Actually there is an ID that works together with the carpenter. She is one that does the drawings & liaising between me & the carpenter. I showed her lots of magazine inspirations and ideas. From there, she will recommend based on my requirements & budget. The drawings are done by her to ensure no mistakes or miscommunication between us.No extra $$ required.

Congrats & Welcome. Another EM owner. Wah.... Toh YI is nice area. Think your valuation & COV is quite high cos your area there got upcoming MRT downtown line right? Any ideas for a theme yet? I like your layout cos it's more squarish as compared to mine which is longish & narrow. Have fun looking thru all the EM t-blogs here. I got lots of inspirations & ideas from fellow EM owners.

Hi Summersann, Thanks. I just visited that website. Very interesting cos it's like a mix of retro cum French with modern twists. Parts of it even looks like it will fit in nicely in an Ikea mag. Nice.

I will be using Soon Seng for my house moving. There are 2 moves to be made. First, from my current house to Big Orange storage. Then 4-mths later, from Big Orange to my new home. When Ken first showed up to give me a quite, he was fast in his assessment & reassuring when I voiced my concerns to him. Thereafter, an email with a formal quote was received promptly the next day. Even when I needed to make changes to the items, a revised quote was promptly send within a day. The admin gal, Jessie, was also equally helpful. First part of the move to Big Orange was done last Saturday, 30/March. The major stuffs to be moved include: - 1 Fridge - 1 washing machine - 1 Dryer - 1 LCD 40" (I think) TV - 1 Dining Table - 62 boxes Total of 8 men showed up with 2 fully covered lorries. Everything went very smoothly. The packers were fast, efficient and polite. Not once did anyone show signs of irritation or attitude when they had to help me wrap some loose items I had forgotten. No shoes or trolleys were used in the house. All furnitures were carried out to the lift lobby, then loaded onto the trolleys. The move was completed in less then 2-hrs including the drive to Big Orange and the loading into the warehouse storage room. Most importantly, they took great care in loading my items onto their truck and no damages to my house. I will definitely recommend them to anyone and look forward to the move of my stuffs for the 2nd part later on. 2-thumbs up for their excellent service.

Lovely 3D pics. Can already imagine that your final outcome will be berry nice. Also like your choice of tiles. Especially the peranakan tiles. I'm also looking at getting the subway tiles for my kitchen. Can share where you got it & how much? Thanks. Can't wait to see more Reno & photo updates.

Love your Reno. Your house is full of character and reminds me of those arty artsy galleries. Can see all your furniture pieces are chosen with great deal of thought and passion. Not like the conventional modern or minimalist style. Nice nice.

Thanks HappyAng. Hhmm... If around that price, then I'll KIV first. Cos my carpentry is already costing loads. Though I feel this idea is superb in maximizing space usage under the stairs and will be easy to retrieve barangs.

Your Grohe rain shower is looking good. Love your idea for the little hideaway for your water heater. And the hole in wall idea for putting bath & shower items is good. Learning so much. If you don't mind, can borrow some of your ideas for my Reno? Love the staircase drawer storage too. When I saw summersann's idea, I asked my contractor and he said can do. But will be super expensive. Between $800-$1K. I scrapped the idea. Did your staircase storage cost this much?

Due to budget constraints, I have put a few other carpentry works on KIV. Though I have many many wants.... need to prioritize which is important at this juncture, and which items can be added later on. Hope I don't make the wrong decisions.

Finally the master wardrobe. Requested for L-shape and 7 doors. Both hub & me simply got too much clothes & stuffs. Just realized that my wardrobe is 13ft. Woohoo!! Ssoo happy lah!

6-door wardrobe for my 3 gals. Each of them will get 2 doors for all their clothes.

My home office will be on Level 1. I specifically requested for a 1-door Wardrobe to be included. This will 'house' all my freshly laundered clothes that are pending ironing by my bi-weekly cleaning aunty. For a family of 5, imagine the amount of uniforms & work clothes to be sorted. For the gals study room, their study table will be like this, only without the wardrobe & bookshelves. Cos I need the table length for 3 of them to be able to study at the same time.

I finally got some drawings from my ID Carpenter. Only 2D drawings cos I don't want to pay extra for 3D. To start off, this is the layout plan for my kitchen. L-shape top & bottom cabinets with corner cooker hob. Will also have a 2-door tall cabinet for my pantry. Need a big place to store my can foods, dried stuffs, snacks, tidbits and my all important - instant noodles. Doorway to kitchen is widen by hacking off the wall on the right side. Maybe I will put an island couner. See how it goes.

Hi Sherting, Sorry for late reply. Was busy moving to my mom's place over the weekend cos need to vacate my current house for legal sale completion. I got my EM for $708K valuation. COV is $60K.

I got my Fanco ceiling fan from a fellow Renotalk bro. He also installs the fan. No wobbling, no shaking. Very steady even at max speed. Somemore my fan is installed on false ceiling. So far after 1 year, the only small issue I had was a 'click click' sound. I contacted the Renotalk Bro and he came over the next day. Did a quick check and slight re-balancing of the fan. Thereafter no more sound liaoz. Yeah!! Good service and no major issues with the fan. Will definitely buy more Fanco fans from Bro once my new place is ready in 4-mths time. Your staircase lighting is really unique. Reminds me of those swimming pool effect. Hehhe. How's your moving in? It's amazing how much stuffs we can accumulate. I just shifted into my mom's place last Saturday. 98% of our stuffs went to storage warehouse. During packing, we threw away bags and bags of old clothes & stuffs. But still end up with 62 boxes. My motto is - the more old stuffs we throw away now, the less we will need to unpack later.

I'm using Miele - Dogs & Cats model. Pretty good suction and works well. Will definitely stick to Miele now.

Wow! What a dramatic transformation to your EM! Nice job. The glass walls & banister opens up the whole place beautifully. Too bad I can't adopt this style as I've got 3 kiddos under 11-yrs.
