Why not try your neighbourhood electrical stores? Eg those at alexandra village. For me such big departmental stores are good only when I need to pay by instalments; if paying full cash I will always go neighbourhood stores that do not have high overheads like expensive rental, manpower and advertising.

Ya I am also using this, both at my parents' place and at my new home. On surface of course this is more expensive, $100+ for a 20L bin, but like CM said, it really can last. My parents' place one was with us for the past 5 years... No leh, I am first-time home owner. I was very disturbed by those plastic step bins at my parents' place previously, and Brabantia turned up when I tried to find better ones. Spend abit more for the matte one (no fingerprints) is definitely worth it; my room's 12L one is shiny, just outside my toilet so always got watermarks because clumsy me will always splash droplets of water everywhere after bathing. Its really quite irritating...

All are subjected to negotiation between the seller and buyer mah; the seller's considerations would be how hot the property is, any other offers, urgency to sell, other conditions, etc. If its a hot property, do you think he will hold for 14 days until exercise option, with less than $100? If you fail to exercise, that's the only compensation he will get. Imagine if he turns away other offers after you bought the OTP, what is his loss...?

Ya I know, talking about some *rare* honest agents lor... Sometimes duno whether to be angry or to pity these agents; few tens of dollars also want to earn. I have known of some (but really rare one lor) who will even pay all these small fees; you just need to pay their comm.

Erm, do it yourself also $80 leh. If u got a good agent who honestly use ResaleNet, then $60, cheaper... Or find a desperate agent to pay for you lor...

Its true; in your case probably the seller did the do the valuation and you got to do it lor. Sometime sellers pay valuation first to know how to price their flats properly. But ultimately the valuation rept is used by the buyer for loan application mah, so you have to pay lor. This is a requirement for all loans relating to HDB flats, whether HDB or bank loan. Unless you don't take loan at all and pay cash (no cpf involved), then no need to do valuation lor.

Just name us a few places of those MANY places that sells better quality steel pull outs than VIBO, at better price with better service, and let discuss on that. Ahem, we are looking for people who will volunteer their flat for gathering and watching fireworks together one leh. Yesterday saw one unit very nice, MBR can see fireworks clearly. Some of us volunteer to carry out the furniture on that day, then set up tables and chairs with drinks and food in the MBR for fireworks-watching. But till now she never respond leh... BTW anyone will be at Tanglin Halt on 1st Jan'08?? Maybe can meet up for breakfast/lunch or something...?

There is no right or wrong answer to this; all old wives' tales, up to people to believe and "imagination". You can't cater to everyone's beliefs mah, so like I said as long as both sets of parents (yours and your wife's) are okay, then dun need to care too much about others lah.
