Is the bluish green basin better value for money? Hahaaa... Just like yesterday, we were at Castila searching for sofa and the salesperson gave a really attractive price with freebies for the set. However, only left light brown leather and The Hubby is still trying to convince me to just get it... ;p Sometimes, I think about it... Actually at the end of the day, we want to come home to a comfortable and functional place ... Maybe just don't be too 执着 over aesthetics bah...

Yoz bro, You've got mail! Still groggy from waking up early ah? I no brick wall leh...

Mangoo, your floor is cement screed ah? Swee leh! As for the bookshelves, are they wood? hmm... I always advocate keeping the original wood colour and let them slowly age... And your scenery is nice! Can sit one corner and just watch the clouds pass by...

Blow Wind Blow Meanwhile, the aircon was also set up over the weekend. Looks neat and tidy! The aircon was installed by Mr. K's cousin. We were contemplating between an inverter and a non-inverter system as well as if to have 1 or 2 compressors. Mr. K's cousin, Xiao Di, was very patient in explaining the pros and cons to us. And we finally selected 2 compressors, 24k for living room and 28k for the 3 bedrooms. The blowers in the rooms are 9k each and 24k in living room. A small point to note if you are still sourcing for aircon... (Not that I know a lot lah... But from what Xiao Di explained to me ). Some sellers advertise really low prices for their aircon package as they match compressors which are unable to meet the capacity of all the blowers. For example, 18k compressor with 3 x 9k blowers is a mismatch as the compressor is unable to cool all the 3 rooms sufficiently and effectively simultaneously. However, if only 1 or 2 outta the 3 rooms turn on the aircon at the same time, then this combination of compressor and blower is more cost effective for the user. Also, I heard that R22 refrigerants maybe phrased out soon... So no non-inverter systems... Was reading one fellow blogger's tblog about aircon and thought it's really informative. in fact, i recall he did research for almost every single thing that he did in his home. impressed! But somehow can't recall the blogger's name... Wish I had done just as much homework...

Delicated to Shiro's Missy You know who you are... MBR Toilet Common Toilet Mirrors, accessories, taps, basins all up in the MBR and common toilets. Still loving the long long basin in the former and the froggy in the latter. But I also realize a lot of cleaning to be done... Faintz.... Remembered to use trigo ratios (recall recall... TOA CAH SOH.... Rings a bell?) to check the flow of water from the tap to basin for MBR but forgot to do the same for the one at common toilet. The flow of water from this tap is a little too near to the basin back....

Sofa, so far The Hubby wants a lush sofa (read: bulky chunky leather sofa with lumba support) which he can lie down and slouch on. For me, I want it to be... Just PERFECT. Hahaa.. I want pencil legs coz that's how I envisioned my home when I started with the designing. I wanted furnitures like those I saw at A Thousand Tales couple of years back. (Btw, A Thousand Tales is not at Haji Lane anymore. Anyone knows where it is now?) I tried ordering this sofa together with an armchair and dining set from Hawaii50 from Bangkok quite sometime back but the shipping is really a killer. So, I dropped the idea. The Hubby insisted on having a sofa which he can lay his old bones on comfortably, not just aesthetically pleasing. In fact, I think for him, aesthetics comes way after comfort and price. Hahahaa... As mentioned earlier, I fell in love with a sofa at Lorgan's but its dimension is not quite right. Besides, THe Hubby thinks its not comfortable (again). I also saw this at Room of Woods but it's already sold!!! ROW is also clearing their stuff... Heard from the couple that they are not bringing in any more new items and they are just clearing the current stock now. They have not found a new place to operate yet. Walk walk around and short-listed a few sofas... But they are just a little short of what I want or what The Hubby wants... These are a couple that We short listed.... Love the lines at the back of the seat. It can be custom made to high back too.... Only problem is, it's fabric and The Hubby wants leather! The Hubby likes this kind... Too chunky for me... But really quite comfortable! Hhahahaaa.... While browsing just now, i saw this... Going to check this out tomorrow! Pray that it's leather and high back (obviously NOT!) with wooden legs!

Can't seem to multiquote on my ipad... Sorry for the late reply to folks who asked for the quotation but I think it's not appropriate for me to release the full breakdown. However, I have PM'd each of you on the total reno cost and also Mr. K's contacts (if you want it). What you see on this tblog are the list of items that I have done... So if you have queries on specific items, I'll be more than glad to answer ya...

Hey gal! Paisley for the very late reply... Busy busy these few days zipping around looking for furniture... Went to Koda, Commune, HN, Courts, Room of Woods, Tan Boon Liat Building (wah... Must say Pomelo totally stunned us... 1 armchair was $4000++ ), almost whole of Sungei Kadut... And here comes the best part... WE BOUGHT NOTHING! :bangwall: :bangwall: Hahahhaaa... Anyway, here's how the inside of the wardrobe look... Hmm... I think the left side has 2 parts but the doors are whole pieces... Hmm... Maybe the workers carried up the stairs for the 4 doors? Seriously, this carpentry team is super impressive lah.... Doesn't make noise and do their work swee swee....

Yeah... Love the pencil legs with metal caps... But it's a no-go from The Hubby... Was so excited when I saw a sofa with pencil legs and metal caps at Lorgan's but too small le... Still looking for the perfect sofa that meets both The Hubby and my wish lists. (But seriously think difficult lah... )

Lauer, I went Robinsons at Center Point today and couldn't find the cleaner you recommended. I asked the staff too but also told no such thing. Any idea where it's usually placed?

Arh... Was chatting with my brother over dinner and we discussed about green walls in HDB flats. Hmmm... He says difficult to maintain coz need special lights on 24-7 and lotsa knowledge on the nature of different plants... Maybe reading up on the plants used will help?

When Industrial Meets Mid Century Mod

I think not necessary to change the hob. However, hob and hood usually come in package that you can get at a better deal. So, if you change the hood, might as well get the hob changed too... So that both looks new. Alternatively, you can just replace the filter in the hood. For sofa, I would be thinking of something less than 2k... Best if under 1.5k... So that I have every reason change every 3-4 years... Hee.... -
Arh... I cant imagine being a totally black room too.... but maybe coz he think with the gold accessories, black will bring them out most? breathe breathe.... As long as not done, then can change de.... Looking forward to see your reno pics!

Hey hey.... Thank you for the compliments... Ü I think for contractors they quote some items cheaper and some more ex to strike a balance. I also realize that it's almost impossible to compare item by item just by the cost as we do not know the materials used. most important is to find a contractor who is trustworthy and truthful. Else, the quotation maybe low at the start and then kept adding up coz of "upgrades". Fish head, all the hinges and runners in the kitchen are Blum... But I did not count how many leh.... Atomy, you've got mail! lawrenceke, I do not keep a cost chart leh.... Too lazy and busy with the actual works and kids... Will PM each of you when I finally got my list of items done ya... Have fun renovating your home! ÜÜÜ

Hmmm... The Hubby will need a whole lot of convincing lor! Sometimes, I just buy first then tell him later so he doesn't have a choice! Wahhahaa... This is the turquoise piece. New Old Stock! You can go on Facebook and search for The Vintage Hobby. Very nice vintage items and the lady takes pride in her stuff... Yawns....

Boring Post Tired liao.... Long day today and another long day tomorrow... Going to shop for furnitures! Heehee.... Wardrobes in the boys' rooms I asked for 4 hanging bars coz little kids' clothes are so small, it's wasteful to have just 2 bars. The 2nd and last bars can be removed when they grow up. (which reminds me.... Arh... Another 10 years before that happens... not sure if I want that to pass by quickly... They are so cute now... ) Wardrobes in our room This conceals the aircon window and pipes.... There 's a full length mirror on the 3rd door too... Ü Another wardrobe at the door which I did not take pics of. The Hubby commented that the whole place looks like a forest.... Hahaha... I think everyday go back to his army days is not too bad bah! The mirrors in the toilets are also up... Super love the look... Post up later ya....

Wood Blocks Lotsa wood blocks coming! Watch your way!! Closed A missing FAN! Called Emily to check on the status of my Haiku fan and she said not available till next Jan! arh.... Should have taken up the white Haiku when she offered earlier at the old price!! Any other brand of fans to recommend? Open So massive, it needs lotsa accessories later! Planning to grow some plants inside some vintage jars that I got and put on the shelves. The TV and audio system will be sitting on the shelves. Ah Soon (one of the carpenters. He's very humble, talks gently and always ready to give suggestions. ) discussed extensively with me on the wiring methods and highly recommended me to put the TV wire point on the back board. He also added 2 other wire points to me at the 1/8 and 7/8 parts of the shelf when he knew the audio system isn't mounted. The wires from the speakers will run down to these 2 points and up the point on the back board to be connected to the TV. Less visible wires running around the top... Very neat and good workmanship, I think... The Other Side Initially, I planned for the pendant lights to be parallel to the sliding door but... Arh! I can just imagine my boys running out from their rooms and knocking themselves on the dining chairs... So... Not very aesthetically pleasing but will do bah... Mr. k is going to do something about the drop of the lights coz the electrician got it too short le,.. Computer Table Yeah! Can watch TV and do work simultaneously! Corridor Need to remind myself to paint that bomb shelter cover....
