Hey jaykr 1. the cost of tile is "not more than $2.80". is this reasonable? i havent decided on the tiles yet. and the contractor is supplying and installing. 2. i see. will check with contractor on this. we did ask him and he say if we are getting black top, he would recommend granite instead. coz cheaper. but we are doing it white. 3. this one i really have no idea. will have to take wat the contractor says. coz i cant tell if the wood is good or not. workmanship wise, i've seen his work in one of his projects. was ok to me. as u can see, i'm quite lost in all the reno stuff. so thanks for all the feedback. =)

Hi texas5 what i want is really the raw look (cement + brick). is it weird? As for the showcase, it's coz i have too many things to display. like figurines and toys. Have you been to those shops where pple sell their items in cubes? sth like rented cube space. that kind of "shop/warehouse" look with the showcase. The contractor doesnt provide 3d drawings leh.. so i need to have a good imagination.. (unfortunately i dun) When you say carpentry is scary... meaning the cost per sq ft? or coz we're doing too many things?

hi chiansl I see your point. there will only be 2 of us staying. but i was also initially straddling the idea.. dunno wan 1 or 2 toilets. since most of the time only 2 of us, we think 1 toilet should be sufficient. and one less toilet to wash! =X

Hullo all here's my quotation from the contractor. seems ok i guess. is it reasonable?
-
yupyup.. can send me your freight forwarder's contact pls? Maybe we can all combine if buying small items.
-
Agree with Texas5 that the craftbrick wall with ur console would be picture perfect. Nevertheless i do love your choice of look for the laundry area.
-
good luck Andy! are you doing major overhaul?
-
Agree. but where else can i place the shower area? 1. to have the toilet bowl at the other side is too near the MBR toilet door. and offensive (in terms of FS) 2. to have the vanity area there with 2 pipes sticking out... looks awful =(
-
hey cupcakes88 you home is lookin' good. so different from the initial pre reno days that cant tell it's the same hse. Well, maybe the pros can la... did you order your LED lights online? from where?

Here's the plan B. Plan A was to have a long vanity cum sink area between the 2 doors. the shower area behind the toilet bowl. Now we got to switch the sink and the shower area coz of the sickening pipes. =( any idea if this is the best positioning?
-
The plan is to convert the 2 toilets into 1. but after visiting the place, we found that the pipes are in undesirable positions =(((( thinking how to design the toilet now...

Hi guys! i'm finally back from HK.. was pretty bz with all the eating and shopping. Anyway, some updates before the picture posting. We made arrangement with the previous owner, X, abt 1 week in advance to go over for measurements. 12th Jan 2013 at 10am. booked out contractor too. on 11th Jan 9.45PM, we received a call from the agent, saying they cant make it. after negotiating, they say they try to keep to the original timing but can only confirm by 9am the next day. Of coz i wasnt surprised when there was no phone calls by 9am. we called our agent and he told us they can only make it at 4pm. well, it was too last minute for our contractor. But we still went ahead to take the photos.

Hi jeffcraze wanna ask you abt vinyl flooring. i'm thinking of doing it for my new home but heard lotsa comments. can check you u a few things? 1. is it waterproof? 2. does it feel hot during the day? heard it absorbs heat since it's rubber. 3. does it have a smell? Thanks for the help in advance!
-
Hi ladygeorgette i also wanna do vinyl tiles as my flooring for the bedrooms. Any advice from your ID?
-
I'm in a dilemma. some pple reviewed earlier that vinyl tiles give out poisonous gas/ gets hot/ cant last 5 years... is this true?
-
To me, an ID can also be a contractor. Depends on what you are looking for. a meet up with both could help u decide. most impt is the FEEL between u and the ID/contractor. he or she must know what u want and prefer. For me, i already have a general idea of what i want. and quite resistant to changes. hence no stubborn ID for me.
