Agreed. I insisted on double layer of protection for my floors. Not sure it will help. But realised that each time a contractor comes to do something, they will tear a bit from some corner to put it under the area they r working for additional protection. If this continue, soon all the protection paper will be gone! So I'm bring some cupboard papers up the next time.

Just realised there might be a problem to conceal the gas pipe which has to runs from the top left corner to the bottom cabinets. How to conceal the pipe in this case?

That is y we putting another row of 3 downlight b/w the living area and dining area. I'm thinking instead of a downlight at the left corner of the living room, prehaps I should put a hanging light? But it will be placed nearer to the corner. Not sure if it will be bright enuff. What you think?

Hi, I am looking for 24 downlights that can be controlled by remote control. The frame of the downlights have to be white and preferably comes with a chamfered edge to better blend into the ceiling. Are there downlights with round frames? Do I need an additional device to enable dimming of lights? Thanks in advance!

Hi Junxian! Yes, I am aware of it. So my contractor would be giving me some spare ones so that I can change it in the future. He is using the mechanism supplied by Excel. You know where your ID/contractor get the mechanism from?

MBR Toilet: A black laminate with shiny sparkles was chosen to create some luxury feel in the toilet. There was a door to the shower panel that we removed it after our neighbour who has built the door advised us not to do so as the toilet is really small. My regret about the toilet is that we did not overlay the tiles due to budget constraint. Otherwise, I believe the whole feel of the toilet will be much better. Lastly, the WIW: A white WIW that comes with a white 2-fold nyatoh door, 2 rows of white wardrobe with white and see-through glass casement doors, a white dressing table with chest of white drawers below. Lastly, we will be putting white carpet and use white curtains to really make the whole WIW white. We decided on a silver round door knob rather than the gold ones in the 2nd and 3rd drawings.

Dear all! After 6 weeks of weekly meetings with my contractor, we have finalised the 3D drawings. In total, we did 6 sets of drawings. 1st up - the kitchen: Simple, neat and timeless are the words I would use to describe our kitchen. White for the top cabinet, glass backsplash and table top. Whereas the bottom cabinet will be black. Initially, We wanted a black glass door for the kitchen, but after a few iterations, we decided on a clear glass door. Lastly, a white fridge will be used instead. Living room: Use of two different black laminates for the TV feature wall that stretches from wall to wall. The two black laminates in reality do not have such a big difference in term of colour tone as seen in the drawings. But rather, their colour tones are quite similar and one would notice some subtle differences in their texture/finishing when put side by side. Suspended TV console by the side with a black glass in the middle portion to enable the use of remote controls. But be warned : some extra efforts are required for the connections b/w TV and console (eg, extension of power cord and AV cable at The Funan Center. With minimalist theme in mind, there will be only 1 door for the TV console. On the right facing the TV is the 4 (tic-tac)doors full height shoe cabinets.It will come with internal track system to allow flexibility in shelving configuration. Next to the shoe cabinet, facing the kitchen entrance, is the bomb shelter concealed by a tic-tac door that has the same laminate finish as the shoe cabinet.

I saw that in Ikea too. But I don't like those furniture where you can assemble by yourself. The dimensions of the pieces may not fit nicely after assembled.

Dunno where to find nice side table too. I've been to a few place but din see any nice side table yet. Guess all side tables looks the same? I would go for a white one for the contrast.

Thanks for the update. Seems like MA is still having problem sticking to their promised delivery date. I asked around and was told it is pretty common in furniture retailers. True? The colour looks nice to me leh. I think the room lightings plays a more important role, prehaps a nice side table lamp will enhance the whole look and feel?

A quick update on my reno progress. We r still finalising the 3D drawings. It's into the 5th set already! The headache ones are the living room and WIW. I think this is one point that I like to commend my contractor for being patient with us and willing render more 3D drawings to help us in our decision making!
