Wow wow wow! Beautiful bedroom! Perfect mixture of colour, paintings, wooden flooring and furniture & fixture to add to a classy, elegant look! Now I'm thinking of getting those table lamps and painting. Hahahahaha!

Hey ChinSer, Welcome to RT and welcome to Toa Payoh! I've been a Toa Payoh citizen for as long as I have been breathing and you have certainly chosen the right neighbourhood to set up your home! Lots of great food awaits you! Ha! Anyway good luck to your reno!

OMG! Your aircon technician say exactly the same thing to me! He also told me that the trunking in the master bedroom was done in that way so as to ensure there will be minimal servicing, to reduce sweating of the pipelines and reduce rusting of components in the compressor. Well, I'm a noob in this area, so I agreed to his way without much thoughts, that's why my air-con trunking in MBR also very fugly. But I have chosen to live with it so as not to further delay my renovation progress.
-
Yo bro! So how's the discussion between you, the ID and the air-con technician? Are they gonna re-route the trunkings?

Hey MHB, I'm not sure about Peng Giap's window grilles but I have chosen this popular grilles specialist in the forum. His name is Andy. Maybe you can approach him for a second opinion. His quote is not expensive and he's a friendly dude. You can refer to this thread for his services (http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/49500-home-aluminium-metal-works/page-4). Happy reno journey!

Yeah you are right! Even when there's defects or unsatisfactory area in the house after the renovation, it is still your comfortable house afterall. In addition, if you look back at how much you all gone through to get this renovation done up, you will love your house a little more because time & effort have been sacrificed. For mine, even if it's not done perfectly, it will always be my perfect home in my eyes. Ha! Oh awesome! Looking forward to photos! Woohoo! Have a great great long weekend!

Wow! How much is the damage from this side table? It looks ATAS!

Hey dreamzgal, Don't mention it. This blog is free to be used by anyone. It will be a pity to leave it in one corner. Anyway I'm not posting any updates recently, so I'm grateful that you guys/girls can use this space to share ideas or provide any feedbacks to any queries. Hmmm... It seems that majority of you are in favour of the normal kitchen faucet. I'm not sure if mine is a normal or a pull-out one, or maybe a hybrid like how I see it. However, I'm also giving my vote to a normal kitchen faucet. I have visited showroom with the pull-out kitchen faucet and like what you had mentioned, those tap hose will have difficulty retracting back after a period of extended usage, therefore I opt not to have a single pull-out kitchen faucet but instead go for this hybrid model which another forum user (lawrenceke) is also using. Not sure about the working condition. I will advise again after it's being installed on my sink.

This is totally accurate! I'm a staunch believer of the reward system, rather than the punishment system, so most likely I will buy snacks, food, drinks etc for the workers for their good performance on my house renovation, rather than scold or scream at them for any mistakes. Even when there's errors, I will talk to them politely because I also believe that regardless of status, if you want others to respect you, you must learn to respect others first.
-
Don't say that! Your English is good and that you must have learnt a lot during the coordination work, so starting a T-blog to share your experiences will be beneficial to reno-newbies. Haha! Anyway you are right, majority of the IDs will suggest the same design unless the homeowner have different taste. If I have experience on renovating a house, I wouldn't have approached any of the IDs because I can certainly do a better job at coordinating than them. However, my lack of experience was really a major concern, so I have no choice but to pay the "premium" for their services. This is why I totally respected your decision to ditch the idea of an ID and liaise with all the sub-contractors yourself. You should consider opening a renovating firm in the future, I will be your employee. Hahaha! Yeah! Looking forward to your photos!
-
Hahaha! Thanks for the offer, I'm pretty broke right now. I guess I will buy drinks for those workers when I see them instead. LOL!

Wow! I should have done the same as you but I have no idea how to get everything string up in the first place. However if you ask me now, I can arrange everything from the head to the tail. Hahaha! Good to know that everything is going smoothly for you. Perhaps time to start a T-blog to share your experience and also some photos? If you teach the newbies how to coordinate the renovation work on your T-blog, I guess up to 40% of the IDs in Singapore will have an early retirement. Hahahahaha!

OMG! Sound like 3D Innovative is really bad at time management of projects! I have just given my ID a call and sarcastically told him that his business is doing so big till he's not replying to my SMS or picking up my calls. Talked to him for over 20+mins to highlight to him the outstanding work and the renovation schedule (I'm going to bill him for the personal assistance fee at the end of the renovation). He reassure me that the renovation will delay maximum one week and will be okay between 2nd or 3rd week of June. We'll wait and see about that.

OMG! I had just purchased four 3ft T5 tube for my bathrooms under the recommendation from my ID. If it turns out like your first set-up, I will . Perhaps I will go invest in some LED strips too. How much did you pay for your roll of 5m of 5050 SMD LED strip? -
Haha! Thanks jus4fun! I just happen to bump into this T-blog and after the first few posts where he indicate 3D Innovative Design as his ID, I got excited and immediately ask him about his ID name and renovation progress. Guess the renovation must be completed by now (I doubt 3D will take more than 1.5 months for renovation). Ha!

Journey Home
Bengologist replied to mishmish's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - Condo Interior Design and Landed Renovation
Mishmish, you are right! Those chairs are ridiculously expensive at 100+ and 200+. Gone were the days when we can fish out a $50 note to buy these furnitures and still have spare change left for a meal and take a cab back home. Maybe you can try those furniture shops in older estates such as Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio or Bedok to see if they carry those wooden chairs you are looking for. Good luck!- 337 replies

Wow! You are also using 3D Innovative! Who's your ID? How's the renovation so far? My renovation is kinda slow & my ID is not very responsive. Anyway good luck to your reno!
-
Well, that's a good and bad thing depending on how you see it. The bad thing is that you can't have what you want in mind. The good thing(S) are that you save money and your renovation progress is fast! My renovation is wayyyyy behind schedule, so I'm still able to add new items into the renovation plan ( + = Don't know to laugh or cry). Hahahaha!

Congrats! Great to see all the lights you order from Taobao arrive safely into your hands! I'm eagerly waiting for mine to be installed by the renovators. Anyway despite the fact that they say your lightings are no frills designs, I find them very attractive! Hope to see more pics from you once they are installed!

I doubt they are opened on Vesak Day, you can call them to find out (Poh Joo: 6292-3388; Royal Franco: 6299-0453). If I'm not wrong, Royal Franco is open Monday-Friday till 8.30pm & Saturday-Sunday till 6.30pm. Anyway better call to find out.

Bengologist replied to lawrenceke's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB BTO Interior Design and Renovation
Hey lawrenceke! Congrats on getting your keys back and freed by the "ID-sharks" who "locked" your house on the first day of the renovation! That's a creative display of your wedding & overseas photos! Good job! I bet your wife will love you even more for your creativity! -
Yeah, thanks for the clarification. I have mentioned it to my ID that the chandelier I have purchased might be about 8 to 9 kg, so it must be connected to the real ceiling, perhaps further reinforced by the metal support in the false ceiling. If they connect it to the false ceiling instead, then I guess i'm gone. It will be a matter of time before the whole thing will collapse on anyone and/or the glass dining table. I will highlight that again to my ID. Thanks dude!

OMG! I'm not an expert here but I thought there should be screws tightening the condenser bracket? If it's left hanging like that, it might break in the long run, which will make the condenser a potential killer litter. I'm just writing this based on my gut feeling, maybe some experts can enlighten you on this instead. And OMG OMG OMG! Your air con trunking is worse than mine, at least on the last photo. Your ID isn't around to discuss with the air-con technician during the installation? Mine wasn't around, therefore the trunking was badly done in the master bedroom.
-
Hey lawrenceke! Thanks a million for the pictures and instructions! I'm gonna need this when I try to fix it this Friday. How heavy is your chandelier? Your false ceiling able to support the weight?
