I saw the bill when I was discussing other things with him), partly because ID didn't charge me for the small window at MBR toilet. Then, painting re-do so many times, extra wall & floor tiles because of my stringent quality check and the workmanship by that lousy tiler who was asked to leave! Furthermore, they have to stop flooring for few days while waiting for the Chief tiler to continue with the flooring. For this, he was also scolded for taking too long time to complete my project (whereas it was still within the schedule of 26-Jan completion date I had given to ID since the award date. ). Even the wooden sliding window at my dining area also gave him lots of problem because the edges were not aligned (wooden frame and concrete wall not aligned), which ID solved by adding a wooden panelling along 4 sides FOC. When the carpenter asked me how much I pay for that window, he was shocked and told me their materials already cost so much! So, again, this is another loss incurred to the company. So, with the discount he gave me, the 'underquote' items, the waiting window for proper workers, the 'freebies' he throws in for me (feature walls to cover up recess area in 2 bedrooms), the conversion of normal wardrobe to pole system wardrobe at the same price except for topping up sliding doors (because he knows I am strict in checking their workmanship), the extra wall & floor tiles, etc etc, cause my project become a LOSS to the company!! To me, I am happy that my ID is just trying to get things in the right place for me, and he takes project as though he is renovating his own house. No wonder he was so anxious to get the rectifications done so fast until I have to tell him to slow down. As he has had the intention to resign after my project, I understand that he dare not take in my referrals in January & February. Anyway, he is a really good & responsible guy....and his picture is in this thread. That PM is also featured in this thread here.... so you know why I like to take & post pictues of people?

Sis Maydream1 When I mentioned I am partially to be blamed for my ID's resignation, you asked what did I do, and you said 'Scary'? May, I didn't do anything, but I am indirectly responsible due to my project which gives my ID lots of stress and he always got scolding from his Project Manager for spending too much time on customers' projects! Worst of all, my project is a lo$$ project and they are not making $$$ from my remo package!! As the caption I have chosen for this thread, my renovation is really EXTREME and I am a very DIFFICULT (or BAD) customer!! This ID firm has weekly meeting with their Salesman (IDs) and during the meeting, my ID would feedback the issues problems encountered. Remember the lousy group of painters? My ID has no choice but to 'obey' instructions to engage this group of their lousy inhouse painters which ended up with **** of complaints from me!! When I asked ID to repaint for 3rd time before CNY and before my move-in date, this PM does nothing!! In the end, my ID has to arrange his NEIGHBOUR to come to my house to do painting on a Sunday morning!!! I sent many text messages and calls to the Project Manager, but not a single reply from him!! Then, when they completed and hand over the project to me on 26-Jan-2011, the ID firm expected my ID to collect the balance of payment from me. But I want to hold back until I am 100% satisfied with all punch list items, especially the touch up after my PE inspection (silicon the TV cosole, painting the trunking for gas meter, etc). This further angered the PM and he reprimanded my ID for not able to collect the payment from customers. In an sms to me, ID said to me "Money is not an issue for him, but his company!), that is why I issued a cheque for balance of payment when he and that PM came to visit in February. There are more issues.....I will share here

Sobz sobs Now waiting for the Project Manager to arrange the plasterer to rectify. Already 3 days but NO NEWS NO SOUND from that PM. Really slow arhhhhh!! Can you imagine if I were to engage this ID firm without Donny as my ID????!!!! My extreme makeover will be in jeopardise!!!!! So, it is the ID who makes the difference!!!!!!

agree agree.... I must try to ask the reporter to send those NG photographs which they are not using & I can post here. So far those photographs uploaded here were taken by my iPhone and very old Fuji camera and you can see dark spots on most of the photographs here. Your photography skill is not bad huh...and the pictures taken are very sharp & clear.

Sis May I know there is no headboard, where is your bed facing? Are you using the back of wardrobe as headboard? -
I like the color of wall tiles in your MBR toilet...but dark colors are OUT as my FSM deemed I am sole bread winner & my house must be bright bright. So, the simple design theme is extended to the toilets. Otherwise, I prefer darker tiles for toilet wall. I am hoping that our sacrifice is worth it for the benefits of our family. I know I really made the most sacrifice...financially, emotionally and now 'physically' in the transformation of our house. As long as our children are happy, we know it is worth it.

You have hacking here and hacking there, making the space more open & looks huge. Like my kitchen, my neighbours always say my kitchen looks bigger than theirs although we have same floor area. Furniture layout & color theme play important role too. Nevertheless, May, your house looks really BIg & your reno is making good progress!! -
Hi, kaijia Thank you for dropping by & compliment. Your place is very nice too & I like the spiral lights hung in the staircase ceiling. I also noticed you have relocated your MBR for Feng Shui reason right? On the same subject, my house is sitting North & therefore I cannot use contrast colours like Brown, Red, orange. Therefore, you see a lot of white & grey. Even for the doors, I have to choose natural wood colour & the veneer door installed is the only choice, and I like lighter tone.

Sis May, You are right...I am really amazed at how the photos turned out when the photographer showed me few shots which he used the wide-angle lens. As the saying 'beauty lies in the eyes of beholders'. There are so many design themes for renoation & what I like may not be appealing to others. Moreover my renovation theme comes with so many restrictions feng shui colour-wise, and nothing innovative to shout about. That's why I choose ID over contractors & see how my ID whipped his magic wand lor

I was approached by 2 reporters. This Xhkon is one of them, the other reporter is mellin (Melissa Lin). Actually they both are working for the Sunday's column. Mellissa approached me in Feb & supposed to get mine featured in March. Due to space contraints, it was postponed to April. While waiting for ST to contact me, I got a PM from xhkon & realized it was a duplication!

Hi Hi Bro & Sis Actually I was a little reluctant to have it featured, but decided to contribute to ST's Sunday Column "My Space", & consider it as once in a lifetime experience. I am already old & this could be my last house renovation & future renovation will be my children's home! I have all your mobile numbers & will text you when it is published.
