    if you r into taoism(praying dua peh kong..etc). then buy a few hundred million dollars and burn them at the voiddeck of your new house. nowadays got happy meal type package, think $8-$10 includes everything like josssticks/candles except lighters.
  4. there is but - only if you are 1) the boss or 2) sitting the No1 chair in sg, boss is far the far far away.
  5. those are called as circular fans. the only type of fan that can dissipate heat. the real industrial fans you see in kopitiams and factories - they are all over 110 watts - drinking electricity.
  6. cant compare an apple to a orange. at last you got the above point correct. this is what we are talking about here - same designs but ID's pricetag. I didnt mention returns. It the feasibility issue of paying DURIANs and yet getting a monkey. Maybe you should do a poll - and see how many house owners would want to spend $60k and had their reno looking-the-same as everyone else's house. those rich ones would be busily spending 5-6 figures renovating their million dollar condos and multimillion dollar semi-ds/bunglows, dont think they have much time to come to this forum. I have already stated clearly - your money, not mine, how you spend it, thats your problem. Nobody has the right to tell anybody HOW to spend their money and at the same time Nobody has the right to stop/reprimand anybody from laughing at several/tons of identical design HDB houses which was paid thru the nose.
  7. you are missing the points. the purpose of engaging a ID is to give a house design that is unique and suits the taste of the owner. no 2 house owners can have the same taste but the problem is - IDs are giving copy and paste designs to all their customers which i find NO POINT in spending $60k and have my house looking the same as everyone's house. I have been to quite a number of housewarmings - sad to say, only 2 houses look unique(40k-$50k) and a few that looks lagi more unique($20k less), the rest all looked the same! the lesser the owner spends on reno - the more unique his/her house is. cos the owner focus more on furnitures, furniture layout, off the shelves deco items...etc.

  9. dont worry. choo chiang all fixed pricing - no bargaining. one price for all - contractors or consumers.
  10. it already happenned during 1997-2004....many have jump either out of the window or onto mrt tracks. when i was working in marina sq 1998-1999, every couple of weeks big size car trailers would wait at the main road(opp oriental) while towtrucks went into the car park and drag out pretty cars and load them onto the trailers. on housing - those days it's was popular for greedy young adults who went out of their way to buy a condo and using the rents to pay for instalments. many either end up bankrupt, condo reposessed or hdb flat reposessed or both. what is $200 or $2000 monthly instalments when one has a job? it's nothing. but when one is jobless? Even a $2 chup chai peng is a big problem.

The worst part on top of impractical reno, i believe - is the spending of future money which has prompt quite a number of news articles in ST. ___________________________________ Oh honey, if we didnt spend that 60k on reno 10 yrs ago - right now; 1) we would have had enough money for our kids' or our hospital/medical bills bcos our medisave is not enough to cover. * check the facts on medical * 2) we could have spend our christmas riding reindeers in sweden/switzerland. And visit the whole world in near future. *check ST classified Tour packages* 3) we could have given our kids' the best education money can buy. *$500-$1000+ for a good kindergarden* 4) we could have pull through this difficult period without the need to jump out of the beautiful window of our 60k renovated hdb cos one of us is jobless and the bills keeps piling up and there is no one to help. 5) we would not have to be declared a bankrupt and had our 60k reno house reposessed by the bank/hdb. bla bla bla....... 50-60k is a lot of money, period.

  15. use cheapo wires for the rear - cos it's only for effects, got sound can liao. throw your money into the front, some pple even willing to sell their backside for big big python snakes for their main front.
  16. hmm.... it does take 15min or more to heat up though. but since it's a popular brand - we bought it. so far no problems - no leaking .
  17. you can DIY when you have time - about 30mins-1hour. if the connector can be open or open up the phone - there should be 4 wires connected for older phones - currently we are using only 2 wires. get a telephone wire - cut it, splice it. by trial and error, tap the 2 wires into the 4 wire connectors of the phone. Don worry, you cant "shortcircuit" the phone. I got no problem with my 1930s rotary phone with singapore tel line. Just that when dialing 1800 or handphone numbers with a lot of 9s and 8s ....buey tahan

  19. Dont you think it's just plain LOGIC that if you were to spend 50-60k engaging a ID - you want your house to look SPECIAL and different from everyone else's house?
  20. One thing i keep wanting to say - but aint nice on other pple's blog. Why spend $50-$60k to engage a Interior Designer only to find out that 99% of all those new houses in your block looks MORE or LESS same as yours? feature walls(tv console) - when 99% of your neighbours all have this - what/how feature is this feature wall? string curtains - as above, unless you hang G-strings in a row wall decals - when it starts to peel off by itself, you will know "HOW" special it is. pebbles/sand - when it comes to cleaning HA! very very special indeed. not applicable to those who can afford maids. Stuffs meant for hotels/restaurants false ceiling virtually EVERYwhere - from livingroom to bedrooms to toilets/kitchens. 99% of hdb flat have low ceiling except for some units(top most flr) - why make a low ceiling even more lower? lower ceiling is HOT/warm. 99% of kitchen and toilets have moisture = things starts to get ugly real soon unless appropriete measures are taken(ventilator). 30x-50x downlights - WOW, most pple wont switch all of them on after moving in - especially after receiving their first PUB bill. 50 pieces of lets say energy saving 5w bulbs = 250 watts, very energy saving indeed. "salt onto the wounds" = Downlights with built in ballast - another WOW, when you need to replace the ballast. To top it up - 50k-60k are reno loans = super WOW!!! hopes everyone keep their job for the years to come. If you are paying CASH 50-60k for it = geez , you must be rich!!! All the above are my personal opinions - your money, not my money, how you spend your money none of my/our biz but everyone definitely have the right to laugh.
  21. have heard of crane hauling up BIG and THICK glass panels up 3rd or 4th storey hdb for FISH SIAO's fish tank.

    stove not underneath the beam in kitchen = no problem. sofa under the beam in lviing room? house owners(dweller) just dont sit directly below ok liao - let guests sit.
