  1. huh? if you engage a fsm, he will go to your flat. just show him your design and let him see which part needs to be change/rectified. FSM dont give you 3d drawings, they are not interior designers. Most will give you a floorplan with furniture/stoves/..etc 's layout.
  2. for poor man like me - NOTHING CONCEALed. cos I dont have the money to hack + patch + repaint! 1) if there is any wiring problem - the only way to troubleshoot is to hack open the wall and find out which wire is burnt. 2) if you need to add additional light points/ sockets at a later time - same as above -HACKING! 3) if you need to change the position of the sockets(somehow it's obstructing your new furnitures) = same HACK! 4) lightning strikes - telephone wire burnt, my modem deepfried - i kena this before in old 3room flat. Took the telecoms guy less than 10mins to rectify the problem. If concealed - go imagine.
  3. ya, it all boils down to responsiblity and consideration. theres no need for rules if everyone behaves. a 4room flat near me, owners just let their small dogs **** at the concrete void deck! not on the grass.
  4. then it's the hinge? can DIY but you got to be very careful, if your windows fall to the ground you are in big trouble. rivets cost around $6.00 a pack(100 pcs), some shops sells loose 50pcs. a riveter costs around $6-$12.00 when buying, ask the shops' assistant to teach you how to use it. I change all my rusty handles by myself by using rivet.
  5. i spray everything that is SS. for the dish rack - i wash it a day later with mild soap. the idea is to get have a protective layer covering the SS..it's more retarded to stains/dirt. infact 2+ mths liao, all my SS stuffs still looks machiam NEW. price - $10-$13.00
  6. wash with mckenic - i did this without any HARD scrubbing. then, if theres any holes...patch them up with putty filler.
  7. it's actually BS - SS rivets are cheap. it's the labour charges that is expensive. the aluminium frames are not meant for screws(cos there isnt any screw thread to hold, except for the arms). which part of the window did you look at?
  8. date choosing is related to your bazi. When you go to a fsm, he will choose a date based on your 5 elements(BAZI). a certain day may be good to most people but it is definitely not to EVERYONE.

which master? there is only one here in renotalk(officially), under Fengshui Consultation section. not here. it's not hilarious in fengshui with regards to this - no worries. some powerful fengshui masters even let you choose boy or gal - but you got to have a rectangular/square house without any missing corners(especially east and southeast). next, your bazi - are you destined to have a kid? 3rd, need to find the right hour/day to "process" it.
  10. to use that something in his hand to POKE anyone who dares to complain to patrick!
  11. wah...will ask wife to try it out. me already tried hello88's toothpaste method - now waiting for results. if $3.50-$4 per piece then i dont mind the long-Q now cheapest i can find outside is $5.50 - energy saving bulbs.
  12. sorry from personal point of view. it's still the ID's fault. He should know the regulations and stick by it, instead of doing things ala China way - do whatever you want and then BRIBE the officials later to get approval.
  13. ya, the timer is solely for exhaust fan. cos after leaving the toilet , just turn the knob(1-20mins) and it will automatically turn off by itself. so I dont have to walk all the way back to turn it off. I diy it. telephone = $60 SCV = $90 MIO too new, same like microsoft vista - me aint gonna be their guinea pig.
  14. PLC also known as Compact fluorescent lamp.(CFL) the pins are the same - but do bring along your 13w bulb just to make sure. Dare not tell it 's the same cos I am not using them. http://www.lighting.philips.com.sg/sg/en/P...tab=application http://www.lighting.philips.com.sg/apr/con...amily_sg_en.pdf
  15. Pledge's parquet dont think it's exp - cant remember though. around $6-9, definitely less than $10. any NTUC, carrefour, giant has it.
  16. what i mean is - 99% of doorbell in the market uses BATTERY. if you hate to replace battery and wants the doorbell to be wired into your electrical wires, then you need a transformer.
  17. Lightings Plan as much energy saving bulbs as possible - you wont like it when PUB smiles whenever they send the bill. cos you will be crying when you see your bills. Or just do your part as a earthling, energy conservation, green, protect da OZONE! And buy ONLY philips or osram, the rest are crappy products that burns out/blown within a short period - you end up paying more. I will be completing soon on my T8 fluorescent tube conversion to T5. left 2 bulbs to go. Some info + pics comparing T8 and T5. Will talk about the myth/BS regarding electronic ballast on later post. T5 tube = 16mm diameter T8 tube = 1 inch diameter 4 feet T8 tube consumes = 36 watts 4 feet T5 tube consumes = 28 watts + extra savings using a electronic ballast. 2 feet T8 tube consumes = 18 watts 2 feet T5 tube consumes = 14 watts + extra savings using a electronic ballast. T8 tube = can use magnetic ballast or electronic ballast(saves electricity) T5 tube = can ONLY use electronic ballast this is the lousy cheapo cheap$ bulb that was blown in less than 6 weeks(24x7) a philips $9 electronic ballast for lighting up to 36 watts
  18. USE only philips or osram. go take a look at the flourescent tubes - are they normal ones? 1 inch diameter = T8, 16mm = T5 if it's those slim T5 tubes then no worries lor - they are VERY energy saving. i bought my t5 4feet tubes at $4, t5 2 feet at $3. I still in the midst of coverting all my T8 to T5 , left 2 more to go. I will post the pics in my blog, come take a look at the bulbs.
  19. hope half of your 50 lighting points are wiring to energy saving bulbs - or the PUB will be the one laughing very nice reno - warm. !!
  20. all doorbell that takes it's power from 240v have to go thru a transformer. they sell the transformer too. go block 30, the shop with lots of socket switch on display outside/ besides a walkway to block 29.
  21. ya no matter what your house theme is, tell your contractor/id that you want lots of ENERGYSAVING bulbs. Buy only philips or osram - the rest are crap. If you have lots of downlight in a row, 5w bulb is suffice. And you wont regret when you receive your PUB bills.
  22. not scare of 7th mth - me now MORE worried about that frightened cat - donno will kena heartattack or not
  23. Buying stuffs (furnishing accessories) Plan early, buy early. The moment you have decided to buy a flat - or waiting for your BTO to complete. Start buying strait times on fridays on saturdays and LOOK OUT for warehouse sales. Throughout the year, there are many warehouse sales by companies who just wants to clear excess stocks/defects items. And many are expensive branded stuffs! There are real good deals like $5 for a water tap or $50 for a designer mixer. I even got a super single bed FREE from my buddy whose aunt is the distributor for a very expensive mattress brand - the catch - the mattress was damaged during delivery - some scratches. Normally they would just sell it for $400-$600(defect mattress), but bcos it's my buddy - i got it free. Electrical - buy DISPLAY SETs - fridge, washing machine, vacuum cleaners. anything except TV. They are usually priced 30-50% cheaper than a new set bcos of cosmetic damages/scratches. Basically they were as good as new cos they were NOT demo to customers except for TV. Good deals are hard to come by, shop early! A square basin from genova warehouse sale - $30 and $50 for the mixer with swivel aerator.
