Thanks Mrs Lee! Hubby & I are doing our masters in Aussie.. Not so bad. Cannot imagine if we are studying in the states or UK. Then we will really faint Thanks Songz. Yup I'm sure my mum will do a good job in supervising Actually now that I think again, I shouldn't have doubted my mum to do a good job.. Feel bad now. Thank you neighbour! For my dream home.. Worth it to fly around hehe. It's such an exciting thing that I actually couldn't bear to let someone else collect the keys on my behalf! But reno bo bian got to get my mum to supervise for me.. Yup yup, hope to see u during the week I'm back too

Happy Updates! Key collection date is confirmed on 15 April! Just one more week to go! The arranging and re-arranging of schedule is starting to take its toll on me mentally due to all the uncertainties involved.... i.e., flight back is dependent on key collection date, checking of defects is dependent on auspicious house opening date & all these are dependent on whether school has presentations, quizzes etc. But luckily managed to find a window one week period where I can have minimal impact on school schedule and fly back SG to collect keys + settle house feng shui audit + buy my bathroom accessories + lights + any other reno required items before flying back to studies. If this window period passed by with no news from HDB, it will mean key collection in July liao. so... *heng ah!* I guess no taobao for me unless it's non reno-related items.. timing doesn't work out so its most likely only insect screen + other deco stuff from TB. Also... against all the experienced renotalkers suggestion, hubby and I will not be able to be on-site to supervise the reno. Can only rely mostly on whatsapp + Skype for updates from my ID. Crossing my fingers & toes that nothing major will occur that requires us to rush back to salvage. A consolation though, my mom will be helping to supervise the reno. She is super particular for her own house when it comes to reno. I hope she is equally particular for my reno as well. Oh man.. what will I do without my mum! Haha. Ok over dramatic. But YAY! it's finally my turn to share the actual reno journey!

Haha, yes i can vouch for that. Did some holiday job as "housekeeping". It's definitely a pain to clean..

like the idea of the bench in the shower area! reminds me to steam bath / sauna...

Just my view.. I think to be safe and prevent the spread, better to take out the entire kitchen cabinet asap.. the concern is if it spreads to the carpentry to other parts of the house accidentally (i.e, if we touch or it latch onto our clothing's and get transferred to other wooden furnitures around the house). Especially since you've spent to do up the new wardrobes and bought wooden furnitures.. Have gotten termites infestation in my house before, it must really be nipped at the bud before it spreads. We took no chance and threw our entire bed frame away once we found out. Then rentokil was called in immediately =x

Oh dear, hope your ID will hasten the process and get the carpenter to do it properly the 2nd time round! Last lap, jiayou jiayou!

Good suggestion for those who are re-doing the tiles Mine is under the HDB OCS for new BTOs and will not be changing my tiles.. Got to stick with the other options of hiding the trunking

Thanks!

My Anyhow Reno, Anyhow Theme But No Anyhow Budget Reno
guojiawen replied to Vct's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Thanks, I think I have a neighbour offering to do it (for a fee of course). An extract of what he fb msg-ed me: 3 main services; phone to lan pt conversion, phone patch and home wifi setup 1) phone to lan conversion gives u direct or wired connection to ur desktop, internet tv or other network device in bedroom. at same time, u can place extra router to provide full wifi coverage 2) phone patch allows u to put cordless phone near tv console in living room if digital home line is used. without phone patch, u might need to put cordless phone in utility cabinet So if I'm not mistaken, for new BTO, like what BH72 suggested, we don't need to lay the cabling, and can directly do phone to LAN point conversion in all bedrooms + living room? Then we will have the data point where we need them? P.s Kstoh, thanks for the comprehensive sharing and making it basic for understanding. I'm sold by the reasons you gave.. If new BTO can just do the conversion without laying cables, I think I will just do it in case we need it for the future. -
Thanks Seen alot of great reviews about Master Chang, think will go ahead with him.. More important is that he is accurate and can deliver the results. I guess just have to follow his advice wherever possible..
-
Haha actually more for the convenience.. I will still go for my white / silver / blue theme!
-
Ah okay.. seems like it is his "signature" suggestion... I should be engaging Master Chang as my original FSM fell under the "bad FSM" listing. Thanks for the earlier sharing with me. Hope the recommendations won't be too drastic!

Haha got the point. Very hard to catch up with technologies nowadays! Yup thinking of placing it at my TV console area.. -
Do they sell them in a set? If they do I won't mind getting it as one =p

My Anyhow Reno, Anyhow Theme But No Anyhow Budget Reno

Thanks, think I have the correct understanding then For the wifi router blockage, if we are not particular about the speed, using the wi-fi range extender can help? -
Few days never log on, doing some catch up on the "concealed" wiring issue So for the new electrical points to be pulled, they will all be "exposed" and must be covered using something like the below "trunking"? Then we will "conceal" it by hiding that "trunking" by making sure they are behind our TV consoles / sofa / bed / study table? Lots of "" as I'm not sure of the exact terms to use
