  1. So sorry to hear what you have been through. You should report the harassment to neighborhood police, Paste the report outside your door. Report to CASE at the same time. Unlikely you can get back any money or even expect them to finish your reno. Stomping could shame him but then again, it probably wont do any good to you either.
  2. useless unless you have extra space.
  3. I'm not sure, Autocad sounds more for engineering. But when i saw my 3D design, i was blown away. It has code for the tile, kitchen ware and even wallpaper we selected!
  4. Thanks. So we can buy direct through its website? That's great news!!
  5. Hi, care to share how much you pay for the Pura Vida mixer tap? i shotlisted this range for my toilets but has to give up due to its pricing here.
  6. you can buy them in many places including big shops like audio house, courts or just pay a trip to IMM with many shops selling. It all depends on your budget and requirement. For heavy cooking, try find one with high power suction hood. As for hob, depends on the number of burners you need, get those with cast iron ring unless you are looking for induction hob. For me, i prefer glass top for easy cleaning. Some brands will bundle Hood/Hob and even Oven as package buy. Do check them out.
  7. ID fees are just another way for them to charge you extra. Almost every single item listed in their quote are already profitable to them. That is why, i will not select those who try to pull a quick one from customer. For those who charge nominal fee for 3D rendering, fine. But i have come across a few firm that charge $3K+ for 3D and so call professional advise and co-ordination works, WTF! Final advise, get a few quote unless you know the ID very well or is very highly recommended.
  8. yes, be careful when selecting CCTV installer. As most company sub contract the installation job out, they are not fully responsible if things screwed up. Few area to take note: * does the company have full time installer? * for conceal job, better ask for photos and detail planning how they will hack and patch up. A lousy job could cost you dearly in future (like wall crack, poor planning and unnecessary hacking, etc) * Read the machine spec clearly. Some will try to promote old cameras. Do invest in a good recorder, preferably one that permit pan-tilt function. (some machine does but dealer simply turn it off and sell it as a adds-on). * Ask exactly where and how the lines will be laid? Have that written down. * last but not least, make sure that the software is compatible with your router or broadband (yes, mine did not work well with Singnet only!) Also, ask about software support. They could sell you cheap but make you pay each trip you call them.
  9. Don't buy Ikea table for heavy loading. Their boards not that solid. try V.Hive of Star Furniture, their stuffs are cheap too. I still think your budget can work provided you tell your ID or contractor upfront. also, narrow your requirement to just the neccesity. Some job can DIY (like painting) or buy later (like furniture, tv consol) Anyway, what does new BTO flat comes with? Sounds like just need some electrical works, ceiling and carpentry for wardrobe.
  10. sounds like only simple carpentry required. I think achievable. Just shortlist a few ID and go meet them. Good luck!
  11. If you remember the olden days window film does shrink under hot temp. I suspect it has to do with the material used. These days, even off the shelf window films are thicker and of better quality. The only trick is to do a no-bubble and seamless finishing at edges.
  12. I agree. Meetign and going through each ID can be a tiring event. You should briefly know what you want and which type of design you like. This you can refer magazines for ideas, take photos to show your ID. Don't get despair otherwise you may end up with a wrong hand. Some ID firm engage young and inexperience ID. They can draw you the most impressive sketches but when you ask them some details flow of works, they may fumble. That you need to be careful. many hiccup and screw-up are due to inexperience of these ID. This is also the reason why experience ID cost more and some time dont even have time for your project.
  13. The safest way is through friends' recommendation. From there, you can know its workmanship and attitude of the ID. But do bear in mind each ID may have different sets of workers for various job. Otherwise, you have to do your homework by shortlisting and meeting each ID to have a feel and idea of cost and design. If cost is your major concern, just make sure you stick to the amount and degree of renovation. as you go along, there are VO that may shoot up from your budget. Trust me, most of this VO will be too tempting to forgo. Oh, don't forget to factor in cost for electrical, furniture, lightings, mover, sanitary wares, air-con, etc. They could adds up to quite a sum. For me, i shortlisted 2 through recommendation and 1 from this forum. End up using the one through this forum. So far so good. 1/3 and still in progress.
  14. Using Dyson for marble and ceramic flooring. Delphin on parquet ad mainly beddings. Wonder anyone know the difference between Delphin and Robovac (or something like that)? Heard the sales guy saying many negative stuff about this competitor.
