  1. I hardly login to renotalk nowadays ever since i completed my renovation. However, i took the trouble to login here to spread good services of an electrician. I got the contact of an electrician Keong (9383xxxx) from one of the posts here.. What i like about this electrician: 1. Cheerful and positive attitude. 2. Very reasonable and good price - i enquired about 5 electricians for installing ceiling fan and replace a light fixture. He is the cheapest among them. 3. Quick clean job. They came in a pax of 3. Fast hand fast leg. 4. He is not calculative. He installed a kitchen light fixture (provided by me), but found that the it was faulty. The solder joint gave way. He attempted to fix it, but in vain. I quickly rushed to the nearby shop and got another light fixture. Size different. He had to dismantle the newly installed one, drill holes and installed a new one again, but still, he charged me for the price which had agreed earlier, which is $15. At the end of the job, he charged me $130 in total (extending existing wiring and installing ceiling fan with fan hook, installing a new 13amp power point, installing a new light fixture). I gave him $150 and asked him to keep the change. Good services deserved more and i hope this will encourage them to keep up the good services. The only drawback is that there's some delay. He promised to come around 10am but only turned up at about 1pm. Nonetheless, he did bother to call me and inform me about his late arrival.

  12. alamak... looking at your comments, i felt that i'm so fortunate that my ID din give me all these problems. I can understand your "pek cek" ness when you have to worry about this worry about that.. Initially i also like you, afraid the ID din coordinate well. After 1.5 months of reno, so far so good. And now i already close both eyes, let her handle everything. Getting an ID suppose to relieve your burden, not to increase. Anyway wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and have a smooth reno journey ahead!
  13. Just to share my experience with the ID that we are engaging. It's been almost 8 weeks since the date of renovation. So far everything has been progressing smoothly. I'd say the ID is managing the entire project pretty well. No major hiccups. Good coordination works. Most importantly, she wont give any empty promises. Wont give you false hope. Slight delay in the renovation works, which i do expect during year end. But i can see she has been pushing very hard to make things move, which i do appreciate. The entire renovation works shall complete in a week or 2.. Will provide further updates by then
  14. if not, declare at the red lane and pay 7% for the GST.

  18. that's the most important consideration. unless your house dun hv kids, very quiet, no people. Otherwise you have to prevent the "sound" from inside the room to spread out when you are happy'ing, and also to block all the noises from outside when you are resting.
  19. i'd go for solid doors for soundproofing reasons.
  20. i heard from my friends, u often got attracted by their incredibly low priced items, but the furniture quality is sucks :S
  21. Bigheadowner, if i were you, i will let the existing contractor to do up to the value that you have paid for. If you are paying 50%, most likely only involve the masonry works. Then i will get another ID/contractor to continue with the rest of the works... carpentry, painting etc..
  22. looking at your guys remarks, i felt so sorry for your bad encounters. I'm considered fortunate as my ID hasnt given me any headaches at this moment. In fact she has been helping us to load off our burden. I got my house keys on 25 Oct and the same day, the hacking permit (for floor and wall tiles) was submitted and approved. Next day hacking works started. For hacking of partition walls, the permit takes about 1 week to be approved by HDB.
