  1. Honestly i didn't consider if it voids waterproofing. But i don't think so. The sewage pipe extends up from the floor. The thing is just mounted on top. I just asked Mr. B. He said no, changing it is fine. The photos i showed of the toilet is the clayton WC. from my searching on the web, i think it's clayton lyra series. Heh, i feel vindicated. someone else just took a poop in the toilet and said it took 2 flushes to remove the stool! So it just sucks ... I took 2 tries to flush down toilet paper that day even though the water coming out was not like reduced for water efficiency.
  2. Mr K quote is roughly same as most ID. But u can see from the blogs why he's popular. I think it's best to meet the man himself before deciding. If u can "click" well with him, then u can consider him. U can consider him a top tier contractor bah haha 3d drawings. Honestly speaking if u want to hire Mr K, u should be fairly familiar with what u want and have a good mental picture of what u want. To me, 3d drawings are hardly useful since most of us RTers have seen enough photos and layouts to be able to mentally picture most things. Laminate colors also may not come off accurately though it maybe helpful for some people.
  3. Shower curb with tiles done up. False ceiling panels Color schemes for Bedroom 3 Color scheme for MBR Laminate choices were a compromise between me and missus. Missus likes metallic and industrial. I like woody and natural. So our choices are something in between!
  4. Update, here are some pictures from my site visit yesterday. Met the tiler uncle who's doing the tiles... Not sure if posted before. This is the tile selection for the wall of my kitchen (exposed areas). Rebuilding of the hacked wall for tempered glass half wall + glass door Opposite side of above wall Concrete sink support with sink up Service yard base for washing machine.
  5. Ok update about WC Went down on friday to check if the water does splash out. Yes it does. I dunno if a seat could have prevented it (blocking the water from spraying out) but ultimately i don't really want to know Drove long way down to geylang Universal Union and went to look at WC. go there really gablar, all look and seem the same. Sales girl recommended Macclaire with geberit inside (lol with a Intel inside lookalike sticker). Seeing no way to differentiate the WCs. Finally chose to go for the macclaire x 2 (one of most popular models according to salesgirl). Got the bigger one since it flushes with more water (don't really want to save the earth when it comes to WC ... ) Bought 2 toilet roll holders and a row of clothes hook. I liked the shops there at geylang. Universal union sells a range of products from cheaper to higher end (grohe etc). Some of the products seem quite well made compared to the other bathroom accessory shops i've been to. I don't really like going to shops where everything looks like it's found in some neighbourhood wu jing shop. Compared to Jalan Besar, i think it is a nicer place to shop.
  6. Interesting. New BTO, the ONT is near circuit board. Then most people use LAN point to the TV console area.
  7. i haven't had time to look or anything. Only place i know with both these brands being sold is Universal union. Saw on their website.
  8. Haha it's ok lah. most people can live with it. no one complained on FB page. only i fussypot.
  9. yes original one is clayton. haha but i don't see anyone changing it on the estate FB page. So only i'm the anal one
  10. macuser u using what brand now? I'm considering Johnson Suisse or the ok & cheap china-made brand Saniton (my parents and my workplace using it).
  11. Since u want to on your whole house aircon on the same time, then this config is suitable for u haha I have a system 1 for MBR. Actually BTO MBR only needs 10k BTU only. unless u want to leave ur toilet door open. or wall heated by west facing. Then a 28VA system 3 for Bedroom 2, 3 and Living room/dining (24VA). If i need to switch on living room, i won't be inside the rooms. My kid will be zzzing in MBR most of the time anyway.
  12. Anyway looking to change my WC ... I had diarrhoea when i was visiting the site earlier this week. To leave out the yucky details, I'm totally not impressed with the flushing action of the clayton WC. I felt some water splashing out as well... YUCKS!
  13. Looks good. any freebies? what's the price. looks exactly the same as 6620 externally.
  14. logically speaking. u should get a system 1 for your MBR which u use the most often. Then system 3 for the rest. Unless your MBR and your other bedroom are both going to be heavily used. instead of just the MBR.
  15. Looking for a lower end 55" LED TV from either LG/Samsung. LG is cheaper than Samsung. From LG, the lowest end model is 6200 followed by 6620. The 6200 model is too thick cos of direct LED technology. Preferred edge LED technology as it resulted in a slimmer tv. 6620 http://www.lg.com/sg/tvs/lg-55LA6620 Was at gain city buying my washer/dryer last week and saw 6620's price at $2199 with some useless free gift. Tried to shop for a better price over last few days, went to Courts, Mega Discount looking for something cheaper. MEGA was offering $2299. They had a pretty good offer for Samsung F6300 (non 3d) at $2399. So was considering it for a while. Courts pricing not even close, $2599 but with extended warranty and $200 vouchers. Finally went back to GC yesterday to buy at $2199. Ha and the newest price (supposedly due to overstock) is $1899! Bought 1st to take advantage of manhattan card cashback. Also bought a LG 3D blu ray player. GC's price was $125. but i showed them a photo of Mega's $99 offer. So they managed to match the price for me. Have to say that GC (if u do your homework) is the bigger retailer that can fulfill most of your appliances needs!
  16. lol standard 4 room BTO lah. 92-94 sqm inclusive of AC ledge.
  17. i'm not in a rush to move in. wait until everyone finish reno already. or else dam dusty and noisy.
  18. your attention to detail is staggering
  19. This is the fridge we bought. Originally had our eyes set on Mitsubishi MRF62C Stainless steel. Originally i only wanted a 51C but it's less efficient then it should be. Only 3 ticks vs 4 which more or less is the norm now. Then the 55C was somehow wider but shorter. I'm 6 feet tall. So i wanted a fridge almost as tall as me. So i just chose the 62C thinking it's exactly the same as the rest. Just before confirming the invoice, the sales rep told me that remember to remove the water from a bottom panel every month ?? He showed me how it was done. So leh cheh!Somehow it's a quirk particular to that model. Thankfully he pointed it out. He said most sales rep often don't mention it cos it's a major turnoff So he showed us the alternatives of taller fridges which suited my requirement - Hitachi which the bigger model is ugly (we originally considered it vs the mitsubishi). Aesthetics wise fail. - then LG which he said spec wise is most value for money. - Samsung more expensive so out. LG562GSH Although I'm not impressed by how the cubby holes on the door side are arranged. Why would i want to put my big 1.5L drinks up top and the small stuff down at the lower side?? It also doesn't look as nice as in the picture. The SS is more of a shiny SS while i prefer matt. But can't argue with the price in the end
  20. Bought some things over the last 3 days with Gain City and Jerome aka Zero@Renotalk. Bought washer, dryer and LG fridge from Gain City. Bosch 24360 (actually photo is that of 20360. But only difference is maximum spin speed) - extended warranty with GC Bosch dryer 74101 Bought Rinnai 2 burner glass hob and Fujioh FX900 from Jerome. Price in SG really unbeatable! Also bought a bosch oven from him. Also best price i've seen (without additional bargaining)
  21. actually i don't think ur reno is that expensive since u included the cost of furnishing and appliances.
  22. Received my in-ceiling rear speakers from amazon. Cheap speakers so don't expect much. Going to be mounted in my false ceiling. On thursday, met up with Mr B and the electricial guys to decide final electrical layout of the house. Same morning, air con guys came to do 1st trip installation of piping. Another lesson learnt. I had originally booked the GC aircon installation in June. In the invoice, not specified for 2 trips. I always assumed that AC installation was over 2 trips. But apparently it's not. Had to top up another $85 for a 2nd trip ... since not in the invoice, can't argue my way out 2 trips are required as Mr B wants to box up the trunking... AC pipe installation Downlight lighting points!
  23. very nice love the stag. early christmas feel.
  24. I'm going to buy the same downlight!
  25. lol. thought u will keep the flooring. good condition. enjoy your reno!
