My First Home :)
razzberrie replied to MsChocobanana's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB Resale Renovation & Interior Design
Hi there! Your husband sounds like a great ID and contractor... I absolutely love your house as it is cosy rather than moody even though a lot of dark colours were used. I also love the palette of natural colours. My reno is 3 yrs away but I would like his contact for future reference, if you don't mind. Thanks a lot in advance! -
I can totally imagine using more than 15L for a shower... It only takes like 15 seconds to fill a 1L bottle from a tap. Running the shower for 5 minutes would mean roughly 20L of water used...

Mei Ling Street has EMs? I stay just behind it and I don't even know

From my experience, rainbow blinds do not work that well because you still have to roll it up to get sufficient light to do most things. The translucent fabric does not let in enough light. Whereas for Venetian blinds, you can just open the shutters for a good amount of light. The act of rolling the blinds up and down too many times will decrease the lifespan of the mechanism. My rainbow blinds (Hunter Douglas) at my current home has only been installed for a couple of years and the mechanism has broken down in two of the rooms.

Good point about the 2nd floor. I completely forgot! Thanks for the reply.

Just curious, why did you choose to partition your bedroom with the study on the inside farther away from the door, rather than the bed? I would think the sleeping area is a more private place that would be nice away from the door.

Agreed. Want to see more pictures when the furniture's all unwrapped!
-
Such an adorable looking game! I hope your rectifications get resolved soon.

Thanks for the smeg pictures! Your house seriously looks gargantuan! Must be all the white and wide angle... Love your nautical hooks and balcony accordion doors! And I see you left your mum's room power box untouched (white PVC).

The banker's lamp and sofa are gorgeous! What's in your study apart from the study table? I think the sofa would go well with it.

I'm really excited to see pics of your furniture in your house! Especially your SMEG fridge in your kitchen... think it'll totally brighten the place up! Hurry and post leh...

I like your kitchen sink! Where did you get it from? Also, does the picture of the jutting out sink mean your counter is narrower than usual? Or your sink is wider than usual?

Hi! Your house is looking great! I have seen a lot of Mr K's works but was unable to get his contacts on several threads. Do you mind PM-ing me K's contact? Thank you so much!

I like the black strips, but I think you should just leave the thinnest ones directly next to the glass panels. As for the skirting, I tend to think white would look better as I've seen a few homes with wood floors and white skirting and they go well with the Scandinavian theme.

Congrats on your new home! I was actually doubting the living room would look very nice but you proved me wrong! I love your cat, it's very cute!! I have two cats too. I'm planning to construct a wall cat "tree" with integrated scratching post for my cat in my future home so I can save the floor space (only 3-room flat! ).

Anyone Has Mr K Contact?

Me too! Thanks very much! -
I agree, Bose is awesome! What brand is this sound bar?
-
I like the idea of cafe curtains! Didn't know that's what they're called. It's definitely a good idea for the study as most of the time you would want the study to be brightly lit.

Which colours did you pick for the study table laminate and decking?

Can't wait to see your awesome place! I love your buys... Very vintage!

Hi Paloma, I have been following your t-blog and I absolutely love your place! The open bookshelves feel like a bookstore, perfect for my music books. That said, if you see this, could you PM me your contractor's contact? I would love to contact him when my house is ready in a few years' time. Thanks!!
