  1. I bought 20m worth of them from the link you bought from. Only SGD$49! Thanks for the recommendation haha
  2. Haha yes! I can't help but have this habit to keep visualising / day dreaming how the house will look like after its fully furnished and decorated. Can't wait...!
  3. No prob alphaev7! Glad it has been helpful Have used the Sharp TV briefly when setting it up, when close up it was not a very pleasant experience. Standing at the sofa area, image is a lot better. The display set at mega discount store looks sharp, but I feel the image is not as sharp as the newer versions of TV out in the market today. This TV was launched in 2012 if i'm not mistaken. I guess will need to trial and error and calibrate the TV to the best performance possible.. If you are still keen, I got it for $1699 from Lion City Co in Jan. They are selling for $1628 now. But do note it does not support digital TV. By 2015 I think all TVs in SG needs to support digital to watch local shows. Exception is if we sign for cable TV / buy a digital box. Only then can we still watch local TV. Anw, the mister and I are very qin cai (easy going) with TVs, so as long as we can watch we are happy haha. That's why went for bigger and cheapest. If particular about the TV images, I think there are definitely better TVs out there. With the constant IT sales, have heard of 60" TVs going for lower end of $2000
  4. Seems like a great buy for the chandelier! Hard to find such pricing in the local shops.. When I was shopping along balestier they cost an arm n leg.
  5. Congrats on your new home. It looks spacious. Have fun renovating!
  6. For those interested to read through my entire renovation journey but don't wish to go through the full 19 pages with lots of requests for PMs, I'm finally almost done transferring my tips and posts to my personal blog, plus written a few additional posts about renovation there that is not in this t-blog. Can understand everyone's pain coz I went through the "research" part too. Haha. Have read through so many t-blogs when I was researching that I became blurry eyed. So might be easier if you guys go directly to www.guojiawen.com and choose the tags - Dream Home / Renovation All the relevant posts will show up there. Am almost done with the renovation part... and will be moving on to blog more about the furnishing and decoration, and also about my taobao purchases. All $2000+ worth of them. My hubby nearly fainted when I told him how much I spent!
  7. Hahaha, so if i buy it, feminineness factor down by 10?
  8. Resort theme! Looking forward to your sharing
  9. The thread is moving fast and furious! Many new home owners sharing their journey and that's great haha. Just recalled I have taken photos of the actual turnout of my wardrobe configuration First compartment - Shelvings Second compartment - For bags, drawers n clothes. Third compartment - For clothes and some drawers. Fourth compartment - Hubby's corner. Mirrors at each compartment for convenient trying of clothes! Certainly hope the space is enough!
  10. Haha, agree with you. Don't want to follow blindly but sometimes the logic is beyond us!
  11. Camping to see your purchases $4000 is many many things, I only bought like $2000 worth!
  12. I did a short write up on my experience with my house fengshui audit. Posts 379 to 380 of my tblog. Hope it helps
  13. Hi aluka, Didn't do much research for that. We took the recommendation by Mega Discount Store.. Just told the sales person we prefer tempered glass and will be using city gas, and he recommended the Brandt cooker hob..
  14. To be honest, I didn't check for CASE TRUST accreditation. I only confirmed on the HDB approved contractors portion. Believe if we do the necessary research and homework of the ID / company beforehand, it shouldn't be an issue?
  15. Just curious, when did you start asking for quotation? Suspect they did not reply due to the rush to finish their existing project before the start of the 7th month.. I get what you mean coz when i told the IDs my budget and requirement, most of them come back with standard package, miss out what I want, exceed my budget by 20% etc. Dropped them like hot potato haha.
  16. Hi Paul, You can check out post #730 for the details + overall views of my ID Thanks Harriette!
  17. Yup it does. I topped up to the premium insurance as well..
  18. Robinson 9th Anniversary Bedding Fair Okay this is really the last post. For those who are looking for beds, can go take a look at Robinson's bedding fair! Just paid the balance for our Sealy Bliss mattress and we got back 5% + additional 9% rebate. Overall after all the rebates, we paid $3424 for the mattress instead of the original $3911 stated in our receipt. *Happy with all the savings so far*
  19. Curtains Oh just to update about our home curtains. Guess hiccups for home renovation is really inevitable. Ours were smooth all along till the curtains. Probably we were also rushing to fly off tonight, so the timeline for the making of the curtain was a little short. Our contact person said they rejected the workmanship for my living room curtain. So they only installed the tracks in the living room, the two roller blinds in my bedrooms and my night curtain in my MBR on Tuesday. Went up to check how the curtain look like from the exterior of the flat last night (with lights on inside the rooms). The two roller blinds were too translucent for us and it is a big deal for us as we stay in the 2nd floor (easily seen by people). So we have rejected the blinds and asked to change material (which Kay obliged without issue - good attitude). But due to the lack of time, we can only re-select the materials in Sept when we are back in SG. Love my MBR curtains. But am unable to comment much for living room and roller blinds yet. Overall views will only be shared in Sept in this case - and will share the contacts publicly if everything turns out well.
  20. House Handover + ID Contact House was handed over yesterday. Overall am really happy with a fuss free renovation experience, especially since hubby and I are first time home owners. We paid off the balance but still requested for further touch ups as our house is very white. Even little dirt is obvious. As promised, will be sharing my ID contacts with everyone - he is Jason from Cosy Living and can be reached at jason@cosyliving.com.sg / 9366 1558. Will like to state a few caveats though: 1. I will not be giving out the detailed quotation of my renovation works as our renovation works and requirements differ. I can only assure that he charges a reasonable rate as an ID. 2. My quotation was confirmed before CNY 2014. Their rates have increased since then, so hope everyone will understand if you do not manage to get the amount I paid for the renovation. 3. Please do check out the actual workmanship by requesting to view a work in progress / completed home. What is acceptable to me may not be acceptable to everyone so it's still better to view the actual works before confirming with any ID. Overall views Lets first start with the positives. Hubby and I are happy with the renovation work and find Jason to be a honest and trustworthy person who really helped us a lot especially since we were not around to monitor the renovation works. He even helped to liaise for all our electronics and accessories deliveries (super thankful for that!) and I think he does help other homeowners too.. Basically our chemistry with him is there and a lot is based on mutual trust. This says a lot in the renovation industry, where most of us have to do so much research just to ensure we don't entrust our house to the wrong person who may run away, give black face, refuse to continue work without payment etc (read many horror stories in people's t-blogs). He is easily contactable via whatsapp and made the effort to communicate to us through Skype as we were stationed overseas. Basically majority of the photos I've posted in this blog were taken by him. Until the recent ones after 8 July when we are back in SG. Workmanship is also reasonable given the amount we paid. Jason was willing to touch up wherever we find unacceptable. As many renotalkers have pointed out, the attitude is more important since any renovation will have hiccups. His attitude is definitely good towards homeowner. Though I pointed out many areas to rectify, he did not show any resentment at all. Even my mum said I was being too particular and should not be so picky (*oops*). And we could tell he is on good terms with his subcontractors (which is equally important). He is not all about money. Have heard of IDs / contractors who only do things if money is paid / ask homeowners to top up / refuse to budge if no additional payment is received. But throughout the renovation, whenever we had to amend our renovation contract, he was willing to absorb the differences whenever he could (of course we cannot push our luck. those were minor VOs). Okay now on to the areas to improve one (which isn't a lot thankfully). He wasn't that responsive via email at the beginning when we were sourcing for quotes. So to those who will be emailing him your requirements, maybe dropping him a call to ensure he has received your email will be better. He is much faster with calls and whatsapp. My laminate brown joints are obvious as my laminate colours are very light. Will have prefer it to be fully white and grey. Believe it is unlikely to be completely covered, but the lines could be thinner maybe? Same as all other IDs and contractors, do remind your IDs of things you want. We went through our electrical works with him before we left but there were areas left out. The fault lies two ways since I assumed he will remember after I only went through once. So, constant reminding and supervision has its merits. That's all for my renovation journey so far. Hope my blog has been helpful to all new homeowners and those who are going to enter renovation or undergoing your renovation now! Will share more about our home furnishing and decoration journey probably in mid - end Sept when we have officially shifted in and settled down! Can't wait!
  21. Haha saw your reply in your blog. Mine will also have elements of blue eventually. Can't wait to see how your house turn out with all the deco in Nop, left the toilet door as it is.. Doors are easy to change. Prob when it spoils, I may change it to bi-fold or other types of doors.. Hello Gloria, My digital lock is RFID cards and password. Think the password can't be seen until I put in the battery and touch the screen.. I bought it directly from OceanEleven. Think he bought it from Qoo10? You may want to check direct with him at his t-blog Back to the West
