I think if you 'ar-kao-liao' with the manager, he will let the security or staff take a photo with you, complete with uniform, walkie-talkie and earpiece. So one hand on the shoulder of the staff, one hand holding on the limited edition speedy bag. Oh make sure the photographer focus on that 1-carat diamond ring on the middle finger hor!! !!

I would put it this way: The agents are on commission and they are just doing what they have to do. But nobody is putting a gun to your head; if you succumb to all those honeyed words and did not do your own homework, you only have yourself to blame. Remember, agents are only facilitators for your transactions; maybe because of their profession you want to CONSIDER their advice, but to take their words as the gospel truth will only lead to your own funeral.

Tell him to go take a look at all the aircon compressors in our blocks - everyone is having two compressors on the aircon ledge WITHOUT blocking the aircon window. Unless his aircon is super old model, compressor big big one? There are basically three types of commonly used water heaters: 1. Instant Water Heater - Directly connected to your shower head, hence placed inside your toilet. 2. Electrical Storage Heater - Heats up water for all the sinks and showers in the house; usually placed in the kitchen. 3. Gas Water Heater - Heats up water for all the sinks and showers in the house; usually placed in the kitchen. So unless you are using instant water heater, usually people do not place the heater in the bathroomS. ONE storage heater is enough for ALL bathrooms... Yes. Why not try the gas water heater since its free?? Don't like then change to electrical one lor. Rather than price, I think you would be more concerned about the temp of the water. This is because since gas heater does not have storage, they would take a while to heat up the water, depends on the length of the pipes also. Gas heater only switches on when you turn on the tap and it switches off when you turn off the tap, I guess that makes it cheaper. But for electrical storage heater, it has to remain on all the time to have instant hot water. If you keep switching it off after use, the tank of water inside would turn cool so will take even longer to heat up later on. But if you don't turn off, then waste electricity...so dilemma lah! -

Yeah, sounds like Darwin's flooring contractor coming in here to ***** about them... -
Add on to HSH21's post: As long as you are able to secure the place after inspection, which day before the 2nd appt doesn't really matter. The objective of the inspection is to make sure that you are getting all the fixtures and fittings as agreed. When I bought my previous flat, I also gong gong don't know about this, went for inspection but never lock the flat, few days later then go 2nd appt. Luckily nothing is amiss lor...

De Palmco Pte Ltd
zirhk3355 replied to bullet's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Well I just felt that he was over-zealous in getting some ex-customer to give comments on de palmco, but like abovementioned by a forummer, its not necessary. Whether anyone else give further comments or not, its not going to make a difference to reload's flat. I seriously doubt reload would feel consoled or relieved to hear good comments from other customer, because at the end of the day, her flat is still screwed up! The only way she can feel relieved is how to deal with the errant contractor, and what are her options/recourse. Not too sure about this. Sometimes it depends on sales talk also - say I am a contractor with bad publicity and a potential customer confronts me about it, its really up to my sweet talk to convince them. You say not everyone is so guillble? Then why do we still have people falling for MLM/timeshare scams, nigeria scams, 'magic stones' scams, just for example? Its all in the honeyed words and elaborated trickery. Or, make it simple: Change company name! By now I think we have seen more than enough fly-by-night contractors, because to close down a company and opening another one is simply a matter of snapping the fingers (of course, provided no bad debts or insolvency filed against the company). Simply put, reputation is simply something non-existence to alot of contractors out there, especially for those unknown companies and recently-opened ones. -
Actually can write in to SCDF for approval to take photos inside...maybe can take on the big big fire engine also?? Haha...till now you still don't know what I meant by those pics...hehe, never mind. Anyway, I went to Sibu Island in Malaysia for my photoshoot; its not very far away, about 1+hr bus ride to the ferry terminal, Tanjung Leman, then another 20mins on speedboat to the island. There are a few resorts on the island so you can search the internet for it, not very expensive also.

Okok, really try to go back to topic, eh? Can try another rustic place at the fire station opposite Funan IT Mall. Also these few days I noticed a few couples taking photos outside my office building, this is at the end of Robinson Road, nearer to Raffles Place (not CPF building), and they use the AIA building as backdrop. I went to observe and found that the angle is quite nice, gives a very corporate feeling to it...

Hmmz, seemed like quite a few of us cannot make it. How about Sunday afternoon then? Never mind not alot of people lah, just gather around and we see how lor. The other day we also didn't know who will turn up, but in the end about 5 couples! Just come lor...surely someone will be there! (or at least you will see zirhk sitting there by himself...haha) So let's fix it on 7/10, Sunday, 2pm? -
I had always been around leh...but more active in my neighbourhood thread. Erm, actually my reno is quite reasonable and I am good with the ID. Budget for reno alone (which means no curtains, no lightings, no furnishing) is about $30k+. I guess its within reasonable budget because most of the stuff are normal, eg normal laminate, tiles, paint, hinges, etc no Blum, Alumix or whatever. Maybe its the flat's layout and selection of colours/materials made the difference (thanks again to the ID and my wifey's contributions for that!). Yeah the windows was one of the main factor why we chose this layout, but when come to cleaning also super duper tiring lor... Aiyo, can we please forget that already?? Haha...almost moved on liao then someone will bring up again!

De Palmco Pte Ltd
zirhk3355 replied to bullet's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
I am sorry to say this but it seemed that you are really anxious to see a 'good remark' posting on De Palmco. Why?? I mean, if you feel that they are good, then go for it. No need for others to justify your choice mah. Look at since when this thread was started with the company's name, plus a few of you had been appealing for further comments quite some time liao, but nobody come forward. This could only mean only two things: Either no other forummer had chosen De Palmco, or there are no good comments at all. Further, its not the number of complaints that counts, but the QUALITY of the complaint. Even Reload may the only guy ranting here, you must agree that he had justified a few valid complaints (with pictures) that should not have happened for any other average contractor. BTW, what is De Palmco's official company name? The name "De Palmco" is not listed in HDB's registered contractor. Also checked on ACRA, "De Palmco Pte Ltd" was just registered in 2006, so again putting his claim of being an 'experienced' renovator to question. There are no other "De Palmco" or related company names being registered. Just my personal view, but with all these uncertainties, if I were you, I would have dropped them long time ago already. -
You mean my first posting in this thread? No lah, no trick lah; one must always put ourselves at the level of the other party mah. So I thought someone soooo wealthy must be talking along the line of overseas photoshoot, sentosa and fullerton all these where got interest her. These places are for cheapos like you and me...not her... You forgot, she is supposed to be 'shopping' now, so must live up to the story mah. Even if she is reading now also cannot post, must wait until 9pm or 10+ then can post, otherwise pi-cha lobang, everyone know she is not shopping...

No problem lah, visiting is only one of the agenda - main thing is to meet friends and get to know neighbours mah. If 10am too early then maybe 11am? 12pm also can... Wahh, healthy lifestyle...hehe...I know I should exercise also lah, but no will power. Exercise already eat even more! Anyway just come down for a chat that day lor...like above said, maybe not so early, like late morning or noon time instead... -
Yeah maybe that's the privilege of hiding behind a screen name and never come out in person - who knows, she may be one of us with a double nick! Come out in person as 'xxx', then in forum posting radically as 'korea'. But I can't do that leh - every forum I visit is always this nick, and I always make personal friends in forum so cannot pull such tricks...
-
Woah...I thought my first post was bad enough, but you guys are worse leh!! ROFLOL... But guess what really takes the cake?? The person in question! After at least THREE whole pages of postings talking about her like that, she still can post cute smileys and laugh it all off. Don't even mention a lady, for me as a guy in this situation I think I will really turn red in embarassment already... Pei fu, pei fu...*clap clap*

Do note that the exit near sheng siong allows people to go onto Tanglin Halt Road, then turn right shortly can go into the small road between the NPP and wet market, then go onto Commonwealth Dr. If can only exit at the primary school c/site, then drivers who want to go Commonwealth Dr will have to go all the way to the end of Tanglin Halt (near the church/indian-temple junction) and turn right, which is a big round. Another thing is I was looking at the 'man-made' dirt track right smack in the middle of the grass patch, felt that its really the stupid landscape architect's fault - should have built a nicely-designed pathway, so that people from the wet market can walk straight to our roundabout and playground. Guys, I think its time for another meetup? How about this Sunday morning? According to the Koufu signboard, it should be open this Friday liao (although I am highly suspicious), so we can gather there on Sunday morning, say 10am, then go visit again lah. Onz?? -

Speaking of timing, maybe I **** suay or what, but I always get the darnest timeslot for the given period. Eg the appt is between 2pm to 4pm, I will kana either at 2pm SHARP, then I not home yet, so got to rush back; or I will kana at 4pm, which means I am sitting there gong-gong waiting for 2 hrs... -
Is that a ready-made nozzle? Cuz it looks custom-made, but very nicely done. I also have an issue with the flex-tubing but both the ID and sanitary people told me that it cannot be avoided if I am going to use HDB's mixer with rain-shower. Unless I install a rain-shower that comes with a mixer then can have direct link, but I will have to waste the one HDB gave me lor. Guess I have to go grill them with your pic...hehe...
-
Another thing are the wall tiles - try to knock on most of them if possible to see if they are hollow, which may drop out after awhile. Not sure about your site but I am quite happy with my building centre; I reported some minor defects like bomb shelter door too tight, light switches too stiff and bad TV antenna signal after I moved in and renovation works are over. They came over to rectify them swiftly the following day. IMO now that the contracting is outsourced, the main con also want to impress HDB mah, so they usually would help to rectify anything possible, unless its an obvious defect done by renovation works.

I only known of one very smart creative director in advertising lah, **** good one lor. But not sure about private architecture designers leh...are they also good??? -
Basic rule of thumb for almost all transactions: WHOEVER HOLDS THE MONEY SHALL TALK! So if you want the agent to listen to your instructions, simple: Hold back the money. Its as good as tying a puppy with a metal chain, sure-hold and confirmed kuai-kuai at your beck and call. But unless you like to torture yourself to be at your agent's beck and call instead, then by all means pay him/her early.
