  1. Hi. We bought the same 3-seater sofa. The Tusk TV console really look nice. We didn't buy it but we got the Tusk Dining table instead. Did they offer you any discount? I realized that the price of some of their furniture had gone up since we first ordered our items in March.
  2. Of TB hits and misses Some of our recent buys from TB ... 1) Fartech flip clock. It flips very quietly such that I have not seen it flip before ... 2) A Newgate Clock. It didn't survive the journey. Arrived with a broken glass panel and part of the middle stem chipped off. TB seller said that we should have informed them of oversea shipment so they could put in more padding. Decided to buy a discounted one from the same seller instead of sending it back for repairs. 3) Wooden letters and wood-crafted toys. Us embracing some of the Zakka spirit.
  3. Decal-theraphy I scoured TB for decals but could only find the ones I really like on etsy. It took us a few hours to put the jungle themed decal up in our daughters' room, but the process was fun and interesting, just like painting an art piece and seeing it slowly coming to life. And here is the other one on the kitchen-service balcony door.
  4. Here are some pics that I took over the weekend ... 1) Our Dining Area. We have two more chairs to go before we complete the set. Currently we have two from Commune, two white plastic Eames DSW replica from Lush, and two old ones from IKEA. The bookshelves is already looking messy. 2) The antique Iona fan now sits on the white IKEA Ingolf stool. The butcher block table we ordered from Comfort Furniture will be coming in next month. 3) The blue stools we bought from Comfort Furniture. 4) The Tom Dix lights casts an orange hue over the Kitchen island counter. 5) The living area. Since moving in we have added an armchair and carpet from IKEA, and a beanbag. The rest of the mess are courtesy of our two little ones.
  5. Whoa, almost 3 weeks since my last post. In this time, we have moved in and been living in our new place for 2 weeks now. The chore of packing and unpacking has consumed much of our energy and time. Up till now there are still a few boxes still unpacked, stuff still without a proper place and items that still need assembly (read : ikea). On the bright side, we are loving our new place - the bigger space, the look of our place, everything new and spotless (while it last), the neighborhood, etc. In terms of reno, we are quite please with the final results. There was and are still are rectification to be carried out, but at least our ID is still helping us to tie all loose ends. I believe my blog at least deserves some proper 'After' pics so I will be dusting my trusted DSLR and take some shots this weekend. Meanwhile here are some phone pics of my place after everyone else has gone to bed ...
  6. Hi. It is a manual system. Got to pull the string that works the gears. Slower than a pulley system but safer.
  7. Thanks. Black, white and dark brown seems to be the overiding theme around the house. We will have to infuse some pops of color next.
  8. Congrats! Hopefully the next chapter will be less drama and more enjoyment So when are you starting the renovations?
  9. Everything looks good. Take your time in furnishing and decorating your place (so you will continue to stay active in RT..). Especially love the look of your kitchen. The modern sleek lines makes it look like something out of a magazine or some hip bar/coffee joint.
  10. We are on the final lap of our reno journey. This is the final week of renovations, so by hook or by crook, everything needs to be in place before we move in next week. On Monday, we took leave to receive some of our furniture and to oversee some installations. Here are some of photos that I took around the house. View from the foyer. Blinds are mostly up, less two which holding brackets had to be shortened. Our brown leather 3-seater from Commune. Our White Aluminium Louvre Bi-fold bathroom door The Ezziliving Lift 4 Laundry System installed We bought the LED strips from TB and got the electrician to install them across the kitchen cabinets.
  11. Thanks! Now that you are done with the reno, hope you are having fun filling up the house.
  12. Meanwhile the wardrobe assembler still toils on the upper floor. The wardrobes are almost completed. Only minor works left like making door handles, relaying some laminates, and fixing the doors for the internal cabinets. Guestroom Wardrobe. With vertical brown grooves just like the shoe cabinet. Children's Wardrobe. Hmmm... the white laminates look too inviting... the girls might start drawing on them. And we got our first bed delivery. The beds are from Kids Haven. They are slightly elevated, so the girls get to climb up a short flight of stairs to get on their beds. This will make bedtime so much more interesting for them (we really hope so as we are trying to get them to share a room for the first time). Originally we were toying with ideas of building a platform or getting the Hemnes Day Beds from Ikea, but when we saw a pic of these beds on Kids Haven's website, we just knew we had to take a look at the beds. A visit to the home showroom reinforced our decision to get them.
  13. Our Ikea-inspired kitchen cabinets are finally up! You may not them see clearly in this pic, but there are actually vertical grooves on the cabinet front panels, and the panels are all spray painted (though that makes it more susceptible to knocks and scratches). The black handles and knobs are authentic Ikea, and the hinges and drawer systems are from Blum (part intentional and part unintentional on the IDs part). The kitchen head (read : wife) has also requested for some storage add-ons to improve overall effectiveness of the cabinets. Storage ideas ... Corner Storage System from Excel Stainless Steel Rack from Song Cho Corner shelves using 135 deg hinges There is also a pull-out basket (from Hafele) below the hob. Will take a pic of that next time. The quartz top will come in next week.
  14. Hi belysa57, The Tom Dix and Bubble Chandelier are from Taobao. If I recall correctly each set was selling at less than S$70 (excl shipping to S'pore). The other lamps (Vintage $53, Sphere $90) are bought from the lighting shops along Jln Besar.
  15. Nice lights! Everybody who comes to your place now can't help but stare at them.
  16. Thanks. Yes, that was how the tiler did mine. No further protective layer after filling up the grout. If cracks are appearing too soon, maybe some other works are stressing the craft brick walls. You can ask your contractor to cover the crack lines before your reno is up.
  17. Yes, you're right. The wooden panels are heavier, and being floor-to-ceiling, you need to use some strength to slide it open, especially the MBR panels ones with mirrors.
  18. Thanks! Our ID quoted us $950 for that customized iron wrought gate. The window grilles are not getting the same treatment. They are just plain white squares. Didn't dare to ask for a quote for similar patterned grilles as our total reno quote was already above our original budget.
  19. We got our gate delivered on Monday. We wanted something retro and chanced upon this design in one of the homes featured on asiaone. So our ID got the window contractor to fabricate this. According to contractor, the ovals are a not so common this days, so you cannot just buy the pre-fab shapes and weld them together like in the past. More work for him but we are liking the end result. Very retro, in fact some of the units in our neighborhood are still sporting some of this old design window grilles. In other news, the carpenter team got the MBR wardrobe assembled today and the electrician also fixed up the LEDs on the inside. We are doing sliding doors for all the built-in wardrobes. Decided not to go with the standard sliding system because we did not want to see the aluminum frame. So instead we just got the carpenter to put wood panels on sliding tracks. More carpentry to come ...
  20. This is what happens when the contractor does not test out their own products .... our guests will be in for a fright. pic courtesy of our ID who got her hubby to model the opacity of the glass door. she will get the contractor to change the glass.
  21. Go set-up a facebook page for your Tiffany blue kitchen and we will all go 'Like' it. It is faster this way, else your next candle light dinner will be next Valentine
  22. Hi melony, if you have an agent who is not serving you right, get him/her replaced immediately. Not worth paying 2% for one if you have to find your own buyer. If you decide to save on the 2% and serve yourself, your best chance of finding a buyer is thru' the newspaper or property guru (only agts can advertise). I chosed this route when selling my own unit.
  23. Hi bleucheeze, here is a pic of my E27 track lights from TB. Very limited designs there cause everybody is selling LED. I am using the lights to illuminate the whole place and not for accent lighting. Anyway the holders happen to be short and the light bulbs protrude out from them. Do share a photo of your lights when you receive them.
