Our Dream Home @ Woodlands Meadow

Recommended Posts

Thank you for dropping by and reading my renovation blog from page 1

Just wanted to share that I've collated all the posts about my renovation journey to my personal blog. If you wish to cut through the clutter of people asking for PMs for my ID, do go direct to www.guojiawen.com and choose the tags "Dream Home / Renovation / Home Deco".

Cheers!

Have been reading renovation blogs for quite sometime and found the info all really useful. Hence decided to start my own reno blog to document our reno journey :)

Our dream home is a 5 room BTO at Woodlands Meadows. Currently awaiting for keys which should be ready by March (hopefully), since our block is the last one hanging. HDB, please release our keys soon!

As my hubby & I are will be shuttling back & forth from overseas, we were pretty eager to settle our choice of ID. Have done our research since Oct 2013, shortlisted about 15 firms, asked for quotations, met with 6 IDs and further shortlisted our choice.

Finally signed with our ID two days back. Overall we have good vibes and chemistry with Jason (our ID), who is working together with his brother (owner of the company). Price quoted was reasonable, Jason was really flexible in terms of our requests and after viewing a work in progress home, the workmanship was good as well. Everything is great so far. We are also really happy with the reno package!

The next step is to choose the colour & overall feel of what we like and update Jason before he helps come up with our 3D designs.

Am really looking forward!

Will be uploading my floor plan this evening. Can't seem to find it in my phone album but have sometime on the train so decided to blog. Too excited!

On choice of colours, as our theme is more modern minimalist, I've decided more towards white & silver for the carpentry work for the entire house. but not sure what r the matching paint colours for it though.. need to browse more websites / home design magazines etc for inspiration.

Can anyone share whether having the same design theme throughout the house (except my future baby room) be boring? Our idea was to have a uniform design so it's not changing from one room to the next. Thought it might be messy..

Hi cocobliss,

We are expecting to collect keys no later than March 14. Actually for our estate, blks A to D have already collected their keys. My blk is E. So it shouldn't be too far off.

Yup we chose and signed with an ID before collection of keys, but our ID did share that measurements may change and he will deduct or add according to the per ft cost he quoted us :)

Though my keys are not here yet, there's helpful neighbours in our estate FB page who already uploaded pics. So took from theirs to share first ;)

I took HDB's tiles and doors (hope they don't make me regret). So my house should be 95% identical to what my neighbour uploaded.

Reason I say hope HDB don't make me regret getting the tiles and doors from them? My ID shared when checking the flooring for another neighbour who engaged him, a large number of tiles in the middle of the living room was jutting out pretty badly. In the end my neighbour had no choice but chose to overlay with new tiles, adding on another 5k on top of what was paid to HDB for the tiles. But again, he did mention that he seen another unit without such a problem. So we're crossing our fingers really tight that our unit is done swee swee!
