  3. I see, that's a good tip, no wonder my putty area seems harder to paint over. Went to Royal Fanco yesterday but didn't manage to buy anything I like so popped over to Poh Seng Hardware and bought sink, kitchen tap and storage heater. Sink - $250 Kitchen Cold Tap - $75 Storage Heater (Joven JH25HE series) - $230 Heard from my neighbours that Everjoint @ AMK sells the storage heater on a cheaper price range but since we're at the Jalan Besar area, we just decided to buy. Went over to lightings.com.sg to have a look at lights as well. My loots from Taobao doesn't seems nice (I only got 2 lights meant for kitchen - saw it in one of the T-blogs) cause it's quite malleable so Mister told me not to buy any stuff from Taobao anymore But good thing, we're using that kitchen lights to be fixed for my parents-in-laws' house At least it's being put to use.
  4. simple design can, complex design is better to get ID Did some painting (diy style) before commencement of renovation. It's only for rooms as we're not doing massive renovations in any of the rooms except to install normal lights. I like the door frames so much, dark colour is definitely nicer than grey So, before painting, we have to putty the little holes around the walls/windows/door frames, then we use a scrapper to even out, set in the first coat, then colours (normally 2 coats)! Putty, painting and brushes (total costs) - approximately $350

  6. Any feedback on Ikea lights? - Colleague has been using ikea lights for 3-4 years and it's going well, she says though many people advised against, she finds it an overall good experience while using their lights. Bulb going strong and if need to change, just buy from ikea. Any other fan good to buy beside KDK - sorry can't afford Haiku fans - Neighbour recommend Fanco, Rega (Another neighbours says to go to Royal Franco - their prices are quite good) Hope it helps!
  7. Hi OceanEleven, Thanks. Decided against using the ID/contractor and seek to do my renovation ala carte style since prices are way too high (i don't mind if they earn x1/x2, but x3 is crazy). I've gotten my own electrician, false ceiling guy, carpenter, tiler and hacker to do stuff I want.
  8. After reading all these posts, I feel **** emo, cause my quote was even higher than mishmash. :'( Should I look for other IDs/Contractors again or should I ask the current shortlisted one if they can lower the prices?
  9. Hi, would like to have your ID's contact as well. Thanks!
  10. SuperMama, can give me your painter's contact too? Thanks!
  11. can ask to lower, usual quotes is 110/120 for iquartz I saw. PTopaz, thought iquartz may be better cause it's thicker but most likely, will ask for sample of both and go home to do testing.
  12. The prices are about the same as what I've gotten for my shortlisted ID except for a few, my is exp by $5/$10. Hope it helps.
  13. Nice! Anyway, the beauty of the house is always through decorating the home with furnitures and little stuff which I believe can be purchased along the way
  14. Yup, PTopaz, is same price as quartz, me going for quartz in that case. Maybe cause now more 'atas' and chio looking so pricier?
  15. Seeing your post makes me reconsider going for Kompactop instead of Quartz. Care to share price per ft (tried to google more about Kompactop but seems like it's quite tough to find info). Thanks!!
  16. Sorry for the Hiatus, been busy at work and lazy for renovations. Popped over to Gain City expo over the weekend and bought the following stuff for my meow home. Things for Meow Home 1. Air-conditioner (Sharp, System 3) More details: https://sharp.com.sg/web/products/prodDetail.asp?prodId=555 2. Television (Philips, Ultra Slim Smart LED TV, 46") More details: http://www.philips.com.sg/c/televisions/4000-series-ultra-slim-smart-led-tv-with-digital-crystal-clear-46pfl4208d_98/prd/?t=specifications 3. Fridge (Mitsubishi, 3 Door, 3 ticks , Pure White) More details: http://www.courts.com.sg/Products/PID-IP076234(Courts)/Home-Appliances/Refrigerators/2-to-3-doors/MITSUBISHI-3-DR-FRIDGE-430-L-MRV45EPWHP-PURE-WHITE (can't find in Gain City website) I like things white so my fridge is white and I'm lovin' it but Mister was quite annoyed that it's only 3 ticks (I bought it without him around =X). Lesson learnt - always follow instructions, if Mister says to buy 4 ticks eco friendly stuff, must really buy the 4 ticks one! Does 3 or 4 ticks really make a difference anyway? 4) The Design Store Sofa Bed Saw this sofa bed at The Design Store by Lifestorey (It's at Tai Seng!) and thought it looks super chic, price is on a high side ($999). Mister has never given any approval for ikea's sofa bed but immediately said yes upon seeing this so I guess this is a must buy piece then! The Design Store has a lot of really nice furniture pieces around (see the name already so cool also!) so do pop by to see if there're anything that is suitable for your home (http://www.lifestorey.com/catalogue/Seatings-T12.html?ST=2)

  20. Yeah, have no choice then. Hahahas, I'm looking at Bosch, Tecno, Ariston or Rinnai. Hopefully I can settle for something classy and reliable. Hello SuperMama, thanks for intro Most likely but I still need to confirm some more details. Looking for ID/contractors is a chore! Hope my renovation starts soon. Yup! Light box I saw your renoblog, <3 it. it was exactly what I told the contractor. Young chap, do not know how to say nice things I'm also very afraid of the insects accumulation. Still undecided yet >.<
  21. Oh, I'm aiming 300mm kind, likely those 500mm by 300mm type of small small. Yup, tough choices but still maintaining a positive outlook Heee, I know a lot people have cats. But they really cannot be enclosed Yup, we like them but we can't have them. On the other hand, I''m adopting a poodle who is given away and my spitz to my new house Try Renzz, like not bad leh Or contractor? Someone told me false ceilings with lights only look ugly so I'm thinking maybe two stripes of cove lights and 3 downlights at each other side. point noted on making use of that space near bomb shelter, time to buy a small ikea table to put there
  22. Wow, finally found someone who is relocating tv and phone point. Is it a concealed relocation of these pounts? I was told can only do trunkings for the relocation.
  23. Getting those small 2 burners hood, hopefully can squeeze in. Oh, it will be top and bottom (yikes, I forgot to draw a top up) Agree that space will be very constraint but I hope I can make do! 300mm of walking space is really too tight. Being the careless me, I'll confirm knock into either 1) the wardrobe or 2) the bed frame. Am sacrificing another room to use just mainly for wardrobe till I finally figure out (one day, perhaps) how to make things right Oh, am looking at pole system kind of wardrobe, looks very interesting and make full use of spaces. FS reasons Am hacking away the excess wall (at the kitchen entrance) too~ Back to square 1 again :'(
  24. Oh, we have the same idea, I'm skipping dining lights cause my table is to be shifted when guests come and the dining lights make no sense
